Jesse Lee, also known as Boss Lee or The People's Mentor, advocates for authentic business building in a social media-driven world. She emphasizes the importance of committing to a chosen business strategy for at least six months before expecting results. Lee shares her personal journey, highlighting her decision to build her multi-million dollar business exclusively online despite initial resistance from a previous company that favored in-person methods. She argues that online engagement can be just as "high-touch" as traditional methods, allowing for deep connections and personalized understanding of clients. Ultimately, Lee encourages listeners to discover and embrace their own natural, effective business processes rather than conforming to others' expectations. Hosted on Acast. https://www.progressiveproperty.co.uk/raf/ Kevin joins Sean to talk about how to recognise mentor red flags and prevent yourself from being taught by the wrong person. He shares the easiest ways to spot a bad trainer or mentor and the ways you can protect yourself. KEY TAKEAWAYS ·     In every industry there is good and bad and property is no exception. ·      One of the biggest red flags is if someone is teaching you and then telling you the property to buy. ·      If a property investor is good, they won't need to borrow money from students to invest. ·      People think there is easy money in property training but they often don't calculate overheads so anyone who has been training for a long time is usually a green flag. ·      Do your due diligence on any mentor or trainer, companies house is a really easy way to check people out. ·      If trainers aren't willing to show you what they are doing then question it. They should also be full of passion for what they are doing.   BEST MOMENTS  “Are most property trainers full of shit?” “I would avoid anybody who is telling you what you should buy and then offering the same thing to you” “If you say something, back it up with truth” “Do not give me your opinion, show me what you're doing”   VALUABLE RESOURCES MSOPI – Multiple Streams of Income: https://www.progressiveproperty.co.uk https://kevinmcdonnell.co.uk ABOUT THE HOST Sean Fitzpatrick is a property investor, educator, and the Face of Progressive Property. With a 6-figure portfolio and expertise in creative strategies, finance, and off-market deals, Sean shares success stories from the Progressive Property community, expert insights, and real-world strategies to help investors succeed. In today's snack, Erin's busting the myth that a mentor is just going to magically appear and fix everything. The Problem: We've all heard it—“You need a mentor!” But asking for one feels like proposing after two dates. We freeze, wait, and convince ourselves no one has time for us. The Improv Hack to Try: The Spotlight Flip Instead of waiting for someone to spotlight you, flip the light on THEM. Next time you meet someone you admire, ask: "I love how you [specific thing]. If you were giving a TED Talk to your younger self, what would it be about?" No pressure, just pure curiosity. Why it works: In improv, making others look good builds trust. Spotlighting someone makes them more likely to engage with you, so mentorship might follow naturally. Bonus Tip: Mentorship isn't always formal. Keep a list of “unofficial mentors” to learn from passively. Wednesday Tease: Catch Episode 298 this Wednesday: Stop Waiting for a Mentor to Magically Appear—Start Here Instead. Don't miss it! Making Meaning, Not Making Sense - A Conversation with Sam Crosby

In the business of education someone telling you that something doesn't make sense is usually the moment to step in and explain, support and resolve the confusion. Helping young people make sense of the world Is our job isn't it? But what if making sense sometimes gets in the way of making meaning?! What is our job as educators in creating opportunities for young people to cultivate meaning in their lives, however that might happen for them? I absolutely loved this comversation with Sam Crosby this week, as we explored his work around the role of ancient myth, story and elders in responding collectively to the times we're in, that many see as a crisis of meaning. There are so many ways that Sam describes the work he does in the world, so here are a few:– Motivational speaker: Three words have followed him through his journey as a speaker: peace, wisdom and courage. Sam helps people to realise they have everything they need inside them. All it takes is clarity.– Workshop host: After accessing ancient myth (particularly for the first time), there is a rare moment of connection with colleagues, friends, community, and Sam takes heart in holding spaces which have been described as ‘safe enough to share what was really going on for me'.– One-on-one guide: The main body of Sam's work is in groups, but he has always maintained a one-on-one connection with a handful of people. These opportunities to go deeper are always matched by those willing to ‘go there'.– Traditional oral storyteller: founder of Recalling Fire: the organisation bringing the oral tradition back to the modern west. Sam has facilitated immersive weekend-long events, hosted storytelling evenings and been guest speaker on stages and at rallies.– A ‘cryer': a once guarded and proud man, Sam is now open and willing to model the vulnerability he accessed in coming to terms with the birth of his son with a profound brain disorder.– Well-versed in organisational environments: Sam has worked for over 10 years as a marketing and communications expert, representing agencies around the world before opening my own consultancy.– Sure-foot: He is a wild camper and a trainee mountain leader. He habitually practices ‘nature solos' as guided by The Bio-Leadership Project, spending 24 hours alone in a wild spot without food, book, phone or anything else to ‘do' as he focuses his energy on purely ‘being'.– Group guide: Sam has developed and facilitated events to bring the people of organisations and groups closer together, including conservationists with The Wildlife Trusts, activists with Right to Roam and social prescribers with Newquay Orchard.– Mentor, A Band of Brothers: the charity mentoring young men at risk of the justice system.– Fellow: The Bio-Leadership Fellowship.– Alumni: Dartington College of Arts, Dr Martin Shaw's The Westcountry School of Myth and Advaya's Rewilding Mythology– TEDx SpeakerSam also has a fantastic podcast called Drop the Map (https://open.spotify.com/show/6U3NnuKxk1zG4BYdMcahZa), and you can find out more about him at https://www.samuelcrosby.com/ and https://www.recallingfire.com. GOOD TROUBLE—Troublemakers is a magazine about society's misfits. At least from the Japanese point of view. A bilingual, English/Japanese magazine, Troublemakers came about as a way to showcase people who were different, who stayed true to themselves, or about the long road those people had taken to self-acceptance.The founders, editor Yuto Miyamoto and art director Manami Inoue, were inspired by a notion that Japanese culture perhaps did not value those who strayed too far from the herd. The magazine has been a success not just in Japan but globally, and perhaps mirrors a trend we see in streaming, for example, of a general public acceptance of universal stories from different places—gengo nanté kinishee ni. Think, especially, of the success of Japanese television and movies like Shogun or Tokyo Vice or Godzilla Minus One. Of Japanese Pop and anime and food. It's an endless list. But Troublemakers is more than just a cultural document. It is proof of something shared, a commonality of human experience that exists everywhere. Speaking to Yuto and Manami, you sense a desire—and an invitation—to connect. With everyone. And that's, ultimately, what Troublemakers tries to do.—This episode is made possible by our friends at Freeport Press. A production of Magazeum LLC ©2021–2025
