Sara DuMond hosts a podcast inspired by one of her favorite toasts: Here's to Strong Women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them. "May We Be Them" is a podcast that explores the lives and stories of strong women. Strong women come in all di
The incomparable Deb Otey joined me on the podcast! Educator, leader, wife, mother, and impact-maker....this is a woman who lives her life with a confidence that is characterized by purpose-driven work, vulnerability, and cultivating a rich but small inner circle of mentors and confidants. She gives a master class on leadership, while also giving us an inside look at how her life and mindset evolved to help her step into the space that she inhabits now. Enjoy her energy, joy, and authenticity that absolutely shines through in this interview!
When your 19-year old says to you, "Hey mom! We should record another podcast episode before I head back to school next week!" you do NOT turn that down. So, I present to you, Anna DuMond Part 2. It was so fun. I hope you enjoy it!
Such a fun hour talking to this one! Carla Moyer is a Pennsylvania native but now considers NC her home. She is a lifelong educator and is the badass Head of Middle School at Cannon School in Concord, NC. She is a proud mom to two millennial kids, has an awesome supportive husband, has garnered the affection of not only her own adult children but also their friends. She is a runner and a devoted Avett Brothers fan. She. Is. Awesome. Enjoy!!!
Since the title of this podcast includes the phrase "May we raise them"...I present to you my oldest child, my daughter Anna. She's a recent high school graduate and is heading off to start her new college life at Wake Forest University in about 5 weeks. We got to chat about everything from the college application process, to teachers, to social justice, to the need for independence and freedom as a young adult. She might be mine, but I'm not afraid to say, that I think you'll agree she has a lot of things figured out in life that qualify her a very special strong woman in her own right. And at that, my heart bursts wide open. Enjoy.
My longest episode yet! But folks, it is so worth it. I talked to my friend, Melissa Carrara about her amazing life story. It includes lessons for us all, about courage, strength, conviction, and curiosity. Her claims to fame include being a wife, a mom, retired active-duty United States Army, international missionary, and cancer survivor, among many other titles and feathers in her cap. Trust me. You will walk away from her interview feeling inspired and grateful for the wisdom that comes from knowing her!
Today I got to spend the hour chatting with my dear friend and former med school classmate, Sarah Cash. She currently practices dermatology in Asheville, NC where she lives with her husband Dave and their three boys. She shared with me how her experiences growing up shaped her approach to life, how perseverance and perspective allowed her to endure a few twists and turns along her career path, and why she believes that self-acceptance is paramount to a woman's strength. You will love her. Enjoy!
Amy take two! I had the pleasure of interviewing Amy Reiss today! Amy is a former teacher, freelance writer, and now the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for Cannon School in Concord, NC. Through her writing, she finds power in the ability to be a truth-teller in a way that is both compelling and enviable. Her humor is infectious, her candor is a breath of fresh air, and her approach to being authentically herself is one you'll want to take notes on. Married and raising two teenage daughters, she is living life in parallel with so many of us in this same stage of life. Throw you ear buds in, hop on your treadmill or bundle up for an outdoor walk or run, and enjoy the hour!
Here's to strong women! May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. I got to spend some time talking to one of my favorite people today, Amy Mierzwa. She is the founder and owner of Performance Solutions Physical Therapy and you can find her on Facebook (@Performance Solutions Physical Therapy) and Instagram (@performancesolutionspt). Side note: she puts some awesome videos on her social media pages that give you an inside look at the magic she works for her clients! Today we talked about what makes Amy, well...Amy. We talked about her childhood, her pathway through college, and we dove into how and why she got her business started. She shared with me the things that motivate and inspire her in life, and she dropped lots of little nuggets of wisdom, in her usual low-key way, that I bet you'll find just as awesome as I did!
Hi! It's me. Sara DuMond. I'm a mom, wife, pediatrician, runner, and now....Surprise! I started a podcast! Yep, I wasn't busy enough and thought I needed one more thing to do! ;) Truthfully, this has been on my bucket list for awhile. I am a podcast JUNKIE. I am addicted to listening to podcasts. So I thought I'd get in on the action myself. Today I share a little bit about my "why" behind starting the podcast, I introduce a little bit about myself (in the unlikely event that someone listens to it that isn't related to me or isn't already a friend of mine), I share a little introductory story from my past, and I give you a feel for what you can expect out of this little podcast. I hope you'll give it a listen! And if you like what you hear, maybe you'll even subscribe to it, so that you can listen to future episodes! Spoiler: You'll get to hear the name of my very first guest I'll be interviewing coming up on the first "official" episode!
