    Where the Crawdads Sing

In the first episode ever, we discuss ‘Where the Crawdads Sing' by Delia Owens: a fictional novel that follows the life of a woman named Miss Catherine Danielle Clark (known to all as Kya). Kya is an outcast who lives out in the marshland of Barkley Cove, a fictitious town based off of coastal North Carolina. It is a gut wrenching coming of age tale and a beautiful ode to nature…all with a murder mystery expertly intertwined. The story bounces between Kya's childhood and the potential murder of a prominent figure in town, Chase Andrews, until both stories collide to ‘present day' or in this case, 1970. This novel is beautifully crafted and will leave readers reevaluating their own codes of ethics and morality.Links Mentioned:Website: https://www.lonemamabookclub.com/episodesCharities:Feeding America: For over forty years this organization has been helping to feed American's across the nation through their network of over 200 food banks across the country.NC Aquarium Society: Supports educational programs, animal rescue, habitat restoration, and conservation priorities.OBXC4: Supports maintenance of the OBX coastline and dunes.Corolla Wild Horse Fund: Protects, conserves, and safely herds the free roaming wild horses of OBX.
