Redcoat Radio ran on Bay Radio, Aberystwyth University's Student Radio Station between 2012 and 2015. Hosted by three intrepid adventurers (and later one work experience boy), they discuss everything and nothing. There's a whole lotta nothing. This is a podcast version of the full show; all banter, no music. Unfortunately, some episodes are lost to time, such is the way of things. The good news is, a good chunk survived and is ready to be listened to now! Lemme just count you in...
This week (12/03/2014), it's awards season as the boys trawl through the video game BAFTAs and discuss their own awards hopes, as well as another round of News or Nonsense and discover a rather musically-inclined avian.
This week (26/02/2014), it's definitely a show of two halves. The first hour, the boys discuss their hopes for Disney's Star Wars, the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Pokemon, and Kim Jong Il's sporting prowess. The second half... well, you'll see.
This week (04/02/2014), the boys do something a little off-brand. They talk about sport. Well, for a bit. They cover the 2014 Superbowl, Sochi Winter Olympics and Catholicism before delving back into video games and the first ever Redcoat slap bet.
This week (29/01/2014), the boys discuss their Christmas escapades, discuss the Gallagher brothers' bar dreams, zombie games, Assassin's Creed, and yet another tussle between an Australian and a shark.
In this "Christmas" episode (11/12/2013), the boys delve into even more Fallout rumours, the curious case of an impostor interpreter, China's invisibility cloak, and Kieran's Muppet tendencies. Editor's note: As it's the end of term, the guys are a bit buzzed on Generic Energy Drink, and as such get a bit rowdy sometimes. This affects the audio quality in places, but the content is the same level of wacky as always. Enjoy!
In this gaming special (04/12/2013), the boys dive into their favourites moments in video games, from Fallout and Fable, to The Last of Us and Mass Effect. Also discussed is a curious website named 'Survivor 2299'...
This week (27/11/2013), the boys discuss exploding whales, Pepsi's military presence, and one man's very unusual trip to the hotel. All this and more on Redcoat Radio!
This week (20/11/2013), the boys discuss scientific inaccuracies in jokes, Doctor Who's 50th anniversary, and a dictator impersonator named Howard.
This week (13/11/2013), the boys (now with man-child Nathan aboard) discuss the extinction of the African Black Rhino, hunting for Bigfoot, and what happens when an octogenarian squares off against a bear. Editor's note: this was technically the fourth show of the second season, but due to awkward technical issues this is the first one with an available recording. Yay.
In their final show before the summer (29/05/2013), the boys bemoan Dan's inability to organise his time, talk about post-exam plans and local earthquakes, and we see the return of Kieran's music quiz (headache warning!).
This week (22/05/2013), Alex, Kieran and returning guest Stefan discuss the reveal of the Xbox One (remember that?), summer plans, pranks, and Kieran dips his toe into the world of music quizzes.
This week (15/05/2013), the boys discuss the Star Wars prequels, their trip to watch Star Trek, and get an update on Kieran's bean count.
In a frankly bonkers episode (08/05/2013), the boys in the studio are joined by not one, but TWO special guests! We see the return of Stefan (aka Scouse Dan) and, making his RR debut, Mr. David Motley! It's pretty hard to pin down conversation topics this week, it's just half an hour of friends chatting inanely. What fun!
This week (24/04/2013), the boys discuss Royal abdication and general speculation, flatmate behaviour, and Dan's preferred t-shirt style.
In this episode (first broadcast 20/03/2013), the boys discuss Comic Relief, Kim Jong Il's personal life, and Dan's Media Studies GCSE.
In this episode (13/03/2013), the boys discuss papal elections, shark attacks, and art school!
In this episode (first broadcast 06/03/2013), Dan talks about trains, Kieran teaches the world about Fidel Castro's Parrot, and Alex coughs!
In this episode (broadcast 27/02/2013), Dan gets a haircut! Also, the boys discuss the Sony conference, the announcement of Assassin's Creed IV, dad birthdays, and the difference between a dash and a hyphen.
In this episode (broadcast 20/02/2013), the boys attempt to talk about sport, meteors over Russia, and the introduction of Google glass.
In this Dan-less episode (broadcast 13/02/2013), Kieran and Alex are once again joined by Stefan (aka Scouse Dan) to shed some light on the week. This time, they discuss papal resignation, pancake day, the horse meat scandal, and "that guy who ate that guy's face that one time". Once again, in honour of Stefan (1994-2016). May his accent never get any better.
In this episode (broadcast 06/02/2013) the boys review Bierkellar, talk magicians, and Dan reminisces on the beauty of Valentine's Day.
In this festive episode (broadcast 12/12/2012), the boys are joined by a dear friend, talk all things Christmas, and Kieran tells the ultimate topical Christmas story-- for 2012, that is. Dedicated to and made infinitely funnier by: Stefan Osgood, 1994-2016 https://www.mind.org.uk/ https://www.samaritans.org/
In this episode (broadcast 05/12/2012), the boys discuss Royal babies, North Korea, and delve into some nuanced Harry Potter roleplay.
