As economic, societal and environmental conditions deteriorate, social tensions are escalating. Some politicians use fear to fuel their own extreme agendas and it's increasingly popular to blame others for the ills of the world. Nationalism and discrimination are at their worst in decades. This has significant negative impact on workplace cohesion as many feel increasingly marginalised. Yet in contrast, scientific research shows the extent to which successful innovation – much needed in most organisations today – comes from diversity of thought. And different perspectives come, of course, from a rich diversity of lived experience. In this episode, Amraze Khan shares his experience of working in EDI and examines the increasingly urgent need for inclusion at work. Amraze Khan (He/Him) Amraze is the Head of EDI at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he leads the vision, supporting the University to become intentionally inclusive for its 4,500 staff members and around 40,000 students. He has worked in EDI for nearly a decade, with experience in senior leadership roles across various industries comprising of the NHS, within Charities and Local Government. Prior to this, Amraze worked in senior communication roles in the NHS and Civil Service. Outside of work, Amraze is a proud Yorkshireman, a carer, father to two cats, a Trustee at Rochdale Mind, an avid blogger, and podcaster. Since the 1960s, Israel has been building settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory of the West Bank — settlements deemed illegal under international law, and condemned by the Canadian government. With the settlements has also come many documented cases of violence from Israeli settlers against the Palestinians whose homes are being bulldozed to build those settlements. Now, a new investigation by CBC's the fifth estate has found that Canadian charities have been indirectly funding organizations, including the Israeli military, that support the ever-expanding settlements. That includes issuing tax receipts on those donations — despite them running afoul of the rules governing registered Canadian charities.Cohost Ioanna Roumeliotis breaks down her team's reporting, and why critics say these donations are perpetuating violence that threatens the possibility of peace and a Palestinian state. We'd love to hear from you! Named after pioneering racing driver Gwenda Stewart, Gwenda's Garage was a real place: where three female mechanics defied the odds by setting up their own garage in Sheffield in the 1980s. Anita is joined by Roz Wollen, one of the co-founders of the original Gwenda's Garage and Val Regan, the production's composer and musical director. The FCA has called on banks and payment firms to bring in stricter controls protecting customers from romance fraud after a study showed a number of missed “red flags” that led to people losing huge sums of money to people creating fake online profiles. They found that women tended to sustain these relationships for longer which could mean a bigger scam. Anita speaks to Beth Harris, Head of Financial Crime at the Financial Conduct Authority to ask how we can be aware of these scams and avoid them, and what banks should be doing to assist.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Corinna Jones

Join Eoghan Beecher, County Manager UK & Ireland of iRaiser, as he discusses growing your individual giving digital product portfolio. Charities often produce an online donation page that suits all supporters, but asking engaged supporters to go through an entire first time donor process every time they wish to support can be impersonal, and create friction which leads to a poorer supporter experience. Understanding your audience and how they engage with you will indicate different experience and different expectations of what a excellent supporter experience is, which will indicate that different supporters benefit from products designed for them. From simply streamlining a second gift ask, to creating complex value exchange products, fundraising in a way that boosts relationships with donors will drive more revenue and result in a loyal supporter base. Understanding what a product is, or can be, is vital for this! What is the role of empathy, listening, and local leadership in disaster response? In this episode of Associations Thrive, host Joanna Pineda interviews Sharon Eubank, Executive Director of Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The answer is inside you.”How anyone can start helping by simply visiting their local school or city council and asking, “What do you need?”References:LDS Humanitarian Services WebsiteGet Sharon's brand new book!
This week delivered royal chaos on an epic scale! Seven major charities dumped Sarah Ferguson faster than a hot potato after explosive emails revealed she called Jeffrey Epstein a "supreme friend" just weeks after publicly vowing to cut ties forever. But that wasn't the worst of it - new allegations emerged about Prince Andrew's involvement in a Thai orgy with over 40 women, described by witnesses as "industrial scale" encounters funded by taxpayers! Meanwhile, Prince Harry quietly registered six-year-old Archie for Eton College in a stunning move that could see the Sussex and Cambridge cousins educated together - only to have his spokesperson deny everything by Friday! Palace insiders are still furious over Harry's Guardian interview, with sources saying "his mouth is his biggest problem." Plus: William and Charles held crisis talks at Balmoral about keeping the monarchy united, Kate delivered a tear-jerking tribute to the Southport victims, Princess Anne gave underwire bra advice at a lingerie factory, and Meghan got publicly dumped by a reality TV star after snubbing her with gift boxes!
Paul Virzi jokes about cancer charities in his Netflix special, "Nocturnal Admissions".

And several more countries are expected to follow the UK in recognising a Palestinian state.
