Summary As Christmas approaches, Dr. Michael Easley invites us to look beyond familiar traditions—food, travel, gifts, family rhythms—and consider a deeper anticipation: the divine visitation of God. Drawing from Genesis 50, Dr. Easley traces Joseph's final words and the Hebrew term pachad, a rich word describing God “visiting” His people in judgment, blessing, discipline, or deliverance. Joseph, at 110 years old, stands as a man who endured betrayal, injustice, imprisonment, and loss, yet he dies full of hope—insisting his bones be carried to the Promised Land because God will keep His word. Dr. Easley contrasts God's sovereign plan with human evil, reminding us that even the darkest chapters of Joseph's life were woven into God's purposes. He also emphasizes that death does not break God's promises; Joseph died without seeing the deliverance he believed in, yet he trusted the God who brings the dead to life. As we prepare for Christmas, this sermon invites us to consider the greatest visitation of all—the arrival of the divine Deliverer—and to rest in the certainty that God keeps His promises, even when our circumstances say otherwise. Takeaways God's sovereign plan operates even through the evil intentions and injustices of people. The Hebrew word pachad shows that God “visits” His people in discipline, blessing, and deliverance. Joseph believed God's promises even though he never saw their fulfillment in his lifetime. Death does not—and cannot—break the promises of God. The anticipation we feel around birth reflects a deeper longing wired into our souls for God's divine visitation. The birth of Christ is the ultimate visitation of God, bringing redemption exactly as He promised. To read the book of Genesis, click here. Click here for other Michael Easley Sermons.

40 Trips to France: Plus a French Christmas Feast with Annie & Elyse opens with host Annie Sargent welcoming back longtime traveler Janice Chung, who has now visited France 40 times. This episode explores why France keeps calling people back and how repeat travel changes the way you experience the country. Listen to this episode ad-free Janice explains why France feels like home to her. She talks about slowing down, speaking French even when it's imperfect, and choosing experiences over checklists. She shares how she plans trips around things that excite her. Sometimes it's a race, like the Adidas 10K in Paris. Sometimes it's a scenic train ride in the Ardèche. Other times it's simply walking for hours and letting the day unfold. Annie and Janice discuss favorite regions, especially lesser-known places like the Aveyron. They talk about beautiful villages, local food like aligot, and why these areas remain less touristy. Janice also explains how she mixes trains, rental cars, biking, and walking depending on where she goes. This episode also looks at how France has changed over the decades. Janice remembers dirtier streets, heavier smoking, and more car traffic. Today, she notices cleaner cities, contactless payments everywhere, and easier trip planning thanks to technology. Prices have gone up, especially in Paris, but great value still exists outside major cities. The episode ends with a festive magazine segment. Annie Sargent and Elyse Rivin talk about French Christmas traditions. They cover chocolate, foie gras, oysters, cheese, bûche de Noël, and how bakeries prepare for the holidays. It's practical, warm, and very French. If you love real conversations about travel, food, and life in France, this episode is for you. “Stop.” She said it — and Candace didn't.Ami breaks down the Candace Owens–Erika Trump meeting, why it happened, and why it changed nothing. In this solo episode of Ami's House, Ami reacts to the highly publicized meeting between Candace Owens and Erika Trump, unpacking the manipulation, deflection, and moral sleight-of-hand that followed. What does it mean when someone says they'll “stop lying” — when no one asked them to stop lying, but to stop altogether?Ami examines the media aftermath, the role of public pressure, and why certain figures refuse to draw clear moral lines even when behavior crosses them. He also looks at how outrage gets redirected away from conduct and toward critics — and why that inversion corrodes trust, credibility, and movements from the inside. From there, the conversation widens: how conspiracy thinking takes hold, how private texts are weaponized after death, and why values can't be abandoned just because advocates behave badly. Recorded from the road during a national tour, this episode is raw, unscripted, and uncompromising. In this episode, Ami covers:The Candace Owens–Erika Trump meeting and what really matteredWhy “I'll stop lying” is a tell — not a concessionMoral cowardice vs. moral clarity in media cultureHow critics become the villains while conduct gets ignoredThe danger of abandoning values because of flawed messengersWhy accountability can't depend on who's applying pressureA sharp, uncomfortable episode about manipulation, credibility, and refusing to play along.Follow Ami's House for more unfiltered conversations on culture, politics, and the moments everyone else tries to spin.

December 17, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 65 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers. We discuss the recent transactions made by the Steelers in addition to the team bringing in quite a few players for visits on Tuesday and the likely reasons for that. Former Steelers WR Ke'Shawn Williams was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, so we make sure to hit on that little nugget of news as well. Either the Steelers or the Baltimore Ravens will win the AFC North division this year and on top of that, neither team is likely to make the playoffs as a Wild Card team. Because of all that, and based on what may or may not happen in Week 16, Alex and I wonder if there could be a situation where either the Steelers or the Ravens, or even both teams, wind up resting players in Week 17 in preparation for a winner-take-all game against each other in Week 18. After poor and inconclusive discussion about potential scenarios in Week 17, Alex and I began our weekly recap of the all-22 tape of the Steelers' last game, the Monday night win against the Miami Dolphins. We start on the offensive side of the football for the Steelers and spend a lot of time discussing the play of T Dylan Cook against the Dolphins. We go over the other good, bad and ugly related to the Monday night offensive all-22 tape. After thoroughly discussing the offensive tape from Week 15, Alex and I then do the same when it comes to the defensive side of the football. We discuss the Steelers defense shutting down the Dolphins' running game on Monday night and how the unit went about limiting the Miami passing game for most of the game as well. Are the Steelers currently a team that could make some noise in the playoffs this year, assuming they indeed do wind up making the postseason tournament? Alex and address that question after we are finished discussing the Monday win against the Dolphins. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted and we wrap things up by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Everyday Injustice, host David Greenwald speaks with Shazad Carbaidwala, a longtime volunteer and board member with Prisoner Visitation and Support, a national organization that provides consistent, face-to-face visits to incarcerated people in federal facilities across the country. Carbaidwala has spent nearly a decade visiting people inside prisons, offering something both simple and rare in the modern correctional system: human connection. His work reflects a broader effort to counter isolation, neglect, and dehumanization within federal incarceration. Carbaidwala describes how he first became involved with Prisoner Visitation and Support while living in Philadelphia, answering a call to serve in a way that aligned with his belief in helping people wherever possible. What began as volunteer work grew into a long-term commitment that now includes board leadership and regular visits to federal institutions, most recently in Chicago. Over time, he says, the experience reshaped his own understanding of prisons, revealing not only the hardship of confinement but also the resilience, growth, and humanity of the people inside. The conversation explores what it is like to walk into a federal prison for the first time—the rigid procedures, the emotional weight, and the stark contrast between public perceptions of incarceration and lived reality. Carbaidwala emphasizes that while the environment can be intimidating, the interactions themselves are often deeply affirming. People inside are eager for conversation, connection, and recognition. Visits routinely involve ordinary human exchanges—discussing sports, family, politics, or faith—moments that restore a sense of dignity in a system that often strips it away. Greenwald and Carbaidwala also reflect on the broader implications of visitation for rehabilitation and reentry, particularly in a federal system where people are frequently housed thousands of miles from their families. They discuss shifting attitudes toward incarceration, the importance of recognizing trauma and deprivation in people's backgrounds, and the role of volunteers in bridging the gap between prison and society. At its core, the episode underscores a central theme of Everyday Injustice: meaningful change begins by seeing incarcerated people not as abstractions, but as human beings deserving of empathy, attention, and connection.

In his message, Nathan Meckley spoke about how rather than joy being manufactured, it visits us. We receive it as a gift. Have your experiences of pleasure, of happiness, and of joy been similar emotionally or spiritually or how have they been different? From where does the gift of joy come to you, especially during difficult times? And, to borrow from C.S. Lewis, have you ever been surprised by joy?

She remembered another early crisis where she watched doctors work on her from outside her body while surrounded by gentle beings she somehow recognized. Years later, a collapse in the mountains led her into that realm again, where she traveled toward a radiant source with countless others. The insights from that moment still shape how she senses people, loss, and the presence she believes is available to anyone willing to look inward.
