Red Hat Open Source and Standards
At the OpenStack developer summit, each project discusses their plans for the oming release cycle. In Atlanta, Ceilometer met to decide what they'd be working on, and, in this recording, Eoghan Glynn gives us the highlights of that and discusses the progress so far toward the Juno release.
Rich Bowen talks to several upstream OpenStack contributors at OpenStack Summit, recently held in Atlanta, GA.
A great conversation with Patrick McGarry of Red Hat. McGarry gives a quick intro to Ceph and what it is, talks about Ceph joining Red Hat, and talks about the open source release of the Ceph management console (Calamari). He also gives the skinny on upcoming Ceph events, and a bit about his history in open source before joining Red Hat.
At Red Hat Summit 2014, Joe Brockmeier caught up with Langdon White, Developer Evangelist for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Langdon talks about SoftwareCollections.org, which was created to give the community a way to participate around the upstream of the Red Hat Enterprise tool chain. In this interview, Langdon discusses what software collections are and when you'd want to use them. If you'd like to keep up with the Upstream podcast, keep up with @redhatopen on Twitter.
In this episode, Joe Brockmeier interviews Apache's Marvin Humphrey at ApacheCon North America. Marvin discusses his ApacheCon talk on releasing software, the Lucy project, and the Apache Incubator Project.
Another exciting episode of Upstream, piping hot from Red Hat Summit. Joe Brockmeier tracks down Colin Walters to discuss the newly launched Project Atomic. Walters talks about rpm-ostree, the atomic update model, Project Atomic, and re-thinking the update model for applications and the operating system.
Joe Brockmeier talks to the Apache Software Foundation's VP of Brand Management, Shane Curcuru at ApacheCon Denver. Shane discusses the importance of project brand and trademarks, what projects and developers should know about their brands, and his work with the ASF.

One of the best things about working on the Open Source and Standards (OSAS) team here at Red Hat is the sheer number of interesting people in open source that we get to work with and talk to every day. It seems a shame not to share some of those conversations with the rest of the community, so we've started Upstream, a podcast that features interviews and conversations with the people who're moving open source forward. For the first episode, I sat down with Leslie Hawthorn at the Twelfth Annual Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE 12x), to talk about her Sunday morning keynote “Why Checking Your Privilege is Good For You”. Please give it a listen, and let us know what you think. Have suggestions for future guests? Drop us a note in the comments. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we're enjoying putting these together.
Here's the long-awaited second installment of the Upscale podcast. Long-awaited in no small part because it's taken a little longer than it should to do the editing and put it online! But it's well worth the wait, we promise. In this episode I talk to Bradley Kuhn of the Software Freedom Conservancy(SFC). Kuhn and I sat down for a few minutes at the 12th annual Southern California Linux Expo(SCALE 12x), and had quite a good conversation about what the SFC is doing these days, the push for a free software accounting system that can be used by non-profits, and much more. If you'd like to keep up with the Upstream podcast, keep an eye on this blog, or our Twitter feed and Facebook page. In the next few weeks we'll be bringing you interviews with folks from our CentOS Dojos in Santa Clara and Denver, ApacheCon, and Red Hat Summit.
