Jeff Lewis' new show was announced this past weekend at BravoCon but it is not all good news for Jeff. He has F'd up in a big sorta way and the BravoHolics, Andy Cohen and powers that be are not happy. Andy sits down with Karen Huger to get to the bottom of her addiction. Mary Cosby may have won BravoCon but TLC says her church is a cult and they are coming for her big time. Speaking of BravoCon, the BC audience has come for Lisa Barlow in a big kinda way but other than a few boos here and there, Bravo these days seems to be full of love, love, love. @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope BROUGHT TO YOU BY: THEREALREAL - therealreal.com/velvetrope (Get $25 Off At the Best Place To Shop Authenticated Luxury Bags, Clothing, Watches & more) HOMESERVE - homeserve.com (Home Owners Insurance That Start At Just $4.99 a Month) RO - ro.co/velvet (For Prescription Compounded GLP-1s and Your Free Insurance Check) INDEED - indeed.com/velvet (Seventy Five Dollar $75 Sponsored Job Credit To Get Your Jobs More Visibility) RAKUTEN - rakuten.co.uk (Go To Rakuten.co.uk, Download The App Or Install The Browser Extension To Earn Cash Back While You Shop At All Your Favorite Stores) PROGRESSIVE - www.progressive.com (Visit Progressive.com To See If You Could Save On Car Insurance) MOOD - www.mood.com/velvet (20% Off With Code Velvet on Federally Legal THC Shipped Right To Your Door) ADVERTISING INQUIRIES - Please contact David@advertising-execs.com MERCH Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Featured Musician: The Band Feel THE VIDEO: [After THE JUMP: Things discussable.] --------------------- Not necessarily in this order. 1. Maryland Preview: Offense starts at around noon They have a kid quarterback too, but Malik Washington doesn't have an offensive line or a running game to help him. He does have a redzone threat in Shaleak Knotts and a couple of other productive receivers. That offensive line is the problem—their left tackle is from Central Connecticut State and he's not even their worst OL. Their TE room is banged up and bad at blocking. The RB and TE are good receivers but don't contribute much to the run game either, and somebody on this team has to protect the QB. 2. Maryland Preview: Defense starts at around 12:20 PM They're very young—younger than we are. Remember when Jalen Huskey picked off JJ McCarthy in the endzone? Hint: it was the game JJ threw interceptions in 2023 and made us feel bad briefly. They're opportunistic in the secondary, and won some games early in the season because they pick the ball off. They also have some transfers who make the passing game tough sledding: an Ohio vagabond who gets the backfield, a true freshman pass rusher that M had its eye on. Safeties are the returning starters and the best part of the defense, but have to hang back and clean up after the kids. Prescription: pound 'em. 3. Hoops: TCU and MTSU After-Action Report starts around 12:40 PM This team can be maddening. They have eight to nine starters who will take over a game or throw it away on any given possession. Aday Mara can be inconsistent even when his height isn't, and that's why they're 6th in Kenpom. Team fixed its rebounding issues and sprung some major turnover issues that allowed MTSU back into a game they were out of, before they were out of it again. The Blue Raiders settled for a lot of jumpers—contested threes or pullup other twos, while M is scoring 1.4 PPP at the rim. That formula is going to work against a lot of teams, but San Diego State and Auburn are going to be real threats. 4. Northwestern After Review starts at around 1:00 PM Andrew Marsh, come on down. Already on star watch and boy do we like that. Bryce was pretty good except when he threw a REALLY BAD freshman interception and an only kinda bad OC interception because they went to the well one too many times against Robert Fitzgerald, who balled out. Run game: Jordan Marshall is special but Bryson Kuzdzal is playable. Offensive line continues to do well against this level of competition; got 70% of their available yards against a very good defense. Defensively Seth thinks he's figured out (finally) why Michigan's rotations are what they are, in part because Michigan finally figured out their rotations. They also tried a new 3-3-5 defensive strategy that uses Barham as a linebacker and Hausmann as a hybrid, but it suffered the same fate as a lot of Wink ideas when he springs something new. Fine games from Brandyn Hillman and Mason Curtis; not as mad at Bowles as I thought we'd be. Cam Brandt: that's still weird, at least in pass rush, but he did some things in the run game to justify himself again. Featured Artist: The Band Feel You know here at MGoBlog we're fans of the un-Googleable. The Band Feel, which will be at The Pig in a few weeks, looks, acts, and sounds like a lost act from the early 1970s. But man does it ever work now, and it's not like the psychedelic ideas stopped coming when all the Zeppelin knockoffs drank themselves into glam. The Band Feel picks up where Beck, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. left off, but they also work in all the threads that have been developed since. The hit is "Shoal Creek" which sounds like a long lost Led Zeppelin song, but I stumbled on "Fly Birdy, Fly" which weaves in some of the bluegrassy ideas that became country back into rock. Goodbye Virginia is off their 2024 EP but the others are from their newest album Into the Sun. Songs: Icarus Fly Birdy, Fly Goodbye Virginia Also because Across 110th Street will get our Youtubes taken down, the opener and outro: “The Employee is Not Afraid”—Bear vs. Shark “Ruska Vodka”—Motorboat

Dan and Kevin look back on a very tough week for the Flames. The last goal the Flames scored was into an empty net. Two straight games without a goal. Have you ever noticed that whenever we're going through a difficult situation in life, there's never a shortage of really bad advice. This is especially true when it comes to relationships and marriage. Everyone wants to tell us what we should do, but even when they have our best interests in mind, we need to really be mindful of what they are saying. High School Musical was a better production than what democrats are showing America in Congress. Chuck Schumer knows he has to fold, but he doesn't want the fold to lose him points with progressives. A visibly stunned republican caucus reveals to the press how wide a net Jack Smith was casting in his attempt to take down President Trump. Ted Cruz calls for a judge's impeachment.
Ravi welcomes back Tangle News founder Isaac Saul to discuss his viral essay, “Things Are Really Bad Right Now,” and why he believes recent actions should trouble Americans across the spectrum. They dig into alleged abuses in immigration enforcement, killings at sea, politicized prosecutions, and mounting pressure on the press. Isaac explains why abandoning party loyalty—and focusing only on whether leaders uphold basic principles—led him to sound the alarm, and how his mixed audience reacted. The conversation closes with a challenge: what values are we willing to defend, no matter who holds power?
In this special episode, Travis is joined by his producer, Eric, for a fun break-down of the worst financial advice out there—reacting to viral clips and sorting the truly terrible from the merely misunderstood. They cover everything from “buy low, sell high” myths to the dangers of credit cards and the unpredictable path of moving to NYC for your dreams. On this episode we talk about: Listening (and laughing) through clips of supposed “awful” financial advice—from cash hacks to leveraging credit as a college student Why “buy low, sell high” sounds easy, but almost no one—except 1% of day traders—actually wins playing that game over time The power of environment and why moving to a “dream city” could either ignite your career or send you financially underwater When using credit can make sense for disciplined business owners—but why most people should stick to cash Travis's ranking of the worst, most misleading, and situational money advice people keep hearing Top 3 Takeaways “Buy low, sell high” is not a strategy—it's gambling, and 99% of would-be day traders lose money over time. Your environment shapes your success; place yourself where the most opportunity exists, but only with a concrete, disciplined plan. Cash keeps you disciplined, but leveraged credit can be a useful tool—if you treat it like investment capital and avoid consumer traps. Notable Quotes “You're not going to beat the S&P 500—over 96% of funds and day traders fail to outperform the market.” “Don't confuse play money with nest egg money—it's fun until you gamble away your future.” “Environment shapes you, but most people never shape their environment.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️

Spent quite some time responding to some pretty triumphalistic comments from Roman Catholics, pointing out that there are clear dividing lines between biblical Christianity and Rome's modern state. Then we transitioned to looking again at David Allen's really bad book, and finished off with some ministry related announcements and requests. An hour and 15 today!
Even I am surprised at how quickly this has escalated. We got a big-time warning from the oil market earlier in the week. Whenever we see these things show up, usually there's a little back and forth, in and out, the thing starts out as a little blip and stays that way for awhile. Then, maybe, you get a bigger move much later on. Not this time. The oil curve blew way past all of that in just a few days.Eurodollar University's Money & Macro Analysis---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What if your gold could actually pay you every month… in MORE gold? That's exactly what Monetary Metals does. "The storm is both battleground and teacher. In the high storm's fury, we discovered not merely survival checks or combat mechanics, but the weight of choice. Humor became a shield, laughter our shardplate, as the Shardblade in hand revealed itself to be more than a weapon. Against the chasm fiend's relentless rhythm, the bond between friends became the only path to victory. The storm needs a guide. Ash Ely is that guide. Some stories wait for the storm to pass. Others demand a guide who will lead you into its very heart. A Game Master is more than a storyteller — they are a Shardbearer of narrative, a wielder of dice and destiny. Ash Ely is such a guide. On StartPlaying.Games, Ash shapes campaigns where camaraderie becomes steel and laughter binds tighter than plate. Their table is not just a game; it is a high storm of story, where each choice carries weight, and each player becomes part of something greater. If you seek tabletop RPG adventures, if you wish to test your courage in battle against chasm fiends, or to weave tales of character development, teamwork, and role-playing, then step into Ash's storm. The path begins here: StartPlaying.Games — Ash Ely "I saw how tactical decisions, combat strategies, and even failed dice rolls wrote a story more enduring than steel. This was no simple role-playing game; it was a tale of character development, teamwork, and storytelling woven into the very stormlight itself." — From the journals of a forgotten scout, on the eve of battle Shownotes This second half of the Stormlight Archive RPG actual play begins with grounding moments: life updates, the struggles of moving, and even the grudges of pets that mirror the stubbornness of men. These personal stories remind us that whether in Dungeons and Dragons, tabletop gaming, or life itself, the storms we weather shape who we become. The session then surges into epic tension. The looming high storm, the enigma of Shardblade bonding, and the terror of a chasm fiend boss fight create a crucible for both game mechanics and storytelling. Every player choice feels sharp, every dice roll a heartbeat. Humor, often chaotic, interlaces with danger, proving that friendship and camaraderie in role-playing games can hold fast even in the fiercest winds. The players grapple with combat strategies, team dynamics, and the consequences of their actions. Critical hits, failed rolls, and unexpected outcomes shift the battle's tide, while persuasion and leadership test not only the characters but the trust among players. Through it all, the narrative storytelling of the Stormlight Archive RPG shines — a reminder that fantasy adventures are not just about survival, but about the truths revealed when we choose together. Key Takeaways Life mirrors the game: Moving, pets, and family stories parallel the challenges of tabletop RPGs and character development. Humor in the storm: Laughter and camaraderie in role-playing games lighten even the heaviest encounters. Shardblades as destiny: Shardblade bonding and mechanics test both characters and players, demanding patience and commitment. The chasm fiend fight as crucible: A true boss monster encounter forces combat strategies and tactical decisions. Choice as stormlight: Every dice roll, persuasion attempt, and player choice illuminates the narrative. Friendship as armor: Teamwork and communication in RPGs are more powerful than steel. The rhythm of mechanics: Fast and slow turns, survival checks, and RPG game mechanics create tension and triumph. Story as aftermath: Critical hits, moral dilemmas, and unexpected alliances linger beyond the session, becoming part of the shared fantasy adventure. "A story is not complete until it is shared. Storms are faced together, and victories mean little without companions to witness them. If this tale has moved you — if the laughter, the choices, and the clash of Shardblade against chasm fiend struck true — then carry it outward. Tell a friend. Invite them to listen. Let them stand with us in the storm, dice in hand, part of the fellowship that makes role-playing more than a game. For in unity lies strength, and in shared story lies immortality." I woke up anxious today and this conversation is about what I did to not let it ruin my day. 4am kid wake up, a bad dream, excitement, crappy sleep, all had my system wired from the minute I opened my eyes. I'd love to tell you I used this magic tool to regulate my nervous system and get on with my day, but instead what I want to share is the roller coaster of regulated, and re-regulated, and re-regulating that my day called for.ps. This is an episode re-post from 2024. It got deleted in a tech glitch and I wanted to give it back a place on the podcast. In this episode, you'll learn:How to do a quick nervous system check-in when you wake up activatedThe difference between "urge parenting" and "regulated parenting"Why your system might default to urgency even when you're not actually running lateHow to shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic states using breath, vision, and movementThree takeaways:Having a regulated nervous system doesn't mean you're regulated all the time. Part of regulation means having the ability to notice and ride those waves throughout the day.Moments of activation aren't points of failure, but points of practice. If you've spent a lot of time in survival mode, it's normal that your system is still primed for urgency—rewiring takes time and repetition.Your state determines your story. When you're dysregulated you sees problems, when regulated you see solution and collaboration.—Looking for more personalized support?Book a FREE discovery call for RESTORE, our 1:1 anxiety & depression coaching program (HSA/FSA eligible & includes comprehensive bloodwork)Join me inside Regulated Living, a mental health membership and nervous system healing space (sliding scale pricing available)Order my book, Healing Through the Vagus Nerve today!*Want me to talk about something specific on the podcast?
