Ramblings from the deep and meaningful to the shallow and meaningless... (previously the Priory Podcast)
Please go to: www.thanktheuniverse.org/thank-the-universe-podcast for more information... This episode is a re-release from our 2018 The Priory Podcast (now Thank The Universe) chat with Norwegian explorer, author, publisher, lawyer and father, Erling Kagge... To say Erling has led an extraordinary life is a massive understatement. As Erling explains in this episode, the childhoold struggle with Dyslexia and being the youngest brother gave him an internal drive and focus to become the first man to complete the 3 pole challenge. That is, reaching the North Pole, the South Pole (solo by they way!) as well as summiting Everest. The inspiration behind the interview was Erling's book, Silence: In the Age of Noise. A poetically written book exploring the physical noise as well as the noise of distraction in the modern world and the impact it is having on people. Thanks for tuning into the latest episode of the Thank The Universe podcast. After 12-18 months of trying, I finally managed to get author of Hidden History: Secret Origins of the First World War, Gerry Docherty on the podcast. This book is very important for anyone searching for the truth surrounding the start of World War I. For so many years, the mainstream narrative has held Germany solely accountable, which is a complete falsehood once we take the time to peel back the layers of the onion, like Gerry has done in his book. Unfortunately, we only had a limited time to chat, so we decided on 2 main points of discussion. Those are the creation of the British Secret Elite, that moved among the power brokers and super rich making decisions behind the scene as Gerry infers to with regards to King Edward. The second point we discuss is the change in attitude towards Germany and specifically the Kaiser after the death of Queen Victoria. Whatever the bare truth, we know that the sum of World War I is one of the greatest tragedies of our time, possibly of all time. And in order to either protest or speak out against something like this happening again, we must know what levels these Secret Elites will go to, to get their own way. The famous quote from George Orwell's 1984 "those who control the present control the past, those who control the past control the future..." Hope you enjoy the episode...
Nothing quite unifies people from different cultures and backgrounds like music does. Every generation has a musical ico, from Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and in the mid to late 70's, the explosion of punk rock, and more prominently, the rise of 'the only band that matters', The Clash! On this episode of the Thank The Universe podcast, we discuss the history of The Clash, with musician and musical writer, Rahman Bolach. He talks us through the rise and decline of one of the worls most influential bands. Rahman is a well of knowledge on The Clash and music in general. Anyone interested in why The Clash were so influential in their hey day, and why they still influence music and style 35 years after they officially split, will get a glimpse into their impact and level of influence from this podcast. Sunday Morning Yomp: Procrastination On this Sunday Morning Yomp, I pose the question about procrastination. What is it, and why and how does it affect so many of us so that we put off the important stuff?
