In this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're diving into 1976 – that wild year where America turned 200 with fireworks, flags, and music exploding everywhere. It is also the year where Ryan and I were born. And the music world celebrated us joining the party by releasing Hotel California from the Eagles, Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life, and Boston's Debut Album. David Bowie was The Thin White Duke. Disco was taking over the dance floors, while the Sex Pistols, Ramones, and The Clash were just getting started underground. There's plenty of great stuff to listen to, and debate so let's hit it. Episode Playlist Check out our episode playlist here. Tune in here to this Thursday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about the explosive political fallout surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s network and what he sees as the Democratic Party’s strategic deflection from larger global threats. He zeroes in on testimony involving Hillary Clinton and the anticipated appearance of Bill Clinton, while criticizing Congressman Robert Garcia for pushing to compel Donald Trump to testify. Brett argues that the focus on Trump is politically motivated and designed to shift attention away from foreign policy flashpoints like Iran and unrest in Cuba. We’re joined by Michael Whatley from the Republican National Committee to talk about the escalating legal clash over third-country deportations and the broader battle between the Trump administration and the federal judiciary. The conversation centers on a federal judge’s latest ruling blocking parts of the administration’s deportation policy, despite prior Supreme Court intervention. Brett frames the dispute as a constitutional showdown, arguing that the lower court is defying clear guidance from the high court and overstepping its authority. Check out Cam's latest novel / audio drama here! George R. R. Martin has a unique talent for ghost stories. In this episode, we continue to trace echoes and shadows across the blood-spattered halls of power in King's Landing. Maggie investigates the eerie comet hanging over every moment of the action, this time as a proxy for control. Cam sees another Targaryen mirage in the form of Joffrey Baratheon, and dives down a rabbit hole of dead kings and martyrs that totally reframes our understanding of Westerosi monarchs. We take a closer, more critical look at Cersei Lannister as a power player in the titular game of thrones, before finally tracking the ghost of Ned Stark as it doggedly haunts the steps of his similarly idealistic successor: Tyrion Lannister. The Superhero Show #614Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: RemembranceThe Superhero Show: Remembrance — Ghosts of the Past ResurfaceThis week on The Superhero Show, the hosts return to the world of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to unpack episode 1.09, “Remembrance.” In this emotionally charged chapter, the past refuses to stay buried as long-lost technology, painful memories, and old-world ambitions collide. Unlike the jungle-heavy action of previous episodes, Remembrance shifts focus inward—forcing Jack Tenrec and the residents of Sea City to confront history itself.Echoes of the Old WorldRemembrance begins with the discovery of preserved relics from the pre-apocalypse era—artifacts that stir curiosity and ambition in equal measure. When evidence surfaces suggesting the existence of advanced cryogenic technology, hope spreads through the city. Could survivors from the old world still be alive? The hosts highlight how the episode carefully builds intrigue. Instead of immediate action, the tension grows through possibility. The idea that someone from the ancient past might awaken sparks excitement—but also unease. After all, the old world is the one that collapsed.Awakening the PastWhen a preserved figure from before the great cataclysm is revived, Remembrance pivots from mystery to moral conflict. The awakened survivor carries knowledge, but also outdated ideals rooted in control, hierarchy, and technological dominance. The hosts explore how this character represents more than a person—he embodies the mindset that led to Earth's downfall. At first, the promise of forgotten science dazzles Sea City's leadership. However, Jack remains skeptical. He understands that progress without balance can be catastrophic. As the revived figure begins pushing for the reactivation of dangerous systems and old infrastructure, the tension rises sharply.Clash of IdealsThe heart of Remembrance lies in its philosophical battle. The old world valued power and expansion. Jack values harmony and sustainability. The hosts dive into how the episode stages this conflict not just through dialogue, but through escalating stakes as ancient systems threaten to destabilize the fragile ecosystem Sea City depends on.As dormant machinery hums back to life, the danger becomes immediate. Technology once meant to protect civilization now risks destroying what little has been rebuilt. The episode's action crescendos as Jack and Hannah scramble to shut down systems that should have remained relics.Letting Go to Move ForwardBy the conclusion of Remembrance, the message becomes clear: survival requires learning from the past, not resurrecting it wholesale. The revived figure's tragic arc underscores that nostalgia can be dangerous when it ignores the consequences of history. The hosts reflect on how this episode deepens the show's overarching themes. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs has always balanced spectacle with environmental caution, but Remembrance brings that philosophy to the forefront in a powerful way.Final Thoughts on RemembranceIn the end, Remembrance stands as one of the most thoughtful entries in the series. It trades pure action for emotional weight and philosophical stakes, reminding viewers that the greatest threats aren't always dinosaurs or poachers—sometimes they're the unresolved ghosts of yesterday.Tune in to The Superhero Show as the hosts break down every layered moment of Remembrance, exploring how the past shapes the future in a world still fighting to survive.Looking for More?Want to learn more about...

287: TechTime Radio: A landmark social‑media addiction trial, brain‑steered pigeons, and a global memory crunch collide in an hour that questions who really controls attention, autonomy, and access. We break down Zuckerberg's courtroom spotlight, the stakes of age‑verification and identity collection, and the eerie rise of biodrone pigeons that blur the line between experimentation and coercive tech. The conversation widens to AI‑driven DRAM shortages slowing devices, inflating prices, and reshaping hardware roadmaps, all while Copilot's sensitive‑email summarization misstep raises fresh questions about guardrails and trust. From bioethics to supply chains, the episode tracks how emerging systems quietly reshape daily life—from slower AI tools to pricier gadgets to new surveillance risks. We even detour into Japan's “Monster Wolf” deterrent, a reminder that strange inventions often surface deeper debates about safety and unintended consequences. And as always, we ground the big stories with our whiskey tasting and game segment, keeping the tech turbulence both sharp and fun.Full Details:A courtroom showdown, brain-steered birds, and a supply chain squeeze collide in a fast-moving hour where we probe who truly controls attention, autonomy, and access. We start with the landmark social media addiction trial putting Mark Zuckerberg under the spotlight and ask what “less than one percent of ad revenue” really means against testimony, internal emails, and the lived experiences of teens and parents. We debate how age verification could evolve, why “government made us do it” might justify deeper identity collection, and where meaningful safety ends and surveillance begins. Then we pivot to a story that feels ripped from science fiction: a Russian startup turning pigeons into biodrones via neural stimulation. The birds navigate cities with uncanny stealth—no rotors, no glare, just feathers and control signals—raising red flags for bioethics, law enforcement, and civil liberties. We unpack the slippery slope from animal experiments to human augmentation, along with the unsettling possibility that autonomy becomes optional when enhancement is sold as progress.Meanwhile, the hardware reality bites. AI data centers are inhaling global DRAM, driving prices up and forcing even top-tier firms to rethink roadmaps. With a handful of manufacturers controlling production and expansion lagging demand, the industry faces delayed launches, pricier devices, and a renewed interest in repair and refurbishment. We connect the dots to everyday users: why your AI tools feel slower, why memory costs more, and how scarcity triggers hoarding and gray markets. We also break down Microsoft Copilot's eyebrow-raising leap into summarizing sensitive emails and drafts, exploring what went wrong, why “code issue” isn't a satisfying answer, and what robust guardrails should look like. Plus, a wild detour into Japan's “Monster Wolf” bear deterrent, proof that even quirky gadgets can surface deep questions about safety, design, and unintended consequences. Along the way, we keep it grounded with our whiskey tasting and game segment. If you're curious about where tech policy, bioethics, and infrastructure collide—and what it means for your devices, data, and daily life—this one's for you. If it sparks a thought, share it with a friend, subscribe, and leave a review with the one change you'd make to social platforms today.Support the show

He breaks down reports that Cuban forces opened fire on a U.S.-registered speedboat after passengers allegedly shot and wounded a Cuban border officer, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. Brett frames the incident as a potentially serious diplomatic flashpoint, especially as U.S. officials, including Marco Rubio, attempt delicate conversations with Cuban leadership. Beyond the immediate clash, Brett pivots to a broader reflection on American identity. He contrasts what he calls the nation’s historic strengths—enterprise, resilience, liberty, grit, and innovation—with what he views as growing apathy and cultural complacency. Moving alphabetically through core values, he argues that the United States thrives when it embraces boldness and responsibility, not excuses or resentment. For Brett, the Cuba incident underscores a larger theme: America must remain strong, principled, and confident in its foundational ideals. On the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, The Naked Pravda speaks with journalist and author Lucian Kim to ask the questions that still don't have settled answers: Was this war the product of one man's radicalization, or something deeper — an imperial culture that generates aggression with or without orders from the top? Why didn't Putin march on Kyiv in 2014, when Ukraine had no army and most of its citizens didn't yet see Russia as an enemy? And is Putin really the inscrutable black box that analysts make him out to be, or has he been telling us exactly what he intends for decades? Lucian Kim has been covering Russia since Putin's first term in office — more than two decades of on-the-ground reporting, including time in the Kremlin press pool and as NPR's Moscow-based correspondent. He is now a senior Ukraine analyst at the International Crisis Group. His book, Putin's Revenge: Why Russia Invaded Ukraine, published by Columbia University Press, is now available in paperback. Andrew also explains the Cloward-Piven Strategy: a strategy devised by two sociologists in the 1960's which sought to overwhelm our welfare system with an influx of immigrants which would result in a universal basic income being given to the citizens by the government in order to solve the problem. Andrew plays a debate between Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, and famed economists Thomas Sowell, and Milton Friedman discussing their views on the American welfare state. Andrew ends the show by playing a few comedy clips from Canadian comedian Ben Bankas, who recently had his shows cancelled in Minneapolis due to his controversial material. The song selection is the song, "Harsh Truth" by the band One Reason To Rise.Visit allegedlyrecords.com and check out all of the amazing punk rock artists!Visit soundcloud.com/andrewforamerica1984 to check out Andrew's music!Like and Follow The Politics & Punk Rock Podcast PLAYLIST on Spotify!!!Check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1Y4rumioeqvHfaUgRnRxsy...politicsandpunkrockpodcast.comFollow Future Is Now Coalition on Instagram @FutureIsOrgwww.futureis.org

The Go Radio Football Show: 24th of February 2026. PLAY and HIT SUBSCRIBE, and NEVER miss an episode! A weekend where controversy overshadowed quality, tempers flared on and off the pitch, and the title race somehow became even tighter. This episode is a full‑throttle dive into the most controversial refereeing weekend of the season — and the decision to hand John Beaton the whistle for Rangers v Celtic. With VAR dominating headlines, Paul Cooney, Mark Guidi and Darren O'Dea unpack a catalogue of officiating errors, the psychology of referees under scrutiny, and the growing sense that the title race is being shaped as much by the men in the middle as the players on the pitch. The Beaton Appointment Shock Darren O'Dea admits he's “surprised he's been picked” for the derby. Mark Guidi goes harder: Beaton's “off‑form this season” and hasn't earned this fixture. The panel question whether Willie Collum has chosen form — or simply rotation. VAR: From Safety Net to Circus Multiple examples of VAR interventions that still produced the wrong outcome. Mark blasts the “cosiness” between refs and VAR officials — no one wants to overrule a colleague. Darren: the real anger comes from refs having all the angles… and still getting it wrong. The Trusty Red Card & Scales Penalty Debate O'Dea: Trusty's action was “idiotic” but not the kind of thing you want to see red cards for. Guidi: Scales' jersey pull happens at every set piece — not a penalty for him. Celtic's appeal? Dismissed. Three‑match ban stands. Rangers' Stumble at Livingston Danny Röhl praises the “character” to come back from 2–0 down. Fans furious at dropped points against a side winless since August. Caller Paul questions John Souttar's form — and whether he's costing Rangers. Hearts & Motherwell: The Real Title Disruptors Hearts keep grinding out results; Guidi says they're “playing with no pressure.” Motherwell's defensive record is elite — only 18 conceded in 27 games. Caller Hugh claims they could go unbeaten in the final 11 games. Darren doesn't dismiss it. Celtic's Form Crisis O'Dea: Celtic “don't look like Celtic” and will need to scrap their way through the run‑in. Guidi: despite everything, the title is still in Celtic's hands — win out, and they're champions. The Old Firm Showdown Looms Rangers favourites at Ibrox — but neither side convincing. Guidi: Rangers haven't won a meaningful derby in years. O'Dea: the winner on Sunday gets the psychological spark they've both been missing. Sam Webb and Alejandro Zuniga analyze Michigan's 68-63 loss to Duke in Washington, D.C. Michigan struggled with foul trouble, particularly with Aday Mara and Morez Johnson, allowing Duke to secure a 13-rebound advantage. Although Yaxel Lendeborg scored 21 points, Michigan's guards provided limited support. Duke's depth and athleticism in the backcourt proved decisive. This loss underscores the importance of Michigan improving its foul management and rebounding as it prepares for the Big Ten stretch run and potential later NCAA Tournament games. The Clash were once described by their manager as a news organization first, and entertainers second. They were, as their record label put it, “the only band that matters.” They were on the front lines at the dawn of punk rock, but were adventurous enough to quickly branch out into reggae, dub, and hip-hop. They were arrested on suspicion of terrorism in London. Chased out of Jamaica by local drug lords armed to the teeth. Caused a near riot in Times Square when their week-long takeover of a disco was shut down by the city after night one. For Joe Strummer, one of the Clash's two songwriters and the group's political avatar, all this insanity came with the territory when you were disrupting the status quo. But the weight of it all, the importance of the only band that mattered, became too much to bear, and at the height of the band's commercial success…their frontman went missing.
