RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot Scott open Super Bowl week pleading for the rarest gift in sports: a wire-to-wire Seahawks blowout with zero anxiety attached. Instead, they confront history, betting lines, and the uncomfortable reality that Seahawks–Patriots games almost never come easy, dissecting spreads, totals, MVP odds, and prop bets surrounding Sam Darnold, Kenneth Walker, and the Seattle defense. ESPN insiders Mike Reiss and Brady Henderson join Mitch to trace the improbable parallel journeys of the Patriots and Seahawks from offseason uncertainty to Super Bowl 60. Reiss details how Mike Vrabel reshaped New England's culture around connection and accountability, while Henderson explains why Mike Macdonald's Seahawks are thriving on trust, depth, and collective buy-in rather than star power. The discussion zeroes in on Drake May's health, New England's offensive line vulnerabilities, Seattle's defensive front, and why the Seahawks are favored — while acknowledging that Patriots fans view this matchup as dangerous, not nostalgic. Mitch and Jason Puckett wrestle with the strangest part of Super Bowl 60 week: the complete absence of a believable reason the Seahawks should lose. They debate conspiracy theories, historical heartbreak, and why this matchup feels more like a gift than a grind, with comparisons to past Seattle sports collapses adding a layer of unease. Mitch reconnects with Dave Grosby to reflect on a defining week in Seattle sports history, Grosby's decades-long presence behind the microphone, and his upcoming honor from the American Parkinson Disease Association at the March 14 Magic of Hope Gala. Grosby shares a candid, deeply personal look at living with Parkinson's, the lack of a cure despite years of advocacy and fundraising led by figures like Michael J. Fox, and why continued research is critical. Peter King joins Mitch to unpack the shock of Bill Belichick not being a first-ballot Hall of Famer, offering rare insight into how Hall of Fame voting dynamics, strategic ballots, and a flawed system can produce surprising outcomes. The conversation shifts to Super Bowl 49 memories, lingering fallout inside the Seahawks locker room, and why the Seahawks–Patriots rematch echoes past championship blind spots where favorites felt inevitable — until they weren't.
On this podcast, I'm honored to welcome Dr. Marci Reiss. Marci's story begins where so many hopeful stories begin—with a future wide open. In her mid-twenties, newly married, on her way to medical school, life felt full of promise. And then, over a single Valentine's Day weekend, everything changed. What began as a headache and a walk along the beach became a medical crisis. A frightening diagnosis. A sentence that would quietly govern the next fourteen years of her life. “You have Crohn's disease,” a doctor said—and walked out of the room. With those words, Marci entered a world of hospitals, procedures, chronic pain, and relentless uncertainty. She was hospitalized 162 times. She survived sepsis twice. She watched every corner of her life—marriage, motherhood, work, identity—bend under the weight of being chronically ill. But this is not only a story about suffering. It's a story about resilience. About misdiagnosis. And about the staggering consequences of human certainty when it goes unchallenged. Fourteen years later, a world-renowned physician discovered the truth: Marci never had Crohn's disease at all. Her illness had been caused by medications prescribed for a disease she didn't have. When those medications stopped, her health returned. So what does someone do with fourteen years lost to an illness that wasn't real—but whose pain absolutely was? Marci chose to turn loss into purpose. She devoted her life to helping others still living inside that prison—people whose bodies hurt, whose voices are doubted, whose identities have been reduced to diagnoses. Her wisdom isn't born from textbooks alone, but from lived experience: helping people find clarity in chaos, reclaim identity beyond illness, and remember who they are beneath medical labels. She has helped build integrated models of care at major institutions including the Mayo Clinic, Vanderbilt University, and the University of California San Diego—bringing mental and emotional health into spaces that once focused only on the body. This is a conversation about grief and healing. About the fragility of certainty. And about reclaiming a life after everything you thought you knew falls apart. I'm deeply grateful to share it with you. ——

This week we're bringing you a series of five episodes we always point to when people ask what Second Act Stories is all about. These "Unbelievable All-Stars" all have one thing in common: they exemplify what we're looking for in an incredible Second Act Story. Whether you're a longtime listener or brand new to the show, these episodes bring together the stories that best capture the heart of the podcast: bold choices, hard-earned wisdom, and journeys that continue to surprise and inspire. Fraidy Reiss' story is among the most inspiring tales we've ever profiled on the Second Act Stories podcast. Part of the Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn, New York, Fraidy was married at the age of 19. It was an arranged marriage to a man she barely knew. He demonstrated a violent streak within a week of the wedding punching his fist through a wall and threatened to kill her. Over the next twelve years, she feared for her own life on a daily basis. But she eventually she found a way to get a college education, achieve financial independence, divorce her husband and escape with the custody of her two daughters. Today, she is the Founder and Executive Director of Unchained At Last, the only organization in the United States dedicated to ending forced and child marriage through direct services and advocacy. Want to learn more about Fraidy Reiss and Unchained At Last? Check out her TED Talk on YouTube and visit the Unchained At Last website. Fraidy is also featured in Bruce Feiler's book "Life Is In The Transitions" (which is how we first heard of her) and Hillary and Chelsea Clinton's "The Book of Gutsy Women." ******* If you enjoy Second Act Stories, please leave us a review here. We hope you all had a great Holiday Season! After a week off we come back with a story about Dina Wein Reiss, who went through a surprising amount of effort to scam companies into giving her truckloads of merchandise at cost which she then turned around and sold, stealing all of their profit margin. Find out how a fake store and actors on the payroll setup the scheme, and how one disgruntled employee took it all down.

Depression fühlt sich wie das Ende an. Aber es kann ein Anfang sein. Ich kann nicht mehr! Ich will nicht mehr! Lass mich in Ruhe!

Emmy-nominated writer Seth Reiss made his feature film debut with Mark Mylod's THE MENU in 2022, which he co-wrote and executive produced with Will Tracy, and received a WGA nomination for Searchlight Pictures. He is currently a supervising writer on LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS, for which he has received five Emmys and five WGA nominations. Reiss' new writing and producing project includes Sony Pictures' A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY follows two strangers who meet at a mutual friend's wedding and have the chance to relive important moments from their pasts, illuminating the path that led them to the present and gaining the opportunity to change their futures. In this interview, we talk about how Seth is balancing his role at LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS with screenwriting alongside Will Tracy, which led to the successful film THE MENU, and now his new film A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY. We also discuss how his writing philosophy favors high-concept premises that quickly focus on emotional, layered characters, with RUSHMORE as a key influence. Reiss also talks about his unproduced film FELLAS AND GALS, and gives advice for aspiring writers. Want more? On this podcast episode I dive deep with Wesley Stevens, the founder of Vox, Inc. Wes shares his fascinating journey from starting as an intern in the voiceover industry to becoming a highly successful agent. In this episode, explore the evolution of voiceover, the impact of technology on the industry, and what it takes to make it as a voiceover artist today. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the scene, this episode is packed with insights and advice from one of the industry's most experienced agents. Wes has advocated for talent as a profession since 1994. He started in Columbus, Ohio at a small agency booking variety acts before joining Talent Group, Inc. (TGI) in Los Angeles in 1995 as an assistant. Seven years later, he acquired TGI's voice-over department and launched VOX, Inc. Wes has represented some of the biggest names in film, television, social media and music, alongside brands including Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, GE, Apple, Dodge, Jaguar and Sprint. His first booking of note was placing David Hyde Pierce in "A Bugs Life," and the journey took him back to Pixar in 2009, when he placed Ed Asner in "Up." Along that road there have been many campaigns, series, films, and fond memories. Having built the company off the springboard of his specialization in animation and gaming, the company's success led to diversification into celebrity endorsements and innovative deals in hosting, podcasting, AI and other emerging media and technologies. Wes helps talented people create powerful, equitable, and long-term relationships. He thrills at the opportunity to connect the right talented people with each other. Wes was born in Virginia. He is a military brat, an Eagle Scout and a graduate of the University of Virginia. Wes has run seven full marathons from Honolulu to Florence, Italy. He is very involved with Amazon Conservation Team and with Best Buddies, a global charity promoting the full integration of individuals with intellectual disabilities into mainstream society. He is passionate about creativity in all its expressions. Wes resides in Los Angeles with his husband and two pups. Want to connect with Wes?
