This Halloween marks 10 years of stories from Rod and Steve; to mark the holiday and our tenth anniversary, we're going to take you deep into the dark side of Appalachia with two chilling tales from southwest Virginia. First, Steve tells the story of three strange sisters who ran girls' schools in Murfreesboro and Christiansburg—women whispered to be linked to evil spirits and who eventually faced justice for a terrible crime. Some say their spirits still haunt the ground where their school stood in Christiansburg over a hundred years ago. Then, Rod shares the legend of two cunning sisters from Scott County, whose greed and cruelty led to a savage end. Their ghosts are said to still haunt the cemetery where they were denied burial.Be sure to subscribe for more Stories of Appalachia.Happy Halloween, y'all!

Happy Halloween! On this week's special spooky episode, Jeff welcomes Julia back to the show to discuss a few frightningly fun topics, starting with Jeff's review of Disneyland's new Happiest Haunts Tour ("The Villains' Trail"), and we look at the new features for this year and compare it with tours in years past. Then, we discuss Ray Bradbury and his relationship with both Walt Disney and the Disney Company, including a closer look at The Halloween Tree, his book that inspired the Halloween Tree in Frontierland. We also dive into "Something Wicked This Way Comes," Bradbury's cult-ish film produced by Walt Disney Productions in 1983 and we look at its inspiration, the story of its production, its genre (horror? Dark fantasy?), and its place in horror story culture. Finally, we give a quick review of Tron: Ares, while wishing it was doing better at the box office.
Happy Spooky Season, Everyone! As many of you know, scary movies freak me out. But that doesn't mean I don't love today's guest! Today I'm talking to a horror icon— Freddy himself, Robert Englund! Robert is beloved for his performance as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and its many sequels. He has also had an illustrious career outside of Wes Craven's franchise, appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including a recent appearance as Victor Creel in Stranger Things. On Halloween of this year, he will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it could not be going to a sweeter, more generous person. Robert is a joy to talk with and I'm so honored he took the time to chat with me. We have gotten to know each other over years at conventions and we have a great conversation about what it's like to be associated with an iconic role, his warm relationship with horror fans and how he used his experience on-set to inform his performance as Freddy. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did— and Happy Halloween! Happy Halloween! Let's explore some lumber and tree lore from around the world and some spooky tales that may make you think twice before you cut down that tree or plane that board for your next project.
Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, aliens, questionable Taylor Swift lyrics, and candy corn...It's that time of year again — October 2025, when brainrot meets toothrot on All Hallow's Eve.And this week, we're kicking off a two-part special that'll have you shivering in your skivvies.Carol Malone, a forensic paranormal scientist, has been featured on the Travel Channel and consulted for television and film. Known as the godmother of forensic science in the paranormal world, Carol bridges the gap between laboratory precision and the unexplained. She's spent three decades applying forensic methodologies - from blood-spatter analysis to environmental baselining - to haunted locations, turning ghost stories into data points and cold cases into energy maps. She's no run-of-the-mill "paranormal investigator" or "ghost hunter" or "Jack Osbourne." (RIP Ozzy btw. We love your stuff). No no...she is a seeker of proof! And since she was friends with Ed and Lorraine Warren (see: The Conjuring or The Demonologist or The Amityville Horror or....The Conjuring 2...) and they let you into the inner circle, she's gotta be doing something right! In Part One, she speaks with Greg about: -The secret behind why energy and life after death are almost certainly real.-How brain trauma can open new channels of perception.-The science behind psychic ability and consciousness transfer.-What those TV ghost hunters keep getting wrong (and why Carol's real fieldwork since the late '90s is nothing like it).-One eerie detail about the human body that might just prove the soul IS REAL?!?And did we mention it's scary? Happy Halloween, Loopers. This is the perfect spoooooky listen while you're rush delivering that costume piece from Amazon....Find Carol on her Facebook page at FPI Unsolved: https://www.facebook.com/fpi.unsolved Let Greg know how you like the show. It's Monster Rally time! Troy and I have been looking forward to discussing this Universal Horror film for a long time. Easily one of the most fun of the studio's 1940's horror films HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1944) has extraordinary highs and some bizarre lows. We dig into every single one we can think of including my obsession with werewolf footwear. I'll admit that I may have been overprepared for this episode which explains how the show's running time stretches to double the length of the film itself! Of course, this movie marks Boris Karloff's return to the Frankenstein series but in a new role as a mad scientist. He is fantastic here with his short-sighted goals always overruling wiser choices. Stepping into the oversized boots of the Frankenstein Monster for the first time is Glenn Strange, causing us to look at the common use of his version of the character in products aimed at fans. John Carradine becomes Universal's new Dracula in the episodic film's first segment but I make the argument that he might be playing an imposter. “Is you is, or is you ain't my Dracula?” J. Carrol Naish appears as the hunchbacked assistant to Karloff and the actor does his usual excellent job playing a character that swings wildly from brutal murderer to pitiable, lovelorn soul. We also discuss several of the returning bit players that always show up in these movies and lament that Goerge Zucco doesn't get more screentime. At a certain point we realize that we have gotten lost on the brain swapping carousel trying to figure out which noggin should get which lump of gray matter. Luckily the film has a proper torches and pitchforks villager attack to bring things to a destructive end. Plus – quicksand! If you have any comments about this film or any of the Universal horror movies thebloodypit@gmail.com is the place to send them. Thank you for listening and Happy Halloween!

This week Ron and Peter fire in a bonus episode with a Craig R. Baxley double feature: 1990's Dolph Lundgren-staring I COME IN PEACE and 1991's badass action opus STONE COLD, which tried to turn former football wunderkind Brian Bosworth into a 1990's action hero; but quintessential '80s/'90s bad guys Lance Henriksen and William Forsythe - and Baxley's action, which does for the 1990's what COMMANDO did for the '80s - easily steal the film from "The Boz". Please remember to Rate, Like, Subscribe, and go in pieces, assholes! We'll be back next week with a Happy BIG 4-0 AND a Happy Halloween with A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 and RE-ANIMATOR.

Happy Halloween, dear listeners. We've relit the fire just in time for Peter to join us for another year of the Campfire Series. This year's theme: movies about our hometown cryptids. Watch how quickly we go off-theme.Our first entry is a Peter pick: 2018's Lake Michigan Monster, a comedy horror film written, produced and directed by Ryland Brickson Cole Tews. It stars Tews, Erick West, Beulah Peters, Daniel Long, and Wayne Tews, and centers on an eccentric alcoholic who assembles a team to track down and kill the titular monster to avenge the death of his father.
The spooky season is finally upon us. Every day another yard is covered in Halloween decorations and the autumn leaves. The fall jackets come out as the temperatures drop, at least they would if Global Warming wasn't real. The calendar tells me its October, but Mother Nature is telling me to keep wearing shorts! Honestly, the weather doesn't matter because the Grinders podcast can be enjoyed anywhere at any time. You can listen to Grinders while trick or treating. Don't worry. We won't blow your cover. Just say the gray hair is a part of the costume. Collecting candy while listening to the latest gaming news, sounds like a happy holiday to me. The holiday will be even better for fans of the Yakuza series who can look forward to some upcoming releases. Fans of Nioh, Code Vein, and The Seven Deadly Sins can look forward to 2026 for new releases, it's only scary if you hate waiting. For the parents who are escorting their children as they beg old people for candy. While you are driving slowly, enjoying your beer, is the perfect time to listen to Stinkos! You could be at home, drinking in peace. Instead, you are just hoping your kid gets some good candy, that you plan on stealing in their sleep. You might need those treats to power through yet another price increase from Microsoft. If a bad economy and corporate greed don't get us, Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi might. Even worse that getting pennies in your bag is the Fed spending our tax dollars to protect dictators while ignoring natural disasters here at home. Even more gross than someone giving out open pieces of candy corn, are the actions of ICE. I know I am making jokes, but they are deadly problem. Cowards who have been emboldened to attack the people they have always dreamed of hurting. Sick fucks. With such horrible Stinkos, we need some Sweetos to light up our ol' hallows night. Almost as good as finding the one neighborhood that gives out full sized candy bars! Or if you are like Frank, a huge pot bud. Unlike MAGA who is very unpleased with Dear Leaders opinions on marijuana. If they weren't already unhappy, announcing Bad Bunny for the Superbowl has made all of MAGA even less happy. Not quite as happy as Break feels for the future of his favorite baseball team. As the night of begging finally ends, the parents can finally have some fun. Put the children to bed, raid their candy bags, put on your sexiest Halloween costume, and listen to an episode of RPGrinders! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Favorite Sexy outfit? Winnie the Sexy Pooh? Slutty Santa Claus? Handsy Guy on the Bus? Sexy Three Stooges? Popeye the Pussy Eater Man?

Send us a textIt's The Review Review RAPID FIRE for Spooky Season! Our returning guest, Kimbo, joins Paul for a short stay in the studio for "Poltergeist," (d. Hooper ((?)) 1982). In our most questionably rated adventure since "Earth Girls Are Easy," we attempt to invoke the spirits of the MPAA to explain their logic in the PGness of this film.
