Vulnerability at its finest as we dive deeper into the topic of mental health
One of the last recordings I have of my Pops. Enjoy
To be fully transparent I’m going to let you all know now, I open up quite a bit in this episode. No special guests, no theme, just telling you SOME of my experiences with racism. Peace and love to you all.
Turtle’s Table talks Divorce with Naji Franklin, Nikki Nicole Joy, Ernetta Edwards, and Phillip Johnson. We discussed some great tips for coping when times get hard, how to ensure your kids are ok throughout the process, how to bounce back, young love, and the one thing most people forget in these trying times: self-care! We also got a great list of books to help you through from Phillip. Thank you all for being a part of this! It was an awesome experience!
Mothers and fathers, police officers, first sergeants, recruiters, educators, Airmen and Family readiness NCOs, it doesn't matter! The theme stayed the same the whole time! YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Whether you are suicidal, depressed, suffering from body dysmorphia, have PTSD from a traumatic event in your life, have multiple personality disorder, or whatever else, it is important to know that there is no need to suffer in silence. We are not here to fix each other, only here to provide a sounding board for the lost and alone. Please do not give up.
Mental Health is such a broad subject, but one that needs to be talked about, normalized, and better understood. People with mental health issues are looked down upon, judged, and misunderstood. Not only that, but most feel alone, and without hope. We are trying to change that stigma. If this helps one person then it was all worth it. Thank you for your time at “Turtle’s Table” Dekota Humiston, Sylton Hurdle, Will Clouse, and Matthew Barraco. Some words were said, tears shed, and issues put to bed . All of your contributions were extremely valuable.
Michael Thomas has experienced adversity through racism at work, being judged based on his sexual preference, facing speed bumps relating to promotion, and much more that you will hear about In this awesome podcast. He not only talks about these struggles, but gives some great advice on how he overcame them.
At 85 years young, this gentleman gave me a run for my money. I urge you to listen to this podcast in it's entirety. It is easy to draw conclusions if you do not listen to it all, but all points tie together in the end. This interview along with the conversations before and after were thought provoking, motivating, and eye opening. Some of the points he touches on might make you uncomfortable, but that doesn't make them any less true. I had 4 questions ready and he answered them all and only heard the first one. I hope this content helps someone. If we can help just one person it is completely worth it. Love and peace to you all. -Briton
Just like the title says, listen for tips for talking to your subordinated and peers about racism. These are trying times and this can be a hard topic to discuss but let's face it, it has to be addressed. A little over 5 minutes of audio for a lifetime worth of advice. Also, calling in is a special guest, friend, and mentor, Lilliana Harris.
This week we had a special guest all the way from Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Oliver Bogan. We have been friends for over a decade and I knew he would have some great words of insight for you all. This might not apply to you, but I bet it applies to someone you know. Share it to help them out. It's out for the best price! Free!
As promised in my last episode; a little about me and some poetry. I poured my heart into this one for you all and its just under 5 minutes. You've got 5 minutes right?
Take a deeper look into what seems like such a simple subject. I assure you I will have you smiling by the end, unless you are smiling already! Have a listen, you won't regret it!
