My guest this week is Chris Estey. Chris and I share a connection to a very specific music scene that Seattle was a center of in the latter half of the 90’s. I was so, so excited to have this conversation with him. It did not disappoint. Many bands will be referenced here plus lots of talk about politics, religion, and the musical traditions of Seattle. Chris has had connections to Light in the Attic, Tooth & Nail Records, Bandoppler Magazine, and many more music-associated works. He is currently with XO Publicity and working on a book that I am very excited about.
Today On the podcast we talk to Chris Estey of Big Freak Media. Chris tells us all about his career in the music industry, the Temple of Dead Media, and what got him started as a publicists. We also talked about the difference between a label and a publicists, writing for Three Imaginary Girls, and so much more. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Join me from "The Temple Of Dead Media" with my guest Chris Estey of Big Freak Media. Chris is a writer, poet, publicist and genius (in my opinion) who is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on music, pop culture, fanzines, movies, comics, literature, history and more. Estey is also a long time friend who made critical contributions to the 90's Seattle underground music scene including my former band, Blenderhead. Good luck keeping up!
