The exhibition was curated by independent immersive curator Ana Brzezińska, and will also feature other AR pieces, screen-based work, but also an exhibit detailing a brief history and evolution of immersive art and immersive storytelling from different design disciplines. I had a chance to catch up with Brzezińska to get a bit more context on her design intention for this exhibition, to talk about the current state of immersive art and storytelling, as well as her current focus on brining this work to traditional cultural institutions that are reaching out to mainstream audiences. Originally issued September 15th, 2023In this episode, I talk with Nikolas Schreck about his initiatory journey and what he learned among the way. It is a fascinating discussion that I think finishes with some profound thoughts and comments. Along the way, we also discuss music and the divine feminine.Acclaimed by Austria‘s Evolver magazine as “already a legend in his lifetime‘‘, singer-songwriter, author and film-maker Nikolas Schreck's initiatory application of music, ritual and theater formally began in 1984 when he returned to the West from a life-changing spiritual pilgrimage in Egypt to found the shapeshifting musical ensemble Radio Werewolf, a nine-year sonic magic operation which concluded in 1993. After pioneering early Los Angeles Gothic and deathrock with the band's first incarnation, Radio Werewolf's European phase was hailed by Christopher Walton of the band Endura for “simultaneously pre-empting and giving birth to the dark-ambient and ritual-industrial scene of the 1990's.” Before embarking on his current solo career, Schreck has previously collaborated musically with Zeena, John Murphy, Kingdom of Heaven and Sir Christopher Lee, whose first album he produced.Schreck's books include The Manson File: Myth & Reality of an Outlaw Shaman, Demons of the Flesh: The Complete Guide to Left-Hand Path Sex Magic (written with Zeena Schreck), The Satanic Screen, and Flowers from Hell. He is the director of the 1989 documentary Charles Manson Superstar, and has appeared in several films, including Mortuary Academy and Usher. His album The Illusionist was released in August 2019 on the Records Ad Nauseam, his albums and EPs Berlin Noir, O A Weird Flower, SCHRECK 2020: I'm Afraid of America and The Futura Model are available on BandcampNikolas can be found on Facebook, Instagram and other social media outlets. He is also on Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolas_Schreck.His music is available on outlets like Spotify and Bandcamp.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-magical-world-of-g-michael-vasey--4432257/support.

Welcome back to The Trip Report Podcast, a production of Beckley Waves, a Psychedelic Venture Studio.Today, I am speaking with Ken Jordan, co-founder and Editorial Director of Lucid News, an AP-style journalistic platform covering all aspects of the psychedelic field.Ken is a longtime journalist, writer, and media entrepreneur. In 2007, Ken co-founded The Evolver and Reality Sandwich, digital media platforms dedicated to the emerging consciousness movement. And in 2020, he and his co-founder, journalist Ann Harrison, founded Lucid News to cover the psychedelics field. My goal for this conversation is to get a snapshot of the moment, as difficult as that may be, with the help of someone who has been in the weeds as much as I have for the last four years.Like other guests on The Trip Report, Ken and I regularly connect to swap ideas, share insights, and discuss the evolution of the psychedelic movement. A theme of this conversation is the growing pains the field is undergoing, the challenges of macroeconomic headwinds, and the relatively slow progress of policy reform and clinical trials compared to the amount of hype and optimism of 18-24 months ago.In this conversation, we talk about:* The early days of the psychedelic “sector” * Ken's perspective as a longtime media entrepreneur with an interest and focus on psychedelics and consciousness * The major inflection point that was the MAPS Psychedelic Science 2023 conference, an overwhelming convergence of the many factions and siloed psychedelic communities  * “The wild idea,” as Ken says, “that the money right now is in a really active gray market. That's making chocolates you can buy in every cannabis bodega in New York.”* Ken's optimism about the authorities' loosening of concern about psychedelics* The lack of organized opposition against decriminalization and legalization efforts* The key differences between the psychedelic renaissance of the 1960s and todayAnd now, without further ado, I bring you my conversation with Ken Jordan.Listen to the episode on Substack, Spotify, Google or Apple.Credits:* Hosted by Zach Haigney * Produced by Zach Haigney, Erin Greenhouse, and Katelin Jabbari* Find us at thetripreport.com* Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube* Theme music by MANCHO Sounds, Mixed and Mastered by Rollin Weary This is a public episode. This week Ken grabs a pizza at Comet Ping Pong with returning guest author and musician Nikolas Schreck to dissect the ever-rising tide of modern conspiracy theory. We look at some of the misconceptions of the more Occult and Left Hand Path theories, as well as discuss Nikolas' own experiences as a victim of the Satanic Panic. This week: Nikolas' new conspiracy research group OASIS, Why Nikolas is still the object of conspiracy, the dark side of modern conspiracy culture, and much more. Main theme by Simon Smerdon (Mothboy) Music bed by chriszabriskie.com Nikolas Schreck's music on Bandcamp Nikolas Schreck socials https://linktr.ee/nikolasschreck Nikolas Schreck Bio: Nikolas Schreck is an American singer/songwriter, musician, author, and filmmaker. Acclaimed by Austria‘s Evolver magazine as “already a legend in his lifetime‘‘, singer-songwriter, author, and film-maker Nikolas Schreck's initiatory application of music, ritual, and theater formally began in 1984 when he returned to the West from a life-changing spiritual pilgrimage in Egypt to found the shapeshifting musical ensemble Radio Werewolf, a nine-year sonic magic operation which concluded in 1993. After pioneering early Los Angeles Gothic and deathrock with the band's first incarnation, Radio Werewolf's European phase was hailed by Christopher Walton of the band Endura for “simultaneously pre-empting and giving birth to the dark-ambient and ritual-industrial scene of the 1990s.” Before embarking on his current solo career, Schreck has previously collaborated musically with Zeena, John Murphy, Kingdom of Heaven, and Sir Christopher Lee, whose first album he produced. Schreck's books include The Manson File: Myth & Reality of an Outlaw Shaman, Demons of the Flesh: The Complete Guide to Left-Hand Path Sex Magic (written with Zeena Schreck), The Satanic Screen, and Flowers from Hell. He is the director of the 1989 documentary Charles Manson Superstar and has appeared in several films, including Mortuary Academy and Usher.

Joan was fortunate enough to be one of the lucky attendees to the recent Paul discussion with Conan O'Brien for the launch of the "Eyes of the Storm" book. Her luck does not run out there! She then bought a copy of the book which was SIGNED BY PAUL. Only 175 and available from the UK only. She bought the book, made the trek to London to obtain in. Then cashing in, she attended a "Evolver 63" presentation by Mark Lewisohn. As if that wasn't enough she then hiked it up to Liverpool, stayed overnight in the Hard Day's Night Hotel, attended a Paul Tribute Show at the Cavern on his Birthday, and visited all 4 Beatles childhood homes, before heading back to London to return home. Wow. Is all we can say! Congratulations Joan and thank you for sharing this incredible experience with us!

Does Islam Believe in Evolution?

TheSincereSeeker's Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 3, 2023 6:03

In general, Muslims accept the theory of evolution-- there are many types of evolution Muslims have no issue affirming. Muslims generally have no problems with the concept of microevolution. Muslims have no issues affirming the evolution of animals over time, adapting to their environment, and developing an immunity to negotiate their environment. For example, the beaks of an animal can evolve to assume different shapes and sizes to access food on a particular island better, or an animal can develop thicker skin over the years to survive better in their habitat. This process displays the power and intelligence of the Creator of all, God the Almighty. Muslims also do not have an issue believing that all animals might have come from the same origin animal because this belief doesn't go against the Holy Quran and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. A name of Allah, after all, is Al-Bari, which means the Evolver, the giver of forms. On the other hand, Muslims cannot accept Darwinian evolution or human evolution, where human beings evolved from pre-human ancestors, as it goes against the Holy Quran. We believe everything stated in the Holy Quran because we have good reasons to believe that the entire text came from our Creator. The Holy Quran explicitly states that God fashioned Adam with his own two hands. God created Adam as a fully formed man, not a baby. He created Adam PBUH from a pool of mud with components of clay, soil, Earth, and water. Then God breathed life into him. Then God taught him the name of all things. Then he brought down Prophet Adam PBUH to this Earth. From Adam and Eve came multitudes of men and women. Adam was born miraculously without the intervention or presence of a father or a mother. Human beings were created separately from animals and other creations. "Recall when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud" (Quran 15:28) "O humanity! Be mindful of your Lord Who created you from a single soul, and from it He created its mate, and through both He spread countless men and women..." (Quran 4:1) It's imperative to note that the miraculous creation of Adam PBUH cannot be confirmed or rejected by science, nor can science disprove the existence of God. Since science is restricted to providing natural explanations explaining how things work, it cannot explain who created things and why. We need Revelation and religion to provide these explanations. Everything around us is living evidence of an intelligent designer behind it. The origin of our universe has a cause, and we know that chaos cannot create such an intelligently designed system. However, the scientific method cannot indicate the cause of the creation of the universe and why it was created since science looks only at nature—that is, what we can observe, touch, see, and smell--and tries to find natural explanations, excluding anything outside of nature. As for things outside of the natural world, science has no way of dealing with them. Science doesn't take into account the metaphysical realm, the unseen world, so science cannot include explanations not based on nature, like pointing to the Divine as the cause of the universe's inception.  "And Allah has created from water every living creature. Some of them crawl on their bellies, some walk on two legs, and some walk on four. Allah creates whatever He wills. Surely Allah is Most Capable of everything" (Quran 24:45)

Forecasting (and really all parts of selling) grows more successful when you communicate value. In today's episode of The Sales Evangelist, Donald is joined by Tom “The ROI Guy” Pisello. As an entrepreneur, speaker, and author of the book Evolved Selling™: Optimizing Sales Enablement in the Age of Frugalnomics, Tom specializes in value to get the most out of your efforts.  Three big trends characterize the post-pandemic era of sales: First, there's a tremendous amount of sales turnover. While the Great Resignation is not news, sales will struggle to retain top sellers in favor of faster-growing companies.  Second, the buyer is changing. They're in control of the buying process, cautious of the seller, and more economically focused than ever - it's the decision by risk aversion. Third, we're in an environment where sales is understaffed, you need engagement, the buyer is more challenging to sell to, and predictable revenue is decreasing. How do we find (and retain) great talent? Growing a team will be challenging. Of course, throwing money and benefits at it is part of the equation, but you also must provide intangible benefits like career development to make your position seem worthwhile. What is the purpose of your organization or group? And more importantly, how can you include new personnel to feel that they actively work towards that purpose? Create an atmosphere of authenticity that suits your personnel to retain talent. It's not just a long game for selling; it's a long game for hiring. Overcoming the ice-cold buyers: Buyers have incredible access to resources and information than ever, even compared to a few years ago. Sellers used to be in control, but now it's the opposite. In that, they have information overload. And great salespeople guide prospects through this challenge.  The curated content a salesperson supply is an excellent direction for the next generation of salespeople. If you can show that pain is worth addressing (and that you provide a uniquely differentiating solution), you demonstrate a fiscal reason to make a decision. Tackling the issue of predictability: The old way of leveraging spreadsheets and expert resources within the organization no longer works - only 17% approach forecasting scientifically. We now have systems that track multiple criteria, but they act in silos. Aggregating data points to develop a more comprehensive and data-driven forecast will yield more accurate results. Know what “good” looks like so you know what to focus on. What works to close a deal, and what are the associated steps? Visualize patterns to prioritize to understand the correlations and next best actions. Episode Resources: For more great content from Tom, connect with him on LinkedIn or visit evolvedselling.com.
