Shoulder-to-Shoulder is a community of partners working together to inspire and support ethical leadership. In the series, we will be sharing inspirational stories from the people that make up this community.
In this episode we get the privilege to speak with Maggie Chang and Nicole Alleyne, who are both Shoulder-to-Shoulder graduates from the Ashville School. Maggie and Nicole attended courses in Nicaragua and Kenya, experiences which deeply influenced their lives. They discuss the transformative nature of their experiences and how it led them to the creation of Camp Good Trouble, which serves underprivileged youth in the Ashville area. They are the perfect example of the reason we do what we do here at Shoulder-to-Shoulder. And we continue to be inspired by these two amazing humans!
Christiana Beveridge is a Shoulder-to-Shoulder alumna and she currently serves as a member of the Executive Board. Christiana serves as a resident physician, a career which she says was inspired by her experiences with Shoulder-to-Shoulder. She first participated in a course in India, attempting to tackle the problem of of diarrheal disease in in children. And she later led courses in Kenya and Bolivia. Christiana is someone who cares deeply about making the world a better place and is passionate about helping others. She is truly an inspiration!
In this episode of the podcast, we get the chance to speak with Mark Wilhelm, who was instrumental in the founding of Shoulder-to-Shoulder as we it know today. Mark is the father of three children who have all participated in the courses. Mark himself attended an early course in New Orleans and was so inspired by the experience that he pushed Bob Bandoni to grow the organization beyond Vail Mountain School, which inspired the program that exists today. Mark brings a vision and enthusiasm to the Shoulder-to-Shoulder family and continues to inspire everyone.
In this episode we are joined by Lauren Morehead, who is a Shoulder-to-Shoulder program alum and current Board Member. As a student, Lauren participated in courses in both New Orleans and Nepal. In this episode of the podcast, she shares her life changing experience and what motivated her to give back to the Shoulder-to-Shoulder community. Today Lauren is a Senior Manager at Gartner and she credits the lessons she gained from her experiences with Shoulder-to-Shoulder as providing fertile ground for her personal growth.Thanks for joining us today Lauren!
