In this podcast, two best friends talk about the things nobody is talking about. The hope is that through the power of conversation we can encourage people to be vulnerable in their messiness & the sticky points of life.
In the Season Finale of MUT, Cobi & Sadie question the idea of motherhood. Both wonder if this is the path for them. If so, does this child need to come from their uterus, or is adoption a better fit? They realize early on that they are just scratching the surface. Because this episode is layered - covering the ethical considerations in this current climate, the restrictions we place on love & how femininity is tied to childbearing.
In Episode 9 of MUT, Cobi & Sadie discuss a darker version of spirituality - The ways in which vulnerable seekers can be manipulated, exploited & harmed on the path. Both provide personal stories & the hard lessons learned when we place fallible humans on a pedestal & look outside ourselves to be saved.
In episode 8 of MUT, Cobi takes us on her journey of being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder, Lupus. She doesn't look sick but she lives in chronic pain & grieves the loss of the able body she once had. At first glance this episode is about physical health - but keep listening as this conversation morphs into the ways in which we resist change, our present reality & how we find our way back.
After much cajoling, Cobi & Sadie finally managed to get their other bestie on the show. Episode 7 is really a love story, starring three girls who grew up together & will grow old together. When the world often feels bleak, having slumber parties in your thirties feels like a Defiant Act of Joy. Immersed together they are often transported back in time, to a place where no adults are allowed.
In Episode 6 of MUT - Cobi & Sadie discuss all the ways perfectionism hinders our creativity & propensity to take risks. Take this podcast, for example - it can be excruciating hearing your voice play out on a public platform. Shame shows up, feels too intense & you want to crawl back into your comfort zone. But these two are focused on growth not success, so listen in as they explain the difference.
In Episode 5 of MUT, Cobi & Sadie tackle the subtle art of suffering. 2020 has taken latent suffering & kicked our asses. So how do we show up for ourselves when we suffer? But even more telling - how do we show up for others in their suffering? Listen in as two humans navigate the one topic we all have in common.
In Episode 4 of MUT, Cobi & Sadie discuss their history of internalized sex shame. This conversation comes full circle - exposing those initial sexual comments that made their way into the psyche - to the understanding that their most valued sexual relationship is the one they have with themselves. By speaking out loud, hopefully we can poke holes into the delusion that there was anything to be ashamed of after all.
Ten years ago, Cobi & Sadie backpacked through Europe together. On this trip, it didn't take them long to realize they found each other annoying AF. Fast forward to Episode 3 of MUT, Cobi & Sadie are recording from their last days together in Portland, Oregon. If you listen closely, you might make out the low-grade animosity, sprinkled with lots of laughs & a healthy dose of humility. The result: they can't wait to plan their next trip.
In Episode 2 of MUT, Cobi & Sadie discuss why curiosity is key if you value evolving as a human. It's no secret that life is hard & we will suffer. But with curiosity - one can explore these stages, learn from them, & hopefully become a little wiser as a result.
This episode epitomizes the slip ups that come when we discuss matters of race. Sadie (a white girl) sticks her foot in her mouth several times & her BFF Cobi (a mixed girl) has to address this. Listen along as they do their best to make sense of themselves, their friendship & the biggest civil rights movement of their generation.
