Boxing and football? In a Winter Olympics? In October? Biblical illiteracy is one of the biggest challenges facing the American church—and Omaha is no exception. In this message, Mark Ashton launches an eight-week, big-picture journey through the New Testament, helping us understand the most important story ever told: the life of Jesus. In this teaching, Minister Mark Ashton explores the opening movements of Jesus' life—his eternal beginnings, miraculous birth, formative boyhood, and public baptism—and shows how every moment fulfills God's promises from the Old Testament. From Matthew's genealogy to John's declaration of Jesus as the eternal Word, this message connects Scripture, history, and meaning, showing how the New Testament fits together as one unified story. You'll discover why Jesus' lineage matters, how his birth reveals God's heart for outsiders, what his hidden years teach us about growth and humanity, and why his baptism marks the beginning of a new kingdom. Whether you feel overwhelmed by the Bible, unsure how it all connects, or simply want to grow in confidence reading Scripture, this message is designed to give you clarity, context, and a deeper love for God's Word. This is the first step in mastering the New Testament—not just knowing the stories, but understanding how they shape your identity, your faith, and your everyday life.
Humility isn't a personality trait; it's a posture. It's the admission that we are in constant need of grace—a truth woven from the beginning of creation to the life of Christ. In this sermon series, we're walking through the book of Genesis—the “Book of Beginnings,” but also the book of very human failures. From Adam and Eve to Jacob and Joseph, every story reminds us that God does not choose perfect people. He chooses people and forms them.

Episode No. 744 features artist Blas Isasi and curators Larissa Grollemond and Elizabeth Morrison, and artist Harmonia Rosales. Tomorrow, February 6, the Saint Louis Art Museum opens "Currents 125: Blas Isasi." The exhibition presents sculptures informed by ancient Andean cosmology and the Peruvian desert landscape, as well as the violent collision between Indigenous Andeans and colonizing Europeans. The exhibition was curated by Simon Kelly, and is on view through August 9. SLAM's exhibition brochure is available here. Isasi is a Peruvian sculptor who lives in the United States. He has previously shown in Prospect 6 in New Orleans (parts of that exhibition traveled to the MCA Denver), at SHED Projects, Cleveland, and at The Front, New Orleans. Grollemond and Morrison are the curators of "Beginnings: The Story of Creation in the Middle Ages" at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. The exhibition, which is on view through April 19, looks at how creation stories have been advanced in manuscript painting. The exhibition also includes works by Harmonia Rosales, whose work often engages Christian creation stories, how they were presented in the middle ages, and how they might be offered today. Rosales, whose work centers Black women in reconsiderations of Western art, has been included in group shows at Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Art + Practice, Los Angeles, the Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco, and the Brooklyn Museum. Pastor Roger dives into the flood in Noah's day. He give historical and archeological evidence for the truth of a global flood from many ancient cultures. From the Caspian Sea to the Great Salt Lake and from the Epic of Gilgamesh to the book of Enoch, we have much reason to believe this biblical account (never mind the inspiration of Scripture with God as it's ultimate author). Be prepared to learn new perspectives as Pastor Roger looks at the worldwide conditions of the time, similar conditions of today, and most importantly he points to the ark as a symbol of salvation. -Featuring Roger Hirth

This week at ease, we're exploring what it means to stay curious and creative. In a world that moves fast and asks us to have all the answers, we slow down with a gentle, expansive conversation about learning, creativity, and staying soft enough to evolve. From making mistakes to making meaning, this episode is for the ones trying to figure it out without losing themselves in the process. Nailea and Justus reflect on what school never taught us, how our creativity gets shaped by self-worth, and the lifelong work of rebuilding how we define intelligence. Together, we unpack the difference between performance and purpose, and why we tend to doubt ourselves even when we care deeply. As you may know, discovering Taskmaster last year after Mantzoukas was on saved our sanity as America plunged straight into the sewer, and on today's episode, we're talking to one of our favorite contestants, Desiree Burch! Desiree is, of course, so much more than a Taskmaster series 12 contestant - she's a stand-up (who, if you live in the UK, you can see on tour in February!), the host of Netflix's Too Hot to Handle and BBC 2's Live at the Apollo; she appears on tons of panel shows and so much more! And on today's episode, we get all into how she moved to the UK for a relaysh (but not the relaysh the internet seems to think she moved for... what?!), achieving your dreams in a foreign country, how that relationship fizzled, walking your cat on a leash, the power of the mid-life crisis and TONS MORE! In Ted Bundy for the Defense: Part One, we examine the earliest confirmed crimes of Ted Bundy and the investigation that led to his first conviction. This episode follows Bundy's documented attacks beginning in 1974, starting with the brutal assault of Karen Sparks and the murder of University of Washington student Lynda Ann Healy. As young women continue to disappear across Washington State, investigators begin to notice a disturbing pattern—college-aged victims with similar physical characteristics, abducted under similar circumstances. We track Bundy's movements from Washington to Utah and Colorado, including the Lake Sammamish abductions that introduced the “Ted” suspect and his relocation to Utah as law enforcement closed in. The episode details the disappearances and murders of Nancy Wilcox, Melissa Anne Smith, Laura Aime, and others, highlighting how Bundy's crimes escalated while investigators struggled to connect cases across state lines.Part One also explores Bundy's personal life and psychology—his unstable academic career, rejection from elite law schools, political ambitions, and turbulent romantic relationships—and how these failures fueled a growing sense of entitlement and resentment. The episode concludes with the attempted kidnapping of Carol DaRonch, her survival and identification of Bundy, his arrest in Utah, and his 1976 conviction for aggravated kidnapping—marking the first time Ted Bundy was held criminally accountable.Sources: The Bundy Murders: A Comprehensive History, Kevin M.
