In this episode I share my recent journey of how I improved my relationship with food, with my body and with fitness.
The UK is in its second Covid-related lockdown. I give tips on how I stay safe, sane, active and connected. If you want to send me a voice message, click this link: https://anchor.fm/ines-higgins/message
Many of us are resistant to change. And in these days, once you’ve got used to one way of living, all the sudden things open back up and you’re encouraged to go outside again. Do you find transitioning difficult? I share my experience and a few suggestions that may help you.

I know we’re all different and in different situations right now during this lockdown season, but what if, for some of us, this is a perfect time to form some new habits? What if this time could be our time in the greenhouse, undistracted by outside factors that would otherwise keep us from doing the things we try to include in our day as a habit. It could be something as little as just thinking of three things you are grateful for, eating healthier, exercising, learning a new skill and so on. I show you my examples and what’s been happening for me recently and also remind you to include God in your new habit, because he wants to be intimately involved in everything you do. What matters to you, matters to him.
How are you adjusting to this new life in lockdown? In this episode, I share with you how I felt initially, what negative old habits I reverted back to, but what I am doing now to turn it around and give structure, routine and health back to my life.
These are very strange times for all of us; but what have we done to draw closer to god and learn more about him and us in this time? I share my experience of the first four weeks of lockdown and why I prefer to call it incubation.
In this episode, I encourage all of us to live on a higher plane, to set her mind on things above, to believe that our prayers have power and that praise shifts the atmosphere and helps us re-focus. I point out the good things that will happen as a result of this difficult time. Let’s draw close to God and watch him reveal himself more and more to us.
In a time where your life is really busy, it’s so easy to choose what gratifies the flesh. Instant gratification such as going home and ordering a takeaway, eating chocolate, binge watching television or scrolling through Facebook. But there is a better way: relying on the Holy Spirit, who is called the Comforter, who will not just comfort the flesh, but strengthen us spiritually. I describe my current predicament, what’s been happening in my life, and how I have noticed the struggle, how I often choose Conford but I’m working towards choosing the Comforter a lot more often.
The media is rampant with fear inspiring reports about the coronavirus, the floods and other things that are currently happening. While these should not be downplayed, here are just a few thoughts about how they should be handled, and how we as christians can deal with negativity as a whole.
As Christians, we believe that God wants to have a relationship with us; god is not far away but nearer to us than the air we breathe. Is it any wonder then that he wants to talk to us? I share about how God can speak to us, a few personal examples as well as a few practical tips on how you can hear him more, but this is by no means formulaic and should not be taken as gospel; this is just what helps me. I share with non-Christians that that, despite the way Christians have portrayed God, he is a loving father who will not take your fun away but give you the greatest life adventure ever.
In this episode I talk about prayer, how we are all unique and God wants to meet us in our uniqueness. I talk about how some people recommend a certain way of coming into God’s presence, but that this will not always work for everyone. I give a few practical tips, but remind you that it is simply spending time with someone who loves you the most.
Two lessons I have learned by experience recently. I will also back them up scripturally and give you hope to keep going with God. The Christian life must not be lived in solitude. We are meant to be a body, all together, not a loner. In this episode I attempt to share with you the benefits of living in community with other Christians. I mention how it helps us grow, challenges us and helps us to use our gifts for gods glory. To get in touch, please email me at Ines4Christ@gmail.com Tweet me at @DeterminedInes Or send me an audio message on here.I would love to hear from you.

Together with my special guest, I am reviewing 2019 and how it went for us; we are also having a sneak peak into 2020, what we are hoping to achieve for the year ahead. We finish the episode with a prayer for all the listeners.
In this episode, I am questioning the belief that some Christians have that God will only respond to big, bold, Victorie focused prayers based on scripture. I’m reminding you that you have a compassionate father, and that even the most feeble prayer of desperation will reach his throne.
This episode comes straight from my heart, reminding you that God loves you whether you know him or not, whether you feel it or not, and whether you were living with him in mind or not. I’m reminding you of the real reason for this season.
On the day of the results of the UK elections, I seek to remind Christians to continue to work together, speak words of blessing to each other and over the government even if it’s not the government we voted for, remember to be grateful and generous, and not yield to the spirit of fear that is portrayed through the media.
In this episode I am talking about how difficult we find it these days to actually rest and just be, be kind to ourselves and ask ourselves why we are conditioned to be a certain way. What thoughts have led to our emotions that are so on restful? I’m sharing a few tips that may help you.
In this episode, I am telling you about the products that recently helped me lose weight and have more energy. This is not a sales pitch, simply me sharing things with you.
Work out, having a coffee, talking about skincare… Everything goes here :-)
Just a bit of a taster of my food, routine and what I did yesterday.
In this episode I talk about two things: running, and how a blind person can benefit from running with a guide runner, my running story and tips how to get started, as well as listening to your body and having a balanced healthy lifestyle.
As yesterday was diabetes awareness day, I want to reflect on my own journey with diabetes, and give a few tips on how to prevent or manage Type II diabetes.
This one is an exclusively Christian topic... And not even every Christian agrees with it. But just because it's controversial doesn't mean it is wrong. I share what the gift of tongues is, try to clear up some common misconceptions about the gift, share my experiences along the way and talk about what it has done for me.
How do you ensure that your day will run positively? The thoughts you think in the beginning of your day make all the difference, because your emotions always follow your thoughts. In this episode, I give a few examples from my own life of how I could have chosen to stay in a bad mood, or two switch my way of thinking and have a better day. I also give some generic and Christian tips on how to start your day right.
In this episode, I focus on five steps to being more healthy: to love yourself and be kind to yourself, to be consistent in your workout and diet, to focus on progress in a different way to just weighing yourself, to hydrate yourself well and to focus on protein.
Last episode, I discussed how looking after our bodies will certainly have an affect on us spiritually. Whereas last episode I focused on the healthy eating aspect a bit more, today I’m talking about exercise and how it helps us not just physically and mentally, but helps us to be spiritually alert.
The Bible says that our body is the temple of the holy spirit, and even other spiritual people outside Christianity agree that your body is key to experiencing spiritual realities. In this episode I’m discussing the beginning of my journey, how I used to struggle with this but have made a few realisations recently. I do give a few tips, but leave room for other views as well. Ultimately, we are made out of spirit soul and body, and we want everything to harmonise. I also discuss that food and numbers on the scales could be an idle, or somewhat of a god, something we could easily obsess over rather than focusing completely on Jesus.
In this episode I talk about what we give attention to, and how this affects our thoughts, words and our life. I do in particular mention Halloween and that, if you are a Christian, it may be worth not participating as it’s not really from God. However, through it all, I do remind people that God loves them regardless… This is where true freedom is found.
In this episode, I share a couple of things I have noticed since being still, but also things I’ve noticed when there have been a few days where I was unable, or didn’t make the time to be still.
In this episode I ponder the question whether we are driven by pressure, or guided by peace. Peace is not the absence of difficult circumstances, but an inner calm. Pressure leads us to compare and compete, whereas peace helps us to be our true self.
In this episode, I share how my faith in Jesus has helped my mental health. I share a bit about my journey, my progress and how my recent discovery of stillness has lined me up and make me discover quite a few new things. Disclaimer: if you are sensitive and triggered by people talking about self harm or sexual abuse, please do not listen to this episode.
In this age where the Smart phone and internal and external voices constantly cry for your attention, what if you can slow down your thoughts and become still? In this episode I am discussing stillness from a Christian point of you, though I do allude to other ideas for those who don’t have a believe in what I believe. If you are generally interested in meditation, this episode may help.
