Halloween was yesterday and I've been doing a lot of thinking. How should Christians react to Halloween and horror films? Is trick-or-treating safe for kids? Cultures around the world for thousands of years have had rites of passage to demonstrate the transition from childhood to adulthood. However, in western and modern Christian cultures, we don't have much in this department. If you think about it, we might be missing something of great value by not having that. The closest we have is baptism, but that seems more like a symbol of spiritual maturity than physical or worldly maturity.
