An 11 year old girl searches for a missing rare book from her grandmother's (Holland Taylor) library and tries to understand why her family is fractured the way it is during a memorable summer at an isolated New Mexico adobe. While her mother (Kelly Lynch), like astronaut Michael Collins, goes to the dark side of the moon for a leukemia treatment, Ella must journey on her own to the strange moon of her grandmother's world. Ella's father, (Sean Patrick Flanery) orbits his daughter, as Ella befriends Miguel and Rosie to find acceptance of her mother's fate. Emotional connections are reshaped, and the music of Patrick Neil Doyle helps tell this unusual story. Today I had the chance to speak with Kelly Lynch about her role in KEPLER'S DREAM. We also discuss the documentary film THE OILER HOUSE, the architecture of John Lautner and Richard Neutra, how an early trauma propelled Kelly into her acting career, MAGIC CITY, MR. MERCEDES, THE JACKET, DRUGSTORE COWBOY, and of course how Mitch Glazer is more of a ladies man than Warren Beaty. It was an absolute pleasure to chat with Kelly, her film KEPLER'S DREAM will be in theatres December 1st. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/followingfilms/support
On this edition of The Cinema Clash: THE DISASTER ARTIST is rather brilliant, if you see THE ROOM first; Charlie champions Norway’s entry in the Oscar race, THELMA while Hannah prefers the Swiss contender, THE DIVINE ORDER; plus, two movies that won’t make the cut for any awards – the South Korean heist film THE SWINDLERS, and the formulaic fractured family Hallmark-esque drama, KEPLER’S DREAM.
The virtual lounge is open and Ty is proud to welcome legendary actress Kelly Lynch to Beats & Eats. Lynch talks about her role in the new family film "Kepler's Dream." The movie is about the adventures of an 11-year-old girl who is sent away to live with her grandmother in New Mexico while her mother seeks cancer treatment. The girl learns about herself as well as why her family is so fractured. In addition to her new film, Lynch talks about her legendary roles in such movies as "Drugstore Cowboy" and the 1989 action flick "Roadhouse." Plus, Lynch talks about high profile movie roles she turned down during her more than 30 years in Hollywood. The episode concludes with Lynch talking about the recent sexual harassment scandals involving Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer. Kelly talks openly about experiences in her younger years with now President Donald Trump and comedian Bill Cosby. For more on Kelly's new movie check out www.keplersdream.com.
