In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, RJ Abeytia and intern India Otto are back in studio discussing everything they have seen and heard during the first six practices of USC spring football. On Friday the Trojans put the pads on for the first time before Saturday's closed Coliseum workout. The team was back out in full pads on Tuesday and Wednesday, with several offensive and defensives players speaking to the media after practice as well as head coach Lincoln Riley. The crew was at all of the open workouts and share their thoughts on which players were out or limited so far, some of the unique special teams drills we have seen, how some of the young players are coming along and what differences they have seen with new defensive coordinator Gary Patterson running things on that side of the ball. They also talk about the huge number of recruits that have been visiting all of the practices, some of the former players that have stopped by including wide receiver Marqise Lee and Thursday's USC Pro Day. St. John's has done it. A tough fought game in Newark at the Prudential Center, the Red Storm would prevail 72-65 to clinch at least a share of the Big East Title as well as the #1 Seed in the Big East Tournament. Led by Zuby Ejiofor as well as clutch play from Ruben Prey, Dylan Darling, and others, the Johnnies capped off a 25-6 regular season with their 18th win in Big East play. St. John's has been battle tested and they knew they would have a rock fight on their hands. Why would they want it to come easy, as St. John's would claw and fight for greatness. In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu look back at the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between the Black Caps of New Zealand and the 2024 champions India. We start with our instant reactions to India's dominant performance that made them the first team to win back-to-back titles at the Men's T20 World Cup. It's a tough one as Black Caps fans, but all credit to India for the way they played without fear in three crucial matches to finish the tournament and go all the way. There's praise for Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top of the order, as we wonder what - if anything - the Black Caps could have done to stop the Indian batting blitz. For New Zealand there was a brief moment of joy when Jimmy Neesham grabbed three wickets in an over, but Shivam Dube's flurry to finish meant the home side took all the momentum into the innings break. Tim Seifert made a nice start, but once Axar Patel struck with the key wickets of Finn Allen and then Glenn Phillips, it was always going to be tough work for the Kiwis. Jasprit Bumrah finished with 4-15 to claim the player of the match, while Sanju Samson was named player of the tournament. So there we have it - a month of high-quality cricket and plenty of fun for us on the show. New Zealand hearts broken again and India well deserved back-to-back champions in this edition of the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Scarlet Knights followed up two straight wins with two dreadful effort games in a 21 point loss at Minnesota and 7 point home loss to Washington. The defensive issues have been glaring all season. The lack of purpose on offense has been maddening as long two's continue to plague efficiency. As a whole, this Rutgers team lacks a true identity and hope is fading for any spirited finish to this season.
