Hasta hace unas semanas en la ciudad vivían unas 800.000 personas de las que se estima que ya han salido ya unas 200.000 hacia el sur. En su interior la inteligencia israelí calcula que se han quedado entre 2.000 y 3.000 milicianos de Hamas para realizar emboscadas a las tropas israelíes, pero la organización tiene muchos más, unos 15.000, por lo que la mayor parte han huido y se encuentran en otras partes de Gaza. La mayor parte de la población civil se resiste abandonar la ciudad pese a las condiciones precarias en las que sobreviven. Esta ofensiva, de cualquier modo, recuerda mucho a la de octubre de 2023, cuando el ejército israelí quiso capturar la ciudad, pero no lo consiguió totalmente. El jefe del ejército, Eyal Zamir, también quiere un alto el fuego. Ha advertido al Gobierno que eliminar a Hamás podría llevar años y ponen además en riesgo la vida de los rehenes. Pero Netanyahu, presionado por sus socios de derecha religiosa que quieren anexionar Gaza a Israel, no quiere saber nada de armisticios. La presión internacional también es más dura que nunca. La Unión Europea le ha amenazado con revisar los acuerdos comerciales, y países como Francia y el Reino Unido podrían reconocer a Palestina en un futuro próximo. Welcome to the first week of the Gospel Spice Podcast's series, "Identity in the Battle," where we embark on a journey through the book of Ephesians. In this lesson, we'll dive into the heart of Ephesians chapter 1, focusing on what it means to have our identity rooted "in Christ." As we walk through Ephesians, we're encouraged to "taste and see that the Lord is good"—embracing the variety and richness that God offers. Overview of Ephesians Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians while in prison around AD 60–62. The key purpose of this letter is to urge believers to walk as fruitful followers of Christ, serving in unity and love, particularly in challenging times. Paul's guidance in Ephesians is deeply relevant to our own spiritual journeys today. The book can be split into three main parts: Chapters 1–3: Who we are in Christ (our identity). Chapters 4–5: How to walk out our calling (practical Christian living). Chapter 6: How to face spiritual battles with the armor of God. Identity: In Christ, Adoption, and the Holy Spirit Paul uses the expression “in Christ” (or similar) ten times in the first fourteen verses of Ephesians. This repetition emphasizes that our identity is rooted not in our achievements, background, family, or appearance—but solely in who Jesus says we are. What matters is God's perspective of us, not the world or even those closest to us. Stephanie highlights that understanding our identity is a lifelong process, with four main steps: Discovery: Learn who God is, what He's done, who He says you are, and what He calls you to do. Acceptance: Move from mere head knowledge to heart-level acceptance. Truly taste and see that God is good. Transformation: Let your understanding of God begin to change you from the inside out—your thoughts, your self-image, and your relationships. Daily Living: Live in your new identity daily, relying on the Holy Spirit and the Christian community for support. Adoption into God's Family Paul employs the metaphor of adoption—a process which, in both Roman law and today, requires moving from one family to another, with full legal recognition and new rights. As Christians, we were once “children of wrath,” but God chose to bring us into His family, giving us full rights as His sons and daughters. This legal and spiritual transformation means that our old “family” (the world and sin) no longer defines us, and we now receive an eternal inheritance with Christ. The Holy Spirit: Our Seal and Guarantee Paul says we are “sealed by the Holy Spirit,” who is the guarantee of our inheritance. This sealing means we belong to God forever, and the Spirit empowers us to live out our new identity and purpose. Application and Encouragement As new members of God's family, we are called to let go of old habits and embrace the rights, intimacy, and inheritance God offers us in Christ. This transformation is possible because of the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, who assures us that we are deeply loved, accepted, and called. Take time this week to reflect on these truths. So, this course isn't really about what I've learned, or any wisdom I might have gathered. But, I've sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. FInally, I will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, I will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Officially, there's no clear motive in the murder of Charlie Kirk, but that hasn't stopped conservative leaders from pointing the blame at the left. Learn more about Triangle Credit Union   Transcript: Welcome to Money Tip Tuesday from the Making Money Personal podcast.   As of 2025 data, Amazon Prime has surpassed over 260 million users worldwide. It's a company widely recognized that countless users know and trust. So it's no surprise that scammers will try to use anything associated with Amazon, to pump out deceiving, yet convincing messages to grab your attention and get you to think you're working with Amazon to resolve an issue or update and order. But beware, because you might instead be working with a fraudster.   Imagine this. You're in the middle of your workday, focused on projects, emails and tasks, and suddenly your phone buzzes with a new message. It looks to be from Amazon stating that there's an issue with your recent order and that you can quickly resolve the issue by clicking the link to resolve the issue or initiate a refund. The message tries to get you to act fast by noting that if you don't follow the instructions you'll lose the refund. Maybe you're alarmed, or surprised, so what do you do? Click the link?  Unfortunately, many people fall for scams like these, especially when they come from such a recognizable company as Amazon. I personally have received these from not only Amazon, but PayPal, Ebay and even some of my financial institutions. It can't be stressed enough how important it is for us to respond appropriately to these messages. In this case, caution and consideration over swift action.   This message is timely because just recently Amazon reports that there have been fraudulent messages circulating with the purpose to steal financial information include fake order confirmations that require payment and emails claiming there is an account issue or order issue that needs to be resolved.  The purpose of these scams is to steal financial information or get you to transfer money. You're the first line of defense in safeguarding your financial information.   Here are a few tips to keep in mind when it comes to suspicious messages and identity protection in general.   Don't EVER click links in urgent text messages or emails. Verify by checking your account updated in the application or website that you visit directly. I personally do it myself all the time. If I get an urgent message about something going on with any of my accounts, I open the app on my own, log into my account and check my updates or order information. Most of the times that I've done this, it further confirmed the alarming message was fraudulent. Stay on top of current fraud trends. Knowledge is power. It's important to know what kinds of fraud tactics exist so you can best guard against them. Scammers are always inventing new ways to trick people, so keeping informed on current tactics is your best line of defense. They've found ways to use QR codes, text messages, phone calls, and now AI tools to come up with new and convincing scams. Keep an eye out for news on data breaches, scam alerts, and explore blog articles and other security information to keep your knowledge up to date. Amazon posts updates on their own security blog (check the link in the show notes), PayPal dedicates a page on their site for reporting and learning about ongoing fraud trends (link in show notes), even your financial institutions likely share news on recent scams. So next time you get word that there's another scam making the rounds, don't discount it, investigate it.    Protect your identity. Even the most vigilant person can still unfortunately become a victim of identity theft. All it takes is a very well-crafted scam during a moment of distraction or even a large-scale data breach to compromise your personal info. Not long ago, I noticed that Netflix was trying to sell me on an Angelina Jolie movie I'd never really heard of before. I watched the trailer and maybe because it featured Tony Shaloub playing a prophet, I added it to my watch list. Then I forgot about it.Last week, I got a notification about several things on my list leaving Netflix soon. This movie was on that list so I watched it. It was terrible. It came out in 2002 so I'm sure it's not useful to unpack the many ways it made me mad, though I might end up doing it anyway. Maksym Butkevych is a prominent Ukrainian human rights defender. Before the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he dedicated his efforts to the protection of people whose rights were violated. When Russia launched its war against Ukraine, Maksym joined the Ukrainian army to defend his country. In June 2022, he was taken prisoner of war by Russia and accused of committing a war crime. The case was entirely fabricated: Russia sought to “balance” the real war crimes committed by the Russian soldiers in Ukraine and prosecuted by Ukrainian courts with invented charges against Ukrainian prisoners of war. Maksym was sentenced to 13 years in prison. He spent almost two and a half years behind bars in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories before being freed in a prisoner exchange in October 2024. He endured beatings, deprivations, and torture, but his spirit remained unbroken. We met with Maksym in late August 2025.
