The Bible is full of stories of God doing amazing things for those He calls. And it always ends badly for those who get seduced into it.The Egyptian Pharaoh attempted to kill male Jewish babies, and his country was destroyed by God's plagues. Haman in Persia (modern-day Iran) plotted to exterminate all Jews in the kingdom, and he and his 10 sons were executed. In the 20th century, Hitler launched an attempt to annihilate the Jewish people. He died, and Germany lost World War II.There have been many more examples of enmity toward the Jews throughout history and yet the Jewish people continue to survive and even prosper.Anti-Israel, anti-Jewish hostility is inspired by Satan. How so? Satan is driven to thwart God's plan. So to exterminate the Jews before the coming of Jesus Christ, Himself a Jew, would be to foil God's promise of a Savior. To destroy Israel now would be to derail God's promise to save Israel and the return of Christ.Fundamentally, the lack of peace in the Middle East is about Israel's neighbors open hostility toward the Jewish people's presence. The Jews did not take back Israel through force of arms in 1948 but through declarations by Britain and the United Nations. No matter, the newly established State of Israel was attacked immediately by her Arab neighbors.This helps explain why Iran and its proxies across the Middle East, like Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, who although holding differing Islamic beliefs, are united by an unquenchable hatred and motive to destroy Israel.But it's not just the Middle East. The spiritual contagion of enmity toward the Jews and Israel has infected many in the West. The political and theological left, which are basically one and the same, are characterized by this. But what is troubling is that the political and theological right (i.e. conservatives) are succumbing as well. Notable influencers like Tucker Carlson, Candance Owens, and Nick Fuentes, along with many others, openly and loudly deride Israel and the Jews, asserting:The modern-day people in Israel aren't JewsThe Jews control America and the U.S. does Israel's bidding in the Middle EastThe Jews are the great corruptors in the world and seek global dominionIsrael is a genocidal oppressorEven if there was any truth to these defamations, none of it would cancel God's unbreakable promise: “God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! … From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God's choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Romans 11:1, 28-29).This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Chris Katulka, host of Friends of Israel Today radio program and Vice President of North American Ministries, joins us to discuss The Dark Spiritual Contagion of Anti-Israel, Anti-Jewish Enmity.Be sure to join us for this important topic that explains much of what is taking place in the world.

To put on a yajña takes a lot of work—any kind of yajña—and to take it down takes a lot of work. The middle portion is often very short. Again, in a fire yajña, there's only a few spoon fulls that go in, but getting all the ingredients (especially if you have to grow them yourself) and then cleaning up afterwards is the heavy lifting. But the combustion—spiritual combustion—happens in the middle, and this is one of the five most important practices according to Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. I feel like we had that combustion because of the hard work of Śraddhā Devī Dāsī ,team members, and Divyanāma Prabhu—working, all of them, constantly. I'm in on weekly meetings for planning, and then I hear Śraddhā with her team. I see Divyanāma Prabhu constantly planning also for his team. And this is a confluence of different teams coming together; it's just been really nice. I hear Nirākulā in the other room on meetings, and the detail that Śraddhā goes into to plan these is astounding to me, and many of you mentioned those types of things. I don't know if you could hear out there, Śraddhā, but a lot of people were appreciating that you had a motherly presence and you were attentive to every detail. Really, it's your tenacity and your very deep devotion that shows up in the way that you lean into your service completely. I couldn't be more grateful, and all of us feel that way too. So thank you very, very much for giving such sacrifice so that we can achieve this yajña that is irreplaceable in our lives, in our sojourn, in our journey back to Godhead. Thank you very much. Divyanāma Prabhu, Vṛndārikā Ramāi, and their team—they have dedicated their lives, or a good portion of them, to putting on Yātrās. And just in the way things have come together over the years, we have now three Yātrās a year. They've just evolved. But they didn't just evolve, just like the material world and all the species didn't just evolve—there's an intelligence behind it. Divyanāma and Vṛndārikā Ramāi are attached to the dhāma. They have spent a lot of time in the dhāma, and it was good fortune that they ran into Mukhāravinda in the Istanbul airport distributing books one day. Believe it or not, they were in transit, and that's—without all the details—how we met. Then one thing led to another, with a ride from their house to the airport about starting the Youth Yātrā. I had always wanted to do it; didn't know how it would ever happen, but then Kṛṣṇa sent them and they said, ‘We'll do it.' Now there's been a merging of Yātrās, and we have added on in October to the wonderful UK devotees coming together, and I get to spend time going around with that other Yātrā, and now these Yātrās are coming together. Kṛṣṇa has definitely got a plan, and we're really grateful to you and Vṛndārikā Ramāi. Thank you very much for the tireless service you do. Back at ISV years ago, we used to have Devotee Appreciation Day, and we would come together once a year, I think, to try to appreciate the devotees. Every time driving home, I would look at Nirākulā and say, ‘Why am I so exhausted?' It was really hard, because we all have this feeling—I'm hearing it from everyone—you want to try to mention everybody. It's like seeing all the preparations that were just offered to Lord Jagannātha and then thinking you can eat them all. It's impossible to glorify the devotees enough or appreciate them enough. And I always walked away feeling like, ‘Oh, I could have done more.' And that's exactly how I feel now—for all of you, that we came together to render service and create this environment. It's a miracle. It's a spiritual miracle that will be imprinted in our hearts forever.

We will always struggle to keep God as the center of our worship and satisfaction. Just like the verse in Come Thou Fount says, “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love,” I definitely feel that pull. Even as a redeemed child of God, I struggle with my sin nature and will continue to fail and need to repent. While you and I will not be perfect in this life, we can make progress. That's what I'd like to focus on today. How can you and I as Christians seeking to love God with all our hearts, souls, and strength avoid common traps that lead to idolatry? While there are many great ways to do this, I'd like to share three practical tips to fight idolatry that have been extremely helpful in my own walk with the Lord. The first is to develop the habit of spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices we do because they aid us in our relationship with God. The two most powerful spiritual disciplines are prayer and Bible reading. I can't even begin to describe how important these practices have been in my life. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2). Surely the pattern of this world includes idolatry. Don't you constantly hear messages that call you to put our hope in something other than God? But when I come to his Word on a regular basis, my mind is renewed. I see that thing, whatever it is, I have been placing my trust in is empty and will fail every time. I read about God's character—how he is steadfast, and sustains his people, how his love never fails, and he is powerful. As I pray and confess my need for him and praise him for his character, my mind is renewed and I am less likely to fall into the trap of looking to worthless things to satisfy me. What would it look like for you to prioritize prayer and Bible reading as a regular part of life to orient your mind and affections toward the Lord? The next tip for fighting against idolatry is similar and takes the practice of Bible reading a step further. I have found it very helpful to spend time meditating on God's character. Now the word meditate in our current setting can often mean emptying or clearing your mind and just being present in the here and now. However, Biblical meditation is very different. It is not clearing the mind but actively setting the mind on truth and choosing to focus on that truth and mull it over—to steep in it and consider it from all angles. Remember, even though you and I know idolatry proves fruitless, the pull and want of certain things is extremely powerful, sometimes ridiculously powerful. If you are struggling with a disordered love, something you feel you have to have or hold so dear that it has taken God's place in your heart, if that's you, I would commend you to meditate on God's attributes. As you read your Bible, take time to stop and ask yourself, what is this teaching me about God? What does this show me of his character? And then stop and ponder it. Maybe keep a notebook where you list what you learn about God from scripture. Pray about it. Talk with God about his character. Praise him, thank him, draw near to him. When was the last time you sat and marveled at who God is? It is so difficult to do in a world that is constantly rushing to the next thing! Meditation takes discipline and practice, and I need to cultivate that in my life more as well because it is so worthwhile. A passage that might be helpful to start meditating on is Isaiah 46. That passage provides a wonderful contrast between false gods that vie for our hearts and the one true God. Listen to how verses 1-2 describe idols. Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary. They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity (Isaiah 46:1-2). The idols of the world are a burden for the weary. The text paints a picture of someone stooping low because they are so weighed down by their idols. Idols burden the worshippers have no power to unburden but instead lead to captivity. However, the one true God could not be more different. Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared (Isaiah 46:3-5)? Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me (Isaiah 46:9). In contrast to idols, the God of the Bible is described as someone who upholds his people, who carries them in love; he bears their burdens. He sustains his people and rescues them. He brings his righteousness and salvation near to us. As I ponder the goodness of a God who not only sees my need but is powerful and willing to help me, I am less likely to run after hollow substitutes. Meditation on God's character will also fortify your heart. We grow in the habits of prayer, Bible reading, and meditation, but I also think it is important to consider the relationship between idolatry and discontentment. Really, they are very similar. Idolatry is a lack of contentment in the Lord. It is saying, “Lord, I see you, but I want more. I need something else to satisfy me. You are not enough for my soul.” If idolatry springs from discontentment in the Lord, wouldn't it make sense to be active in cultivating contentment in order to guard our hearts? In Philippians 4:13, we find the beautiful and popular verse I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Sadly, this verse is often misunderstood to mean that whatever I want to do, I am able to do because Christ will help me. But that is not what this verse is saying. We can see the true meaning by looking at the context of the verse. What is Paul talking about? He is talking about contentment. He has just said he learned the secret of being content no matter what the circumstances, and it is that he can do all things through Christ. In this context we could even say the verse is revealing that the Christian can bear all things or endure anything through Christ. That means whether my bank account is full or I'm broke, if I have Christ, I am secure. Whether I have a beautiful family or lose everyone I love, if I have Christ, I am rooted in a love that is sure and unshakable. Whether life is easy and comfortable and I experience the riches of God's blessing or every day is painful and suffering seems to come in waves, if I am in Christ, the God of all comfort will minister to my soul and use all things for my ultimate good. Are you content in Christ? Can you truly say, Jesus is enough? Can you declare, his grace is sufficient for all your needs? It is normal if there are times when faith comes easier and when it is hard. Jesus was tempted as we are and knows the pull of our hearts away from the Father. But as you seek to grow in contentment, as you meditate on the character of God, as you take time to be in his word and pray, the Lord will meet you and draw your heart to himself. The words from the song Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus have proved so true in my life and I pray they will in yours too. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace.” May it be so. Amen.

Conversion at the Well: Change of Heart, Change of Life The Conference and reflection centers on the Gospel story of Jesus and the Samaritan Woman. The reflection explains that the story reveals two kinds of thirst: the human thirst for meaning, acceptance, and fulfillment, and God's thirst for humanity. Spiritual life begins not with our search for God, but with God seeking us. The Samaritan woman represents every person. She comes to the well physically thirsty but also carrying deeper needs . . . acceptance, forgiveness, belonging, and a new beginning. Because of her past relationships and the judgment of others, she lives in isolation and comes to the well at noon to avoid people. Jesus approaches her without judgment and asks for a drink. Their conversation gradually reveals who he truly is. The woman's understanding grows step-by-step: she first sees Jesus as a man, then a Jew, then a prophet, and finally recognizes that he may be the Christ, the Savior of the world. Jesus speaks the truth about her life, but without condemnation, showing that truth expressed with love can lead to healing and inclusion. Jesus offers her “living water”, symbolizing the grace that satisfies the deepest thirst of the human soul and leads to eternal life. Once she experiences this encounter, she leaves her water jar behind—symbolizing that her deeper thirst has been met—and becomes a missionary, telling others about Jesus. Many people come to believe in him because of her testimony. The message of the reflection is that each person is like the Samaritan woman, searching for fulfillment in many places. Jesus meets us at the “well” of our own lives and offers the living water that truly satisfies. A deep exploration of narcissism, grandiosity, and spiritual narcissism, examining how the dragon of ego inflation can shape our psychology, distort relationships, and disguise itself as awakening, wisdom, and false light

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” — Matthew 16:26 Those words from Jesus confront one of the deepest questions we can ask about money and success. Jesus spoke them to His disciples as He taught about the cost of following Him. In that moment, He contrasted two pursuits: gaining the world and preserving the soul. The question still echoes today: Is there a spiritual cost to financial success? On today's episode of Faith & Finance, John Rinehart, founder and CEO of Gospel Patrons, joined the show to explore that very question and what Scripture teaches about wealth, work, and spiritual health. The Bible's Honest Warnings About Wealth Financial success itself is not condemned in Scripture. In fact, the Bible includes many faithful believers who possessed great wealth—Abraham, Job, and Lydia among them. Yet Scripture also carries repeated warnings about the spiritual dangers that prosperity can create. As John explained on the show, wealth can be both a blessing and a temptation. The danger arises when our hearts begin to trust money instead of God. Jesus addressed this tension directly in Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve God and money.” The issue is not the possession of wealth but the mastery of wealth over the human heart. And in a culture that celebrates success, possessions, and financial independence, those warnings are easy to overlook. The Cycle of Success That Can Lead to Spiritual Failure John describes a pattern many people fall into—a cycle of success that can quietly lead to spiritual drift. It often begins with a view of work that centers on earning money so we can eventually rest. We work hard, pursue success, and over time, our effort produces prosperity. Hard work and prosperity themselves are not wrong. In fact, Scripture often affirms diligence. But prosperity introduces a new danger. As John noted during the conversation, success can gradually lead us to forget the God who provided it in the first place. When we begin to see wealth as the product of our own ability rather than God's provision, our dependence on Him begins to fade. Before long, success that once felt like a blessing can become a spiritual trap. The Warning of the Rich Fool Jesus illustrates this danger in the Parable of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:16–21. In the story, a farmer experiences an abundant harvest. Faced with overflowing crops, he decides to tear down his barns and build bigger ones to store them all. From a purely financial perspective, his plan sounds wise. But Jesus reveals the deeper problem. The man begins speaking to himself as though his wealth guarantees security and ease: “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.” — Luke 12:19 Then comes the shocking turn. “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you.'” — Luke 12:20 The problem wasn't the harvest—it was forgetting God. This story hits close to home in a culture that often equates success with building bigger barns. The Danger of Forgetting the Source This warning appears long before Jesus told that parable. As Israel prepared to enter the Promised Land, Moses cautioned them about the spiritual risks that accompany prosperity. In Deuteronomy 8:17–18, he warned: “Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.' You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.” John highlighted this verse as a key reminder: even the ability to create wealth is a gift from God. When we forget that truth, wealth easily shifts from blessing to idol. When Wealth Chokes Out Spiritual Fruit Jesus also warned that wealth can quietly interfere with spiritual growth. In the Parable of the Sower, He describes seeds that begin growing but are eventually overwhelmed by thorns. He explains the meaning in Mark 4:19: “The cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” John also noted how startling that statement is. The Word of God is powerful, yet Jesus says the deceitfulness of riches can still choke its fruitfulness in a person's life. Wealth promises security and satisfaction—but it often delivers anxiety and distraction instead. God's Better Rhythm for Life Thankfully, Scripture offers a healthier path. John explained that instead of structuring life around work and wealth, God invites us into a different rhythm—one that begins with rest. The Sabbath command in Exodus 20:8–10 reminds us that our lives are not sustained by constant productivity. Rest re-centers our hearts. It draws our attention back to God through worship, Scripture, and time with the community of faith. From that place of rest, work becomes something different. Instead of merely trading time for money, work becomes an act of service and worship—an opportunity to use the gifts God has given us to bless others. When prosperity comes from that posture, it is received differently. Instead of assuming ownership, we begin to recognize stewardship. As Deuteronomy 8:18 reminds us, God is the one who provides the power to create wealth. That truth reshapes how we think about money. Our resources are no longer simply tools for personal comfort—they become opportunities to participate in God's work. And that leads naturally to generosity. The Role of “Gospel Patrons” John's ministry, Gospel Patrons, highlights a powerful biblical pattern. Throughout Scripture and church history, movements of God have often been supported by generous believers whose financial resources helped fuel gospel work. Even during Jesus' ministry, Luke 8:3 tells us that several women helped support Him and His disciples “out of their means.” These supporters—often business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals—play a vital role in advancing the mission of God. They may not always preach sermons or travel as missionaries, but their faithful stewardship enables those ministries to flourish. Your Work Can Matter for Eternity One of the most encouraging points Reinhardt shared on the program is that believers working in business or professional careers are not second-class participants in God's Kingdom. Your daily work matters. When your work is offered to God, your resources stewarded faithfully, and your generosity directed toward His mission, your life becomes part of something eternal. Financial success does not have to lead to spiritual failure. When we remember the source of our wealth and steward it with humility and generosity, our work can become a powerful instrument in advancing God's Kingdom. Sharing our faith should be exciting to us. It is exciting. When we consider the free grace God gave us through His Son, telling others about Jesus should be on our priority list every day. For whatever reason, many find it very awkward to talk to others about Jesus. We can talk about just about anything else, though. That's why it's crucial that we look at sharing the Gospel as an intentional thing we do. Intentionality is a great way to overcome our hesitancy, and let's be honest, sometimes fear keeps us from sharing. Truth is, each personality requires a customized approach to sharing about Jesus. Some are outgoing, and others are shy. A blogger for God TV has written that he admired a friend who told every seatmate on every plane he'd been in about Jesus.The blogger went on to write that, “Even if my fellow passengers desperately wanted to know Christ, they likely couldn't even get my attention with a jackhammer drill or a pie in the face.” Kind of funny…and also kind of sad. Also, very common. Matthew 16:24 says, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'” So, if we're looking for ways to overcome our mediocre Gospel sharing, what can we do? Let's look at a few tips. The first is prayer. Get honest with God and tell Him you're not so great at evangelism. I mean, He already knows, anyway. Ask Him specifically to give you both opportunities and an intentional plan for communicating the best news anyone will ever hear.Two—plan, think ahead. Are you a person who's good at conversation? Go over a mental checklist that provides you with enough scripture and short sentences to make your pitch when the time comes. However, if you're not outgoing, maybe you're a writer. Consider communicating with a card to let the person know you're thinking about him or her. Play to your strengths, not your weaknesses. Number three, listen before you talk. How many times do we jump into a conversation or meeting without taking a breath? Train yourself to be quiet for a bit until you hear where the other person is coming from. You'll learn about your friend or acquaintance, and you can then think through the best way to approach them about the saving gift of Jesus. But also, don't just wait for your turn to talk. Hear them. Meet them where they are, and listen to the Holy Spirit to see how you can speak Jesus into that person's life. Very few of us are Billy Graham. That doesn't mean we can't share the gospel.
