We've not spent a lot of time talking about the Protect College Sports Act on the podcast because to this point it was a bunch of hot air from politicians in an election year. That all changed in the last 48 hours. The Big Ten and SEC are on board now, with some serious changes. Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt is right in the middle of all of it and he is fired up the Senate will get something done this week that saves college sports from self destruction. We'll play it for you. Then, KU hires an athletic department GM and that leaves me with a really big question. And Jerry Jones warns people to count out Tony Romo at your own peril.

In this episode of I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman, host Luis Guzman sits down with Anthony Cardinale, better known as DJ Avision, for a conversation that goes far beyond music. While many people know Anthony as an internationally touring DJ and producer with a signature sound rooted in 90s house music, there's another side to his story that deserves just as much attention. He's also a husband, father, entrepreneur, co-owner of The Bar in South Amboy, New Jersey, and co-founder of CJ Pizza, one of the area's fastest-growing wood-fired pizza brands. What makes this conversation so interesting is how every part of Anthony's career connects together. The same creativity that fuels his music also shapes the restaurants, food concepts, branding, and customer experiences he builds. Whether he's producing a track, creating a menu, or designing a neighborhood gathering place, the goal is always the same: make people feel something.Luis and Anthony spend time talking about what it really takes to build multiple businesses while staying true to yourself. They discuss taking calculated risks, learning through failure, and making tough decisions during uncertain times. The pandemic forced Anthony and his longtime business partner to rethink everything they knew about business. What started as backyard pizza parties quickly turned into pop-up events, food trucks, and eventually a full restaurant that continues to grow. The conversation also dives into branding, hospitality, and why details matter. Anthony explains why he refuses to cut corners on ingredients, customer experience, or the atmosphere people walk into. From sourcing premium products to creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable, every decision reflects the long-term vision instead of chasing quick wins.Music fans will appreciate hearing about Anthony's journey as DJ Avision, from playing drums with his father and sneaking into clubs as a teenager to touring internationally and earning respect from some of the biggest names in electronic music. He shares how the sounds of New York house music shaped his production style and why staying authentic has always mattered more than following trends. The discussion also highlights the influence of family, mentors, and lifelong friendships. Anthony shares stories about learning from his parents, working alongside trusted partners, and surrounding himself with people who challenge him to think bigger. It's a reminder that success rarely happens alone and that great businesses are often built on even stronger relationships. If you're an artist trying to build a career, a small business owner looking for fresh ideas, or someone chasing multiple passions at once, this episode is packed with practical lessons you can apply immediately. It's an honest look at balancing creativity with business while building something that lasts. In this episode, you'll hear about:DJ Avision's path from local DJ to international touring artist.Building CJ Pizza from backyard events into a growing business. The story behind creating The Bar and its community-first atmosphere. Why branding goes far beyond logos and social media.Learning through failure, pressure, and calculated risks.Growing multiple businesses without sacrificing quality.Family influence, mentorship, and long-term partnerships.Staying creative while managing the realities of entrepreneurship. If you enjoyed this episode of I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman, be sure to subscribe so you never miss a conversation. Morris Tiedemann, General Manager at AYANA Midplaza Jakarta, joined Glenn and Suzanne from halfway across the world to explain how a hotel competes in a market flooded with luxury. Morris took a job in Urumqi in 2003 when he had to buy a book to figure out where it was. Twenty-two years in China taught him to move fast. Then AYANA came calling, and he had to slow down. Indonesia rewards patience. That tension is where his story gets interesting. The property sits in downtown Jakarta but feels like a beach destination — a pool, a tennis court, and gardens taking up real estate that most operators would have built on. The differentiator isn't the amenities. It's Indonesian hospitality baked into every touchpoint, backed by AYANA's larger story in Bali and Komodo. Also covered: how a new GM earns trust when he doesn't speak the language yet, why culture drives everything in a general manager's job, and the discipline of not "repainting the shop" in your first week. Today's Promise: 1 John 2:1 When you stumble, it's easy to let guilt and shame convince you to stay away from God. But today's promise reminds you that Jesus is not standing against you; He's actually standing for you. In this episode, we'll look at 1 John 2:1 and discover what it means that Jesus is our Advocate before the Father. You'll be encouraged to see that while God calls us to live holy lives, our failures don't erase His grace. When we confess our sin, Jesus stands on our behalf, and His righteousness covers us completely. The Holy Spirit lovingly convicts us to restore our fellowship with God, but He never condemns those who belong to Christ. If you've been weighed down by past mistakes or struggling with guilt, this episode will remind you that your sin has been forgiven through the blood of Jesus. Because Christ is your Advocate, you can confidently come to the Father, knowing you are fully loved, completely forgiven, and forever accepted.

Who then is like me?” Isaiah 44: 6-7 The Bible Stands Alone In Old Testament times, God gave his people a visible reminder of his presence called the Ark of the Covenant. There was a time when the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines who had defeated Israel in battle and claimed the ark as their prize. Since they already believed in many gods, why not add the God of Israel as well? So, they placed the ark in the temple of their god, Dagon. The next morning, when they went to worship Dagon, there he lay, facedown before the ark of the Lord! So, Dagon was put back in his place. The next morning, it was the same result—Dagon facedown before the ark of the Lord, but this time his head and hands had broken off. Message received! The ark needed to go back to Israel because Dagon could not handle being in the presence of the Lord. (1 Samuel 5) God has placed in our hearts an awareness that there is a God and a desire to know that God. Throughout the course of human history, different gods and goddesses, spirits, and mystical powers have been proclaimed as gods. But “who then is like me?” asks the Lord. The best that the false worshippers could hope for is that their gods and goddesses would send rain and grow their fields and grow their families and flocks. If they gave the right sacrifices, perhaps those gods would listen. The Lord God stands alone. He does something that sinful minds couldn’t have even imagined. He came to us, wearing our flesh and blood. He redeemed us, taking our sinful failures upon himself. He loves us, promising his presence with us through life and preparing a place in eternity with him when this life comes to its close. Truly, the God of the Bible stands alone. Prayer: Lord God, help me to see you for you who are—eternal, powerful, and singular in your love for fallen humanity. Move my heart to serve you in my life. Amen. To me, one of the most fascinating characters in the Bible is Judah, the 4th son of Jacob. His life is a tell-all of debauchery, betrayal, tragedy and loss. But our great God of mercy makes it clear that His grace has no bounds when it comes to His children. In the Bible profile series, …
