After an accidental wormhole jump on September 6th, the Crew of the Black Swirl finally re-emerges slightly upgraded, emotionally scarred, and deeply confused by everything that happened while they were gone. In this comeback episode, the crew runs a systems check with “What the FRUX Has Happened?!?”, covering AI voices everywhere, a surprise N64 renaissance, reboot overload, major franchise shifts, the current state of disclosure, and whatever the hell Pluribus was supposed to be. They also bring back a classic with Would You Rather, because some social nightmares and existential questions survive every timeline.INTERSTELLAR INDEX

From the rise of Gollum as one of cinema's most complex characters to the legendary Battle of Helm's Deep, this movie doesn't just continue the story… it escalates everything. We break down Aragorn's leadership arc, Legolas and Gimli's rivalry, the emotional weight of Frodo and Sam's journey, and why Helm's Deep still stands as one of the greatest battle sequences ever put on film. And yes, we debate whether this might secretly be the strongest film of the trilogy. As always, we pair this fantasy epic with some booze-worthy brews fit for the halls of Rohan. So grab a drink, sharpen your blade, and join us as we kick off Season 7 with an episode worthy of the White Tree.Clear eyes. Full fellowship. Can't lose. Support the show

We are excited to release the main talks from our last Fall Conference, which was "VICTORIOUS: Equipped for the Battle, Anchored in Christ" and focused on spiritual warfare and the unseen battle for the next generation across Europe. Our annual Josiah Venture Fall Conference is designed to equip our team for the year of ministry ahead. Every conference includes amazing teaching, worship, and fellowship. At the 2025 gathering, we learned to see the unseen, stand with authority, and fight with spiritual power—anchored in Christ's ultimate victory. We invite you to join us in being equipped for the battle. In this episode, entitled "Living in the Ongoing Battle," Kristy Williams, a missionary in Ukraine, shares about how we find victory in a battle that seems like it will never end. She reminds us that suffering is never for nothing in the spiritual realm and that the mature in Christ know how to both mourn or lament the battle and take action to exercise faith in God and his ultimate victory. As you hear these stories, please pray for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and pray that the war will end. February 24th, 2026, marks four years of full-scale war. Forth Eorlingas! This week we toss Gimli face first into the forces of the Enemy. It's another four hour tour of Middle Earth, and this time, we brought Ents.Is the middle film of a trilogy ever the best one? In this case, the jury's out, but one thing is for certain: it has the weirdest title of all three.Topics explored this week include: Legolas's whole deal, the groundbreaking creation of Sméagol, Merry and Pippin blazin' it with Treebeard, Helm's Deep, Helm's Deep, and a LOT more Helm's Deep.Next week, we complete the holy trinity with RETURN OF THE KING (2003), and then we promise we'll never talk about Rings again (just kidding, the Ring has corrupted us and there's no turning back now). CONSTANTINOPLE AS HELM'S DEEP AND THE LATIN-GREEK SCHISM Colleagues Gaius and Germanicus, Friends of History Debating Society, Londinium, 91 AD. The final segment eulogizes Constantinople as a "perfect," intentionally designed city that served as "Helm's Deep" for Western civilization, preserving law, credit, and military organization when the rest of the West was atomized. The speakers detail the tragic sack of the city in 1204 by Latin Crusaders, describing it as a betrayal driven by the enduring envy and "bipolar tension" between the Latin West and the Greek East. This event stripped the city of its "divine" status and gold, ending its role as a sanctuary. They conclude by linking this ancient schism to the modern world, positing that the current geopolitical conflict between the US (the inheritor of the Latin West) and Russia (centered in Moscow, the successor to the Greek East) is a continuation of this unresolved cultural and religious struggle. Journey with us and special guest Jonathan as we dive into this wild sequel that puts the pieces in place for its inevitable finale. We discuss everything Gollum and the show stopping scene that is Helm's Deep. Is this one of the best sequels of all time or is hampered by being the second act of a three act film? So pour some rye, cook up some taters, and get ready to showdown with Gollum and a whole bunch of nasty orcs. Cheers!
