When I went out on my first solo trip, I was fascinated by the way budget backpacking seemed like a rite of passage. A tradition to create a unique travel experience, and share backpacker knowledge that is passed down from traveler to traveler over many years. We will explore the idea that even while traveling alone, you are never really alone. How these connections can lead to so many doors opening like future work, learning new traits and practices, and even lead to the most memorable travel adventures. Todays episode is audio from a webinar I presented for the Nomdaic Network in June 2021. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joel-serot/support

We all have met people who dream of quitting the nine to five rat race, for a life of more adventure and travel. Courtney Condy is one of those lucky few who actually went for it, and in 2015 she found herself on a trek of a lifetime to the Everest Basecamp in Nepal. It was April 2015, and on the 25th of that month, Nepal was hit by a devastating 8.0 magnitude earthquake, that rocked the city as well as the surrounding mountain ranges leaving thousands dead and even more injured. Suddenly a trek of a lifetime became quick reminder of how fragile life can actually be. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joel-serot/support
