Welcome to the second part of my conversation with Debra Corey and Ken Corey where we'll continue to explore the themes of their book called Bad Bosses Ruin Lives: The Building Blocks of Being a Great Boss. In the first part of our conversation, in the previous episode, we looked at what makes a Bad Boss and the impacts of that but in this episode, the focus is on being a Great Boss. How can you, as a Leader or Manager, be great and remembered for that, and how can you continue to learn and develop as a leader - that's what we cover in this episode. I'll also ask them what it was like working together on this project. Thank you to Debra and Ken for joining me in this conversation. I hope you've found it useful. How will you use the themes discussed in our conversation to shape your development or that of others? If you have thoughts or questions, share them in the comments or connect on LinkedIn. In this episode, I'm in conversation with Debra Corey and Ken Corey, who have recently released their book Bad Bosses Ruin Lives: The Building Blocks of Being a Great Boss. When I heard about the book, I knew we needed to share it with you, and this is a great discussion where we unpack what it means to be a bad boss but, more importantly, how to be a great boss. This conversation will be over two parts, and in this first part, we'll be talking about what they discovered in their research of bad bosses, what causes bad bosses and their impact. Reality is, even those who are great bosses will have moments that miss the mark - this is about understanding yourself better as a Leader and Manager - how you can help yourself stay aware and keep growing through better awareness. A huge thank you to Debra and Ken for sharing so much about what they found out about Bad bosses.  Have you worked for a Bad Boss before, do you see aspects of it in yourself - then get involved in the conversation in the comments or over on LinkedIn. In the next episode, we'll be jumping into what being a Great Boss looks and feels like and how to keep developing. I also asked Debra and Ken what working together on their book was like! In this episode, I'm in conversation with Tara Leach. Tara is a specialist in race equality. We're exploring racism and how to talk about it with your team. This is challenging, but it's really important. Tara and I have worked together on creating a guide to help you have conversations about racism with your team, and there is also a guide on how to prepare for these conversations. See the links below. We decided to record this podcast episode because we felt that this critical topic needed more than a written guide. We felt that a conversation would give this topic more depth and be even more helpful. We'll cover a lot of valuable insight and practical ideas, which we hope will help you take action on having conversations about racism with your team. Rather than edit it down, we've split this important conversation into two episodes. They will both be available at the same time, so you won't need to wait if you want to watch it all in one go. In this first part of the conversation, we'll be exploring allyship, representation and safe spaces. A big thank you from me to Tara for sharing her expertise and insights during this conversation Guides: 1) How to prepare for conversations about racism: March 2023 - How to prepare for conversations about racism. — Purple Sky (purpleskyconsulting.co.uk) 2) How to have conversations about racism with your team: How to Have Conversations about Racism with Your Team — Purple Sky (purpleskyconsulting.co.uk).   A recording will be available on YouTube by 2.2.24: Purple Sky Consulting - YouTube   For any feedback or follow-up questions, get in touch via: LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/anwen-bottois-leadership-coach/ Email: anwen@purpleskyconsulting.co.uk
