They share how pray plays a vital role in their relationship with God, and how expecting God to answer our prayers in a certain way, instead of trusting God’s outcome, can damage our relationship with God. They help us understand that our concept of God begins taking on characteristics that closely mirror our perceptions and feelings about our earthly father, mother, and significant others. Therefore, when we base knowing God from an earthly view, a profound contradiction can exist in our minds between who God is to us as a Heavenly Father. They will help us understand to have victory in our lives we need to know God from His Word so we develop a biblical image of God so He becomes someone that is trustworthy to love and serve. Our beliefs influence and control how we respond to life, and they were formed usually before our spiritual awareness. When we base our significance, value, and worth (our identity) on people and material things, our lives get out of balance, our emotions become overwhelming, and we tend to never be satisfied. We share how God’s Word needs to be the anchor on which our true identity is built. And as we change our thoughts to align with God’s Word, we realize our identity is based on who we are as God’s child and not from what we do.
