FAITH KILLERS' SERIES: #1 — WRONG FOUNDATION God so loved the world that He gave His Son to die to redeem it. As many as believe by faith in His son and His sacrifice become God's children. Our salvation is all about God and His love for fallen humanity: whoever thinks that he/she can add to God's righteousness through his/her works has not really believed. The broadcast encourages God's children and all who will come to believe to continue building their faith through dependence on Christ alone and not on any human being. ——— Are you aware that on our YouTube channel, you can watch more than 100 videos (videos you can share, use in Sunday schools, teach others, and evangelize) in high definition? In this homily given at St Pat's on November 27, 2022, Fr. Mathias kicks off a four-part Advent preaching series on the basic gospel message. The gospel gives us the context of knowing who we are, where we are going and how to get there. It is by means of the gospel we come to understand everything else in Christianity. Using the the framework and preaching of Fr. John Riccardo and Acts XXIXI as a foundation, the purpose of this series is two fold: 1) to help us again make a decision to surrender our lives to Jesus in faith to become his disciple and 2) so that we can familiarize ourselves again with the outline of our story, which not only will help us live the gospel, but also help us share it with others. The memorable four parts of the gospel message are:1) The goodness of creation (Created)2) Sin and its consequences (Captured)3) What God has done with sin and its consequences (Rescued) 4) Our response to God for what he's done (Response)In this week's session, Fr. Mathias unpacks what God reveals about himself and creation and humanity in the book of Genesis and how that differs from other cultures at the time. As the pinnacle of creation man and woman are made in the image and likeness of God. Since we were loved into being and called to love, Father shares with us the wonder of what it is like to be loved by the Creator of the universe. If all this is so, then why is the world so obviously messed up? That's the subject of next week's homily. For additional presentations on the gospel, please see Acts XXIX (www.actsxxix.org) and the book Rescued by Fr. John Riccardo.

Bringing Blessing! We're starting our Advent series this year by thinking about Abram/Abraham and the covenant that God made with him in Genesis 12. What is God's plan? What are His desires – not only for Abram but also for us today? What are the blessings in our lives? How can we share those blessings? How can we be a blessing? So many questions that we tried to share today as we enter the holy season of advent "waiting" upon the Lord. Begin the season of Advent by listening to this week's podcast and begin considering how Jesus is “born in us today.”

In today's episode, we are pleased to share with you our very first radio play. The play we will be sharing with you today is called Gravity and it was written by Katie Caden. Caden is an alumnus of Soho Writers Lab and has had her work performed at Vault festival, the Bunker Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Theatre 503, Camden People's Theatre and Battersea Arts Centre. Her last show 'Paper Straws', produced by her theatre company PearShaped, won the Vault Origins award and her first play 'Are You Happy Now' was shortlisted for Lyric Hammersmith's Original Theatre Voices competition. Caden's writing explores contemporary issues, and interrogates the way we live our lives today, experimenting with form and often using humour as a way to communicate serious issues. She writes to understand other people, and herself, exploring why we behave in the way we do? Why do we make poor decisions and repeat our mistakes? And what drives us to hurt each other or conversely express our love? Writing 'Gravity' in response to Unfeeling, the theme for this year's issue, allowed Caden to consider these things and, in particular, how people can express their love through their actions whilst saying they don't care, and conversely how we can tell people we love them and then behave like we don't. All the characters battle with these impulses and the push and pull between feeling too much and feeling nothing at all. Alongside this, Caden has included technology almost as an extra character, interfering with these dynamics, pulling attention away from the situation at hand, and impacting the characters' ability to feel to the fullest extent. What exactly is your goal in going to the gym? If your ultimate goal is optimizing your body, you're not going to a gym to lift weights and use machines. Lifting weights, the movements, and the machines help you do what you must do, but your goal is really to target specific muscle groups. Our body does not want to change; it wants to be efficient. So we have to put it in a situation where it has no choice but to adapt. Welcome to a bonus episode in our training series. Pay close attention because this topic definitely gives you some practical advantages. “Changing your body is hard, it's difficult, especially building muscle. Dropping fat is a lot easier than building muscle. It happens a lot quicker; it's easier to do. Building muscle is far more difficult, far more challenging.”– Andy Naylor In This Episode:-Exercise execution - Your form, how you move, the intention of the movement, and the position you put your body in-Why it matters - You don't want to waste time and energy, plus your body does not want to change; it wants to be efficient-Here are some examples - Movements, depths, tempo, stability, and range of movements Connect with Andy Naylor: - Instagram- Facebook- Facebook Group- LinkedIn- YouTube- TikTok

The Holiday Season is here!!! Some of you might think "YAY!" and get on my level about the holidays. Is anyone else ready to start playing Christmas music the day after Halloween??? Or maybe you are not of those people and hearing this made you gag a little. I will tell you friends I haven't always been this chipper about the holiday season. There was a season that this time really stressed me out. I would enter the holiday season nervous about seeing people— I didn't want them to see me and witness the weight I gained or felt like I gained that year. I didn't want to be around all the food, knowing every bite would be an internal battle. Don't eat this, but I want to eat this, ok fine one bite, crap! It is so good now I want it all! Insert all the food followed with boatloads of guilt and play this scenario on repeat all season long. It stole precious time from me and robbed me of joy during the holidays. Whatever emotion you bring into the holiday season I am here to be a little voice in your ear to let you know you have the power to rewrite your experience THIS year. This doesn't have to be a season you GET THROUGH, rather you hold the key to making it a season you not only grow through… but find joy in. Today I am kicking off a 3-episode series: Happy Holiday Eating and my mission here is this: To help you find that sparkle this holiday season. Regardless of your past experiences with holidays, your food struggles, the weight you may or may not have gained this year, despite the difficult people you might be around or the busy schedule that we all have coming… I don't want to hear any of you say “I just need to get through the holidays” no sisters, we are here to be in the moment, especially during the holiday season and we hold the key to our own happiness. This is where we let our empowered eating skills not only shine on our plates, but they also show up in how we live. I am praying this prepares you and encourages you this holiday season… today's episode is on mindful eating and how this is the key to keeping you from overeating or battling guilt. Are you ready to grow? Let's do it! For more details on how to become an empowered eater check out the FREE Body Confidence Method Workshop. I created this training to help you feel more confident and strong in your body without obsessing over food or wasting time on another failed diet. Did I mention it's TOTALLY FREE? You in??? Cheers, and happy (holiday) eating! Jess

The first Red Dwarf DVD was released twenty years ago today. Yes, we regret to inform you that you're old. The fourth of November 2002 is a date indelibly printed on the brains of fans who spent months being teased and tantalised into a frenzy. Kids today with your YouTubes and your Netflixes and your Ministry of Sound may not appreciate just how big of a deal it was for Dwarf to join the digital revolution in such a wholehearted way, so gather round and listen to your Uncles Cappsy, Danny and Ian as we kick off a new series of DwarfCast retrospectives. For each edition of Re-Disc-overy, we're going to be sharing our memories of each DVD release, looking back on the media and fandom landscapes of the time, and of course revisiting and reassessing the many, many special features. Plus, we've picked out one extra per series to receive the commentary treatment, and this time it could only be Launching Red Dwarf. So get that lovely red box off your shelf, remove the dust from your ageing DVD player and join us as we discuss Red Dwarf's greatest unsung hero, unicycling jugglers, embarrassing Dimension Jump memories, the glory of Woolworths and much much more.Show notes "Because the Red Dwarf movie's happening at the moment, we thought now would be an ideal time." Ian's contemporary review, published on the day of release Cappsy's contemporary review, published 26 days after release. Just saying. The Series 1 extras don't have subtitles, because Doug Naylor hates deaf people. So Danny has compiled subs for Launching Red Dwarf if anyone wants them. The TOS archives aren't conclusive about whether or not the commentaries and Launching Red Dwarf interviews were recorded on the same day, but note that none of them are wearing the same things in the doc as they are in these pictures from the commentary session. A double page spread from the Making Of book, the context of which will become clear when you listen. Maybe. Are you getting bored doing the same training program for a month or even longer and have stopped seeing results? You probably think it may be time to change things up. But that's not exactly the right thing to do. In this episode, Andy talks about why people change things up, why it's not a wise move and the better solution. If there's one thing you must do, be more methodical and laser-focused in your approach. Stick to movements that work for you until you extract the maximum progress over time. Then, you can swap one activity at a time. Finally, focus on your long-term goal. Listen if you want to know how to overcome this feeling of boredom and discover a better option instead of changing things up indiscriminately. “If the result is not the thing that is the most important to you, swap everything you like, do what you want, I don't care. But what I see from people who swap things is a complete lack of consistency in the training.” – Andy Naylor In This Episode: -Common reasons people decide to change things up -Why changing things up is not a wise move -What's a better solution? You have three main variables to play with after creating your training split and selecting your favored exercises. Of course, you cannot max out all three, there must be a balance, but do you even know what they are? In this 3rd episode of Andy's new training series, he talks about the three key variables you must balance: volume, intensity, and frequency. Your job is to create a plan, stick with it, monitor progress and results, and then adjust ONE thing at a time to see if you can make better progress. Tune in to the episode to learn more about the three key areas and how you can balance them out properly to achieve your goals. “You just need to make a plan. Decide what it is that you're gonna do and then run it. And then watch what happens. Track the results. Standardize everything else, your food, your water, your rest, your sleep, your intensity.” – Andy Naylor In This Episode: -Volume - Weight x Reps x Sets: The volume of the work you're doing needs to go up over time. If not, you have a problem! -Intensity - How HARD do you train? Most people think they have this figured out when in fact, it's the one thing most people are worst at -Frequency - How often do you train a muscle or body part? -These three variables do not work in isolation - How do you balance the variables so you can achieve your goals? Phillies ace Zack Wheeler was pitching a great game until late in the sixth inning, when the Braves went on a rally thanks to a HBP on Ronald Acuna Jr.'s elbow and a miscue by 1B Rhys Hoskins with two outs that led to the Braves scoring three runs and taking Game 2. Sheil Kapadia and Pat Gallen of CBS Philadelphia talk about the upsetting loss, and what to expect from the Phils as they return home to host a playoff game at Citizens Bank Park for the first time in 11 years.
