It behoves us, then, as believers, to be watchful, and to guard the spiritual vitality of our families. Is it taking his family to church every week? Is it being a hard worker and providing well for his wife and children? Is it sending his children to the best schools, ensuring they get the best education, and helping prepare them for their future vocation? What if a man hasn't been doing these things? What if a man, as a husband and father, has been living his life, just going through the motions, and hasn't really been an exemplary father? What if he realizes this now and truly desires to be a godly father as he moves forward; how can he do that? What can he do? Join us this week on the Straight Truth Podcast as Dr. Josh Philpot asks Dr. Richard Caldwell what advice he would give to a man who wants to be a godly father and if he would share some guiding principles from the Scriptures to assist him in this endeavor.Dr. Caldwell says the most important issue for being a good father is to be a believing father. The most important legacy a man will ever leave his children is for them to have a father who really believes in Christ, really believes the Bible, and strives to live his life consistently in submission to that truth. Dr. Caldwell often tells young people he's counseling for marriage that the most important thing they can do for their marriage is to live the Christian life at home. That is the exact same advice he would give a man who wants to be a good and godly father. No matter what mom or anyone else around you is doing, if you want to be a godly father, you have to be applying the Scriptures in your own life, living them out in your thinking, attitudes, words, and choices. The next step in being a good dad, says Dr. Caldwell, is with your spouse. You want to love their mom, and you want to love her well. This requires you to love her as Christ loves the church. Honor your wife and let your children know how blessed you are. Let them know how thankful you are to God for what He has given you and them in the gift ...
Dr. Richard Caldwell emphasizes that to be a good father, one must first be a believing father. This episode of the Straight Truth Podcast explores the importance of living a life committed to Christ, loving your wife as Christ loves the church, and being present with your children. Caldwell provides biblical principles for fatherhood, including leading with love, managing the home with dignity, and prioritizing the spiritual well-being of your family.

Welcome to today's sermon podcast! Join us as we delve into the timeless story of Noah, found in Genesis 6, and discover powerful lessons on how to live righteously in an increasingly wicked world. Our pastor reflects on the Apostle Paul's prayer in Ephesians 6:19, seeking divine words to fearlessly proclaim the mystery of the gospel. In this special Father's Day sermon, we explore the importance of godly fathers and their role in standing against cultural decay. We are reminded of Noah's unwavering faith and obedience to God amidst a corrupt and violent world, and how his example can inspire us today. This message is not just for fathers, but for all who seek to understand and live out God's plan for their lives. Through engaging anecdotes and scriptural insights, we are encouraged to seek God's grace, pursue righteousness and faithfulness, and walk with God daily. As we reflect on Noah's story, we are called to be people of grace who impact our families and communities with the light and love of Christ. May this sermon come alive to you and aid in your understanding of God's plan for your life. Tune in and be inspired to stand strong in your faith, just as Noah did. With Pastor Mike Curry “A Godly Father in an Evil Age” Genesis 6:5-14, 22 Introduction – Godly fathers needed! A godly father finds grace in the eyes of the LORD. “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” - Genesis 6:8 A godly father pursues righteousness and faithfulness. “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.” - Genesis 6:9 III. A godly father obeys God. “Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” - Genesis 6:22 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” - Hebrews 11:6-7 Action Points: Seek God's grace. Model godliness. Walk with God.

Godly fathers are marked by concern for their children's wellbeing, and especially their spiritual condition. This week's first selection offers a number of compelling examples of this concern in faithful men of the past, from Jonathan Edwards to Charles Spurgeon. The second selection, from Martyn Lloyd-Jones's 'Raising Children God's Way', takes us to the practical and vital topic of how we may best serve the spiritual needs of our children. TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com WellBuiltBody.com Wake the faith up https://www.watermark.org/blog/5-characteristics-godly-dad My grandson just came back from his first ever kids bible camp… When arriving home on the bus with a smile on his face he announced to his dad, I heard God speak to me… he hears my prayers and he is proud of me. Five things a father does for his kids… #1 A Godly Father protects… #2 A godly father whoops his kids… #3 A Godly father provides… #4 A Godly Father loves #5 A Godly Father prays What is one thing you catch yourself doing that you now look back on and do… and think, wow I am just like me dad… Didn't really care what he was wearing when mowing the lawn, working out, wore the cheap K mart sneakers… A Godly father doesn't just pray, but he reads his bible, he quotes his bible, he prays with his family with his wife. He prays with his kids individually. Now I am going to say something that some people disagree with… some would say don't just pray and read your bible so you kids can see you… Now I get the sentiment… but I also think you should read and pray so your kids do see you. Look, if its just for show and it does not influence your behavior… your kids will know you are a phony… but if you truly do read, pray and obey - then be all means do it in such a way that your kids will catch you doing it. I grew up hearing my dad praying and speaking in tongues in the basement… it was such a feeling of security to know my Dad prayed, he worshiped and he lived it. I am glad I have those memories now of him living it out. And I do he same. I have my first quiet time in the mornings at 4:30 am… many mornings my grandkids will come down close to the end of my time… they will catch me reading, praying, listening to worship music… they will also catch me setting up my table at night for my quiet time. I usually put out my journal, my bible, my book, my speaker and my coffee cup so that I can just wake up walk into the kitchen and roll. It is just so they can see me doing it OR is it really a time of connection for me with Jesus… the answer is yes. So you might ask if i pray and if read my bible what would be the best version… or translation. Well my Dad put out his own translation… it was awesome. it was called the Warren Heckman Translation of the Bible… it came with legs, arms, a mouth, eyes…. yep it was my Dad. His example of his walk with God was the best translation ever. So I stress again let your kids see you reading praying and obeying… but mostly let them see it transform your life. To be fair there were many times I would come home and see my mom on the front porch steps reading her bible. And because of that when she would say I don't think this is right or that is right… and later on I would see that she was spot on…. many times saving my life and even saving me heartache and money… I knew by that example I wanted to learn how to read and pray and obey and hear Gods voice. So what should a father do? Let me state it this way… he should do whatever it takes to raise Godly kids starting with his own quiet time, his own example.
TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com WellBuiltBody.com Wake the faith up https://www.watermark.org/blog/5-characteristics-godly-dad Five things a father does for his kids… #1 A Godly Father protects… #2 A godly father whoops his kids… #3 A Godly father provides… #4 A Godly Father loves If you don't actively love your children—or don't make it clear that you love them—then they won't want to listen when you try to teach them. “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1) I believe 99% of most fathers are trying to some degree… they want to be a good Dad, they want to provide for their kids, they want to be kind, gentle, patient…They want to appear smart in front of their kids… and all of this you have little to no control over…. but what you do have??? What you do have trumps all of that… Imagine your kids 15-20 years from now talking about you as a father to their friends or co-workers… and it goes like this… Yea, my Dad was a simple man, we didn't grow up with a lot… he didn't have a very good job and it was about all he could get with his limited education. He wasn't known for anything exceptional… he was average. But one thing he did do for me… He made sure I knew how much he loved me. Hugs, verbal affection, sacrifice… there was never a night he was home that he didn't tell me he loved me and gave me a hug before bed. I call that a winner. I call that a great and Godly Dad. Did you know that a father who is not there is creating a vacuum for his daughter, and a Hole for his son. If you don't love your kids how will they know how to love their kids… seems pretty simple yet many of us miss it. I was walking out of a church on a Sunday… a little boy heard the pastor told the men of the church to tell their families they loved them…. Yea and so does a pimp… but we both know he doesn't love them. Your kids only know if you tell them. Three ways you must love your kids Time - Time is the foundation for great communication, for connection and trust. I always tell parents that great communication is like catching a shooting star in the sky flying by. You don't just schedule 20 minutes tonight between 11:20 and 11:40 NO NO NO if you want to catch a shooting star racing across the sky with it's tail on fire.. you gotta just plan on sitting out there every night for hours… you never know when it will happen, but it takes time! It takes time to build great and loving communication with your kids - and your wife BTW. But time screams at the top of its lungs… I LOVE YOU. 2ndly you must tell them Verbally and in written form. I still have cards from my father and mother from being in high school with the words they wrote to me about their love for me. I have heard stories of men who still have that one card where there dad said I love you… it gives a physical manifestation of what boys hearts want to hear. Physical love and affection… I could go on and on about how important this is to a child… for instance a father who lives in the same house as his daughter and gives physical affection delays her puberty up to 18 months… that is 1 and a half years extra to help her grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually before her body is expected to act like a woman… along with the expectations of the world. If you physically touch your kids and tell them you love them you create bursts of new brain cells, dendrites, synapses…. it builds their immune system, it creates an impenetrable self esteem and confidence…
TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com WellBuiltBody.com Wake the faith up https://www.watermark.org/blog/5-characteristics-godly-dad Five things a father does for his kids… #1 A Godly Father protects… #2 A godly father whoops his kids… #3 A Godly father provides… he pays the bills - its all about the benjamins and the roberts and the Lauras and the shelleys, madisons, in my house the Reeses and the Ryans and the grandkids… 1 Tim. 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Provide… not just pay the bills and work hard, but think ahead of what is coming, to prepare and be ready. Now let me state the following up front. Our kids today are spoiled rotten. pihones, iPads, ipods, i wants and i needs… sports equipment, travel, clothes, hobbies, movies, cable, internet, apps agendas and so much more… and lets not forget food, eating out, uber, School supplies… it is never ending, but our kids live in abundance… I do not care who you are - if they are living in the ghetto they still have more than most kids around the world. So when it says you must provide I am talking about working in such a way that you are paying their basics… food, clothes, healthcare needs and maybe just a few extras… if you can do more than that - great… and maybe not great. Because you also need to provide for them the opportunity for them to work if they want something. Provide for them an allowance to fill full tasks around the house and get paid for it. Provide for them responsibilities that give them ownership. So yes, provide for their basic staples, provide for some basic wants… BUT ALSO provide for them ways to start to learn how to work. NEXT provide for them examples of you working and sacrificing and trying to better yourself. Do you provide an example of reading, bettering yourself, working a second job, Do you provide an example of a husband that takes care of his wife. Do you provide an example of how to save and how to spend. A few years ago my wife texted me and said we are out of money, She reminded me we don't get paid for a few more days and my son needed some money in an emergency. We were texting… I said go upstairs to my room, get this bible off the shelf and look inside and take what you need. She texted back a few minutes later… where did you get all this money?? I thought we were broke? I said we are broke… but that is my emergency money for times like this. She texted me back about an hour later… thank you for being so wise to save money for times like this, I won't ever take any without asking and your son was amazed we had it to give… you are a good dad and a good provider. NOW THE FACT IS AT THAT TIME I WAS WORKING 3 JOBS… THIS WAS JUST 4 YEARS AGO… I DID NOT FEEL LIKE A GOOD DAD OR A GOOD PROVIDER… Why? only because I was looking at the worlds example of what a wealthy father could afford his kids… and not what God calls us to do. Yes there are many lazy deadbeat, lousy Dads out there… but there are also many that are beating themselves up because they don't have an extra $1200 for their son to sign up for hockey… I get it. That is why you are called to provide more than just money… provide care, love, opportunities and more as God directs you.

Fathers/fatherhood is God's design. It is absolutely essential in the development of the next generation as well as establishing a life giving culture and society. This message will focus on what happens when we are not fathered by God and godly fathers vs. how the Godly Father fathers even to delinquint and disobedient children. What we will discover is that we all have Daddy issues, and that's why we give thanks to God for the Gospel, because God the Father has adopted us and called us His own - that as He Fathers us - we might in turn as Fathers - father in godliness.
