Ramble On

The Ramble On podcast returns for its third and final season! Jimmy and Alex kick off season three in Minas Tirith on the edge of a battle they can't escape. The men of Gondor are preparing for Sauron's final blow while meanwhile, Aragorn is faced with a difficult decision with the fate of Middle Earth in the balance.

Gollum and the hobbits find themselves at the mouth of the stench-filled tunnel. They are confronted with a difficult choice: Go in... or go back... Jimmy and Alex join our hobbits in their quest through Shelob's lair as the duo wrap up season two, the end of the Two Towers.

Gollum continues to lead Frodo and Sam to the shadows of the Ephel Duath. They plan to take the secret stairs to Cirith Ungol and pass secretly into the land of shadow. However, they must pass through the Morgul vale and the bridge to Minas Morgul. Listen in as Jimmy and Alex break down the the final few chapters of the Two Towers as Frodo Sam near the end of their journey.

After deciding that they will follow Gollum through the perilous journey to Cirith Ungol Frodo and Sam encounter a new company. Are they friend or foe? Jimmy and Alex explore the continuation of the hobbits' journey and give a newly introduced character a chance to show his quality...

Frodo and Sam continue on their journey to Mordor guided by our new friend Gollum. In this episode Jimmy and Alex chronicle the trio's journey through the dead marshes and give a little history of Middle Earth and the Black Gate.

Episode 6 of Season 2 brings a pause to our Rohan/Isengard-based story line and finally brings us back to a couple characters you may have forgotten about. Jimmy and Alex discuss Pippin's visions in the Palantir until their discussion leads East to the Emyn Muil where Frodo and Sam are struggling to make their way out of the labyrinth of razor sharp rocks. They manage to escape the treachery of the Emyn Muil only to be introduced to a new conflict - a sulking character who seems to be struggling with conflicts of his own.

This episode of the podcast highlights the resolution of the conflicts at Isengard and Helm's deep. Jimmy and Alex wind it down with in depth descriptions of the siege of Orthanc and the rise and and fall of Saruman the White who gets less credit than he deserves as one of the great characters in the Tolkien universe.

Theoden empties Edoras and makes for the Fords of Isen to confront Saruman's forces. Plans change when they find out what has happened to some of the Rohirrim who have gone before them. They make for the refuge of Helm's Deep where things get ~intense~. Join Jimmy and Alex as they debate the depiction of the Battle of Helm's Deep in the Peter Jackson's adaption of Tolkien's epic tale.
