On the evening of March 6, 2009, Nancy Moyer stopped at a grocery store in Tenino, Washington, paid by check, and drove home.  After that night, she was never seen again. She left behind her purse, her keys, her car, and two wine glasses on the coffee table.  When Bill, her husband from whom she had separated, brought their daughters back two days later, he found the front door ajar, the lights still on – and no Nancy.  Her purse was inside.  Her keys were inside.  Her car was in the driveway.  She was not the kind of woman who walked away. This episode details the sixteen-year search for answers in one of Thurston County's most haunting cold cases — a case with two persons of interest, a decade of dead ends, a 911 confession that was taken back the next day, and a mother of two who has never been found.Visit our website! The result? A psychological “system crash.” Together, they explore how Principles, Perspectives, Purposes, and Priorities form the architecture of mental health—and why the cure for burnout isn't another motivational boost, but a return to our original design. This is a deep, practical, and clarifying conversation for anyone seeking not just confidence—but coherence.Learn more at https://redeemingidentity.com/about/Please, support The Aging Well Podcast by hitting the ‘like' button, subscribing/following the podcast, sharing with a friend, and….Tip Jar! Today, macaroni and cheese is the ultimate comfort food, a staple of weeknight dinners, family gatherings, and Soul Food restaurants. Humble though the dish may seem, its history is filled with surprising twists and turns. Renaissance cardinals and popes dined on elaborate pasta-and-cheese concoctions laced with costly spices. In the eighteenth century, wealthy young Englishmen made macaroni a symbol of continental sophistication. Black women, whose contribution has long been overshadowed, played a crucial role in establishing the dish as an American tradition from the nation's founding through the Civil Rights Movement. The Epic History of Macaroni and Cheese: From Ancient Rome to Modern America (Columbia UP, 2026) by Dr. Karima Moyer-Nocchi is a delectable history of macaroni and cheese, tracing an extraordinary journey of cultural exchange and social change. Karima Moyer-Nocchi reveals the religious, political, and industrial forces that shaped its evolution alongside stories of the unsung figures who crafted the dish as we know it today: enslaved cooks who preserved and adapted traditions, immigrant chefs who introduced new variations, and practical homemakers looking to nourish their families with an affordable meal. She emphasizes the adaptability of macaroni and cheese, which in different times has served as both an indulgence on the elite table and sustenance to those struggling to survive, crossing borders, social classes, and cultural divides. Deeply researched and rich with enticing details, this book uncovers the creativity and resilience that brought a beloved food to our tables. The Epic History of Macaroni and Cheese also shares centuries of recipes—from ancient Roman authors to celebrity chefs, reworked for modern kitchens—that provide a hands-on way to experience the evolution of this iconic dish. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. After finishing a fascintating book called Why We Sleep by Prof. Matt Walker, I found myself trying to help a student get started on her exam revision in a visual arts cover lesson. She tells me she's had 4 hours sleep because she went to bed at midnight but had to set an alarm for 4am to finish an English task due that day. She isn't very hopeful that the revision will stick, and neither am I. In this episode, I provide no final answers but enjoy having a good chat about the science of sleep, and how good sleep does seem to improve student outcomes. Tune in here to this Wednesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! We’re joined by Sandy Moyer from the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of North Carolina to talk about Hispanic outreach and bridging conservative values with political engagement. Sandy explains RNHA-NC’s mission to connect with Hispanic communities across the state and challenge what she calls a long-standing messaging disconnect. She shares her personal story as a second-generation American, emphasizing gratitude for opportunity, legal immigration, and the responsibilities that come with citizenship. Sandy notes that many Hispanic voters hold deeply conservative views centered on faith, family, free markets, and public safety, but are often overlooked or mischaracterized in political conversations. She describes mixed reactions to her outreach, from strong support to accusations of cultural betrayal, and says those concerns often fade once values-based discussions begin. The conversation also touches on free speech, religious liberty, and immigration policy, with Sandy arguing Republicans better align with lived experiences from socialist and authoritarian countries.
