This week on MobTalk Talia is joined by Key facilitator of Heaps Decent Adam Bozzettoo. Heaps Decent is a non-for profit organisation which empowers young people to express their creativity through music and multi-media. Adam and Talia yarn about the importance of empowering young people through the music and arts. We often use music in our own way to connect with how we feel. Heaps decent gives young people from all walks of life a tool to help express what lies within them. Listen in to hear some incredible stories of young people and there musical talents, all the way from juvenile centres to pre-school kids. Everyone has a story, the sooner we start investing in our young people, the more change we will see in the world. Adam yarns about seeing Kobie Dee as a young fella in Redfern grow into the strong Aboriginal musician he is today, with the help of youth centres and works to guide and support him. Sending all the love to workers who spend their time helping our youth. http://heapsdecent.com https://www.facebook.com/heapsdecent https://www.instagram.com/heapsdecent/

Andrew Levins has been a DJ since he was a teenager and a food writer for almost as long. He's played at major music festivals all over the country, co-founded a youth music charity called Heaps Decent and in 2007 was named one of Sydney's 100 most influential people. He then went on to have two kids, run a successful restaurant, release a cookbook and start no less than five podcasts. We are stoked to have him on our podcast today to chat about the second book in his children's series– called Nelson - Broccoli and spies, his trick to getting kids to eat veggies, and how quitting the restaurant business to work from home saved his mental health. Adam Bozzetto is someone we've wanted to interview for a while, for a number of reasons. He's not a CEO, COO or Celebrity Chef, but his perspective on what's currently happening at the coalface of the industry is likely more highly tuned. He has been a DJ in Sydney for a number of years and has seen first hand the impacts of the licensing changes imposed in NSW. He also imports and distributes Japanese whisky simply because he's passionate about it. Further to this, Adam works with disadvantaged youth through Heaps Decent, a not-for-profit started by four hospitality minded individuals including international artist Diplo. His perspective is relevant and current. He is also just a really nice guy.
