In Episode 5, I had the opportunity to meet and interview Dr. Sandra Torres. She is fighting ovarian cancer as a chingona. She shares her story as a woman, woman of color, mother, partner, sister, daughter, and doctor. In Episode 2, I had the opportunity to interview Maria Salazar, my mother. She was born in Mexico City and raised in Campbell, California. She is 1 of 7 kids and is the second youngest. She has constantly encouraged my brother and I to do well, go to college, and become successful. She sacrificed so much to provide my brother and I the opportunities to learn and grow. There is always a light at the end of a tunnel!
Episode 1 reviews the history of my Abuelita Natalia. She was born on December 1, 1933, and is the mother of 7 children. She immigrated to the United States in 1967 to provide her children with the educational opportunities that the US provided. Natalia received her high school diploma after attending 18 years of US high school. She shared her challenges, lessons learned and provided advice for the next generation.
