Today, we're unpacking the progressive shift at Baylor University, a prominent Baptist institution in Waco, Texas, and its recent acceptance of an almost $700,000 grant from the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation. We explore how this funding, aimed at fostering "LGBTQ inclusion" in churches, signals a broader leftward drift at Baylor, despite its historical ties to Baptist values. We'll dive into the grant's purpose and its implications for biblical fidelity, and the university's embrace of progressive ideologies like standpoint epistemology and DEI initiatives. We'll also examine Baylor's ties to the Baptist General Convention of Texas, its evolving policies on sexuality, and the broader cultural and spiritual battle over institutional capture. Have you ever told yourself you're "fine" when deep down you felt like you were disappearing? Like your life force was gone and you were just going through the motions? This conversation is for you. In this episode, I talk with bestselling author, speaker, and teacher, Jen Pastiloff. She is also the author of the brand new book, Proof of Life, which is about owning your worthiness and giving yourself permission to live.Today, we dive into the messy, beautiful process of waking up to your truth, reclaiming your voice, and finally choosing a life that feels fully yours. From divorce, to sobriety, to rediscovering her creativity, Jen shares the real story behind what it takes to stop pretending and start truly living. From our chat, you'll learn:-How to recognize when you're stuck in survival mode-What your body might be telling you when you're abandoning yourself-The powerful connection between shame, people-pleasing, and self-worth-How to stop waiting for permission and take up space and live-Ways to use creativity as a tool for healing and reconnectionIf you've been numbing, hiding, or quietly shrinking to fit a life that doesn't fit you, this episode is your permission to begin again.Jennifer Pastiloff trots the globe as a public speaker and to host her retreats to Italy, as well as her one-of-a-kind workshops, which she has taught to thousands of people all over the world. The author of the popular Substack, also called Proof of Life, she teaches writing and creativity classes called Allow, and workshops called Shame Loss, when she isn't painting and selling her art. She has been featured on Good Morning America, and Katie Couric, and in New York magazine, People, Shape, Health magazine, and other media outlets for her authenticity and unique voice. She is deaf, reads lips, and mishears almost everything, but what she hears is usually funnier (at least she thinks so). Hi Parents! Have you ever noticed how the most critical voice in your life might be your own? That internal dialogue that questions every parenting decision, especially when your teen is struggling with anxiety can be exhausting. In today's episode, I'm joined by Sue Erhart, author of Lose Your Critic for Good for a powerful conversation on what it really takes to quiet that inner voice and reconnect with your calm, confident center. Sue shares her deeply personal journey from a high-powered corporate career to becoming a guide for others seeking peace and purpose. We explore how perfectionism and pressure create disconnection, why conventional self-help tools often miss the mark, and how small shifts in awareness can lead to lasting change, without needing to burn everything down and start over. More about Sue: Sue Erhart spent decades as a corporate executive and attorney, operating in high-stakes environments where success was measured by external achievements. But behind the scenes, she was grappling with a harsh inner critic that left her feeling stuck, depleted, and out of alignment. After a personal transformation, Sue created a platform that blends grounded wisdom with spiritual insight to help others reclaim their power and inner clarity. Her book offers a step-by-step method to break free from the grip of self-judgment and step into a more aligned, fulfilling way of living. Now, she's on a mission to help others, especially those who've spent years doing things “the hard way” - find a more compassionate path to joy, confidence, and inner freedom. If you're ready to let go of the mental noise and start parenting - and living - from a place of truth and trust, you won't want to miss this episode. I'm joined by the brilliant Shan, a certified sexologist and relationship expert, and together we get real about confidence, self-discovery, and what it actually takes to build a life—and love—that feels authentic and fulfilling. We dive into the behind-the-scenes of my BET Awards look, but more importantly, how that moment represented a shift from “faking it till you make it” to truly feeling bold, beautiful, and confident from the inside out. Shan and I talk about the importance of knowing what you want in a partner, why your “romantic wish list” should be short and intentional, and how being honest with yourself (and others) is the foundation for real connection. I open up about my own journey—how I've sometimes focused on what's missing in my love life instead of embracing the abundance that's already here, and how I'm learning to ask for what I need, set boundaries, and trust that what's meant for me is already on its way.We also get into the nitty-gritty of healing from toxic relationships, rebuilding confidence, and the power of surrounding yourself with people who see and celebrate the real you. Shan shares her own story of moving on from a manipulative relationship, finding love again, and why loving yourself—and being honest about your needs—is the ultimate act of self-care.
