My Perspective Podcast

Inspired by a recent Clubhouse discussion, hosted by the Executive Protection HQ entitled “Finding your lane in Executive Protection” Today I discuss why it's imperative that we personally develop long-range perspective. But also, that we impress this mindset upon those under our development or influence.

DMX was a true a rap icon, and he will be sorely missed. Yet X was also a mirror into the destructiveness and magnitude of substance abuse/addiction. I speak on this today, having first hand experience with substance dependency.

A toddler was shot in the head during a “road rage” incident on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. I'm sure we've all found ourselves bewildered at the rampant displays of ignorance and disrespect in society. But for those of us actively trying to avoid drama.. we should be solidifying what our mission is daily. Particularly in those moments where people try to push our buttons.

Tekashi 69's latest stunt involving his personal Security earlier today, highlights the subcultural distinctions between “Bodyguards” and “Protection Specialists”. Today I'm discussing those distinctions- and sharing some of my own experiences providing Personal Protection.

James Baldwin once said “The price one pays for pursuing any profession, or calling, is an intimate knowledge of its ugly side.” The Security Industry is no exception!

Concluding my brief discussion on the SunTzu passage. This episode we'll be looking at positions of Victory and Defeat. Two dynamics which we can generally attribute to “Determination” on the part of a hostile entity (shooter/terrorist/attacker). Versus “Unpreparedness” on the part of their victims/targets.

Continuing my discussion on Violence, today I'm diving into a passage from SunTzu's Art of War. One that I believe perfectly illustrates the dynamics of not only Mass Shootings- but violence in general.

Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School was the site of another Mass Shooting yesterday. The question being posed (as always) “What can be done to stop these horrendous acts of violence?” Instead, today I want to examine WHY these acts of mass violence are so easy to pull off.

Venue parking lots are notorious for fights, shoot-outs, and the occasional vehicular assault. This particular incident involved a brawl turned hit and run, when a female driver was determined to “ride or die” for her man (literally)!

Continuing the conversation from episode 1.. today I'm speaking on the circumstances that landed me a Bouncer position at 17.

Two inquiries I get the most, are “How long have you been working Security?” and “Why did you start doing Security?” Here I briefly address the first question.
