This past Saturday, May 24th, WWE ran another one of their "Saturday Night's Main Event" specials. Lemme tell ya, these things are what they are, a glorified house show with some cameras, but hey, sometimes you get a nugget. The actual main event of the broadcast, the tippy-top of the show, was Jey Uso defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul. Yeah, that Logan Paul. Mr. Social Media himself, still collecting belts and cashing checks in our beloved squared circle. Now, from what I'm seein', Jey Uso actually retained the title. So, "Main Event" Jey still got the gold around his waist, Uce. Logan Paul, well, he's probably already posted a video about how he was robbed or how he's the real champion of the internet or some garbage like that. Kid's got a knack for makin' noise, I'll give him that, even if it makes your ears bleed. The show also had other stuff, like Cena rasslin' R-Truth, which, okay, whatever that was. And a tag match with Punk and Zayn against Rollins and Bron Breakker where it looks like Bronson Reed showed up to cause a ruckus and align with Rollins and his crew. So, they're buildin' somethin' there, probably another faction nobody asked for, but hey, it's "content," right? But yeah, your main event, the one that closed the show, was Jey Uso keepin' that World Heavyweight strap away from Logan Paul. Make of that what you will, brother. It's wrestling in 2025.(synopsis supplied by Soupbot) Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wrestling-soup--1425249/support.
Label: Coral 62558Year: 1969Condition: MPrice: $60.00This is a beautiful Mint copy of a single released in 1969 to commemorate Buddy Holly's untimely 1959 death, along with its striking picture sleeve. I had first heard this lovely version many years ago on a U.K.-released double album set Buddy Holly: Legend. The liner notes to that album describe the track as follows: "Love Is Strange" was one of Buddy's favorite songs. The version he recorded was around a minute long and the track included here has been "stretched" by splicing and re-recording the original tape. Norman Petty's later treatment of the recording, adding organ sounds to create the impression of strings, probably comes fairly close to Buddy's own ideas for the song. As for the B side, this rarity was cowritten with Waylon Jennings and not released until well after Holly's death. Among other places, it appeared on the B side of U.K. single in 1964. Upon hearing it, I knew I'd heard it before and after wracking my brain for awhile, I remembered that it was a version by the neo-Rockabilly singer/songwriter Billy Swan released in 1976 that was in my head. Other than that, I haven't heard any other versions, though it's indubitably hit material! Note: The 45 itself has Mint labels. The vinyl looks untouched, and the audio sounds pristine. The great picture sleeve is nearly flawless!

In which we declare “McCullered” a verb and Patti references songs from both 1862 and 1985. The merry, merry month of May gives us records set by both Pete Crow-Armstrong and Jasson Dominguez. COL and Pottymouth welcome the return of Ezequiel Tovar, and there's just so much Soto to discuss. Liam Hendriks says the kind of death threats experienced by Lance McCullers are horrifyingly common and absolutely fed by sports betting. Underage drinking is now a part of the incident resulting in serious injuries to a fan falling from the stands in PNC park. COL may have set a record for losses in 50 games and have a fan suing them for being bad, but at least their security staff is trying to keep opposing players out of the ballpark. Previously McCullered Tim McGraw is headlining the Speedway Classic featuring CIN vs ATL in August. We crosstrain with ice dancing and encourage you to read this piece about gender “complexities” in that sport. We may reference a little light, harmless voter fraud. We say, “Punk bands aren't afraid of anything,” “It's like a homerun derby, but there's a lot of defense,” and “We ain't gonna play Sun City.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. When Nadya Tolokonnikova saw her country Russia change under President Vladimir Putin’s authoritarian regime, she knew she had to do something. She started the iconic ski-mask-wearing art protest collective Pussy Riot. On February 21st, 2012, they performed their anti-Putin protest song, Punk Prayer, in a Moscow church, launching Nadya into overnight activist fame… and a prison labour camp. Dylan Jones – writer, former editor of i-D, Arena and GQ - was 15 in 1975 and dressed like Henry McCullough of Wings (“a lot of denim and silk scarves”), a time he thinks had enormous influence on the following five decades. There are many highlights in his latest book ‘1975: The Year The World Forgot', a lot of them discussed here with David and Mark, including … … the lasting impact of the cover of Patti Smith's Horses. … the “frightening” Millie Jackson, 50 years ahead of her time. … why Blood On The Tracks was the first middle-aged rock album. … the information black-out and the value of the ‘70s rock press - particularly Street Life – for such experimental music. … how the sarcasm of Steely Dan still feels contemporary – “Donald Trump is a figure they could have made up 50 years ago”. … the three key rhythms of the ‘70s – Fela Kuti's afro-beat, James Brown's funk and Klaus Dinger's Neu!-beat. … the reason Donna Summer's Love To Love You Baby is 17 minutes long. … how Brian Eno's accident led to the birth of ambient music. … “writing about pop music allows you to write about anything”. … how the sophistication and intellect of the mid-‘70s was pilloried in Punk's Year Zero. … the Quiet Storm genre - aka “foreplay music” – from Sade to Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye. ... the unrecognised power of the female record-buyer and the sexism of the rock press. … and the greatest record of 1975! In this episode of the Survival Punk Podcast, we're going back to basics — and that's a good thing. Whether you're building your first bug-out bag or refining your tenth, the 10 Cs of survival are your foundation. Made popular by survival expert Dave Canterbury, the 10 Cs are ten categories of gear that cover everything you truly need — without the fluff or fantasy.
In this episode of the Survival Punk Podcast, we take a hard look at a grim but realistic scenario: surviving on just 1,000 calories a day. Whether it's a food shortage, a botched resupply, or you're deep into bug-out territory, knowing how to stretch calories and keep going isn't just useful — it could save your life.
In this episode of the Survival Punk Podcast, we're tackling a realistic but often overlooked scenario — what if the world falls apart while you're at work? Most people spend 8+ hours a day away from home. If something goes down — power grid failure, civil unrest, major natural disaster — you might be miles from your gear, your family, and your safety plan.

This week on What a Great Punk, we're joined by writer and comedian Izzy Beach to chat about her $1,000 designer Birkenstocks that were "half price," the traumatic memory of filming with food poisoning while wearing a fake pregnant belly, and her narrowly-avoided Good Charlotte tramp stamp that might have been her ticket to fashion influencer fame. Plus: being masochists who enjoy the hollow feeling after saying something vulgar, discovering the humiliation of dry cleaners who can't actually clean anything, and Todd's controversial defense of wearing the same Metallica cut-off singlet to Greece every year. At first glance, the latest installment of the cover song series is no different than any previous episode. Behind the scenes, though, serendipity is at play here. Like usual, I had quitely filled my “covers” folder over the last few months. A few weeks ago, I had accumulated enough tracks to schedule the show. I could have done it at the end of April, or last week. Next week even. Or I could have held it over until June. But no, I was determed in do on May 23. Then on my usual record store run last Friday I found a number of great Minneapolis garage rock records from the 50s and 60s. Most were compilatons, but I also found a Sundazed Music reissue of The Gestures' self-titled album from 1966. Hailing from Mankato, MN, they had a hit in 1964 with “Run, Run, Run”, their debut single. I picked up this reissue, and loved it! Fast forward to yesterday as I was looking at the various new releases for the week. I was excited to see that Beebe Gallini had a new record out called Begged, Borrowed and Stealed! Even better was the fact that not only is this a […]

I sure hope this one doesn't ruffle too many feathers. It's an honest and mostly appreciative, thoughtful appraisal of a highly regarded album that has aged remarkably well. Ken Smallwood is in the co-pilot seat this time and really brings his "A" game to the endeavor. Listen in as two very old friends talk well into the night about this recording.

Blake is joined once again by Nick Diener—founder of Oneder Effects and guitarist/vocalist for The Swellers—for a wide-ranging chat that hits everything from vintage SGs and Freebird lore to dad life, Discord burnout, and the existential dread of messy workspaces. Nick shares stories of playing Gary Rossington's actual guitars, visiting Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, building pedals in cluttered chaos, and trying to stay creative in a post-pandemic industry hit hard by tariffs and uncertainty. They also dive into martial arts, musician mental health, content fatigue, the pros and cons of podcast video, and why dog-related GoFundMes might just bankrupt us all. Whether you're here for the gear, the laughs, or some philosophical dad-core, this episode's got a little something for everybody—especially disorganized pedal nerds with too many unfinished projects.
