Klaus Obermeyer has had a bigger impact on skiing than any man alive, and when he wasn't innovating the sport, he was in Aspen or traveling the world to ski. He was often found surrounded by a harem of beautiful women.  Klaus's incredible story started 105 years ago in Hitler's Germany where he was shot by Nazis trying to escape on his skis. From there, he came to America with nothing and eventually became one of the biggest business moguls in skiing. In part 1 of the pod-cast, we talk about making his skis, life in Nazi Germany, moving to the US with $10, Sun Valley, Warren Miller, and much more. Send us a textThere's something profoundly meaningful about sharing a transcendent concert experience with the people you love most. In this deeply personal episode, I take you inside the magical My Morning Jacket show at Kansas City's Uptown Theater where I celebrated turning 40 by bringing my wife and daughter to experience the band for their first time (my 20th).From our prime spot on the rail where Jim James made a special connection with my daughter, to the spellbinding performance that stretched 33 minutes past curfew, the show exemplified everything that makes live music a transformative force. Grace Cummings delivered a mesmerizing opening set before joining the band for an unforgettable collaboration, while the Kansas City crowd demonstrated why this city remains an underrated music hotspot. The heart of this episode features my conversation with the brilliant Courtney Schoeberlein, the artist behind the stunning concert poster that captured my daughter's imagination. Courtney shares her remarkable journey from bartending to becoming a full-time artist, the thrill of working with her dream band, and the fascinating philosophy behind concert poster art. Her perspective on how posters serve as vessels for both the creator's and the audience's memories reveals why these artifacts matter so much to the music community. As I reflect on four decades of life and hundreds of concerts, I explore the profound question of why we chase these live music moments. It's not just about hearing songs performed—it's about creating touchstone memories that connect us to specific times, people, and feelings. These shared experiences become part of who we are, stories we can tell long after the music fades.Whether you're a dedicated concertgoer or simply curious about the power of live music, this episode celebrates how these fleeting moments can become the anchors that give our lives meaning and connection. While walking through Dublin city, journalist Quentin Fottrell was scammed.A pleasant sounding, nicely dressed man stopped him and started chatting. Didn't Quentin remember him? After all, the man said, he had worked on his house some years ago. Not wanting to be rude and a little embarrassed at forgetting a face, Quentin continued the chat which slowly turned to the fact that the man had forgotten his wallet and needed some help to get home. It was only when he had walked away, €40 lighter, that Quentin realised he had been scammed. He wrote about the experience in The Irish Times and his article elicited multiple replies from men who had also been scammed by the same man in Dublin city centre.Donal Cronin was one such reader. Although he is a communications expert and deeply knowledgable in the psychology behind persuasion, he too fell victim to the smooth-talking scammer. He took a photograph of the man while they were chatting and Quentin was able to confirm it was the same confidence trickster. This episode was first published in January 2025Quentin and Donal came into studio to explain how the scam worked and how they feel now having being duped.Presented by Bernice Harrison. «Wir haben wirklich unser Bestes gegeben», sagt My Morning Jacket-Keyboarder Bo Koster im Sounds!-Interview über das zehnte Album seiner Southern-Rock-inspirierten Kapelle. Und er hat verdammt recht. «Is» ist das beste My Morning Jacket-Album seit Jahren. Join us for this Feminine Power Time, Embracing Life's Jacket : 5 Inquiries to Find Clarity & Courage in Choppy Waters - one of the four Power Pauses we do each year, this one focused on the energy of Equinox, Harmonizing. Taking a Power Pause quarterly is one of the best practices for decreasing anxiety, increasing clarity, receiving guidance and gaining courage. When we pause at near the equinoxes and solstices, our internal rhythm aligns with the natural rhythm... we gain clarity on how to focus in the coming months + we take a stand to ensure you have the support and structure you need to hold you. Power pauses are a personal-leadership best practice, and a wise way to run your business, organization and team. Also must if you want to stay centered, sustained and sane in our current world. Every year I hold power pauses at this 4 key shifting points, the equinoxes and the solstices, March, June, Sept and Dec - within the Feminine Wisdom Way Collective, and for leaders  of teams, companies and organizations in which we do "Cyclical Strategic Planning." While the structure of each Equinox power pause is the same, every year we are different and every year the world is different. So I change up the flavor and focus based on what's needed.  This year, I felt compelled to share with you a series of 3 inquiries shared with me by one of my long-time mentors - Pele Rouge Chadima co-founder of Timeless Earth Wisdom. Plus 2 sustainable success and wellbeing inquiries we ask every year at this time.  The wisdom and inquiries have def been a life jacket for staying above the choppy waters of chaos, finding my way back to center when I fall  off my 'life raft," and answering the call to what's taking me into bigger waters.    It all centers around "Trusting Life" which is different than "trusting the Universe" .. in subtle but pretty profound ways - both are needed.  The first part of this episode I share what I have been learning through this lense of Trusting Life that has truly been a life-jacket. The second part I will take you through a ritual - like a labryrinth - with 5 inquiries to help you tune into the messages Life has for you, where your resistance might be, and what is calling you to accept and center into so you can receive the gift Life is trying to offer.  See you there,   Christine p.s. SHARE THIS POWER PAUSE WITH A FRIEND ... go through the inquiries together and then this year become re-harmonizers for each other when you get the wobbles or can't seem to find your centered truth.  ***** RESOURCES Wisdom Inquiries - Access on Feminine Power Time Podcast Page Timeless Earth WIsdom and Pele Rouge - https://www.centerfortimelessearthwisdom.org/  Other Equinox Power Pauses - These inquiries are different than the ones I  have done in Equinox Power Pauses in the past, but those inquiries are also still valid for finding imbalances, shifting habits, setting focused intentions - you can access the library of Equinox Power Pauses here.   CONNECT: Subscribe to Christine's Monthly Wisdom Letters - https://christinearylo.com/wisdom-letter-signup/ Linked in: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christinearylo/ Feminine Wisdom Cafe - private online community: http://www.FeminineWIsdomcafe.com You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChristineArylo

Hello to you listening in Toronto, Ontario, Canada!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Recently, I was talking with my friend and fellow podcaster, Jeff Ikler of Getting Unstuck - Cultivating Curiosity podcast. We were comparing notes about growing up in a time when we made do with what was available to us. What we had was enough even if we wished for just a little more. I promised Jeff a story.Diane's story version:  Once upon a time long ago and far away there lived in a small town a Jewish tailor. He had been making clothes for the people in that town for as long as anyone could remember. He was a skilled craftsman creating lovely dresses as well as fine suits, trousers, and shirts. And even though the clothes he made lasted a good long while the tailor was always busy. You see what set him apart was being thrifty. While other tailors would use a whole bolt of cloth and charge their customers for the extra fabric, this tailor knew how to carefully and skillfully cut the fabric so that there was little waste.  But here's something else the people in that town knew. Never once had the tailor sewn something brand new to wear himself. Until one day he decided that it was time. He selected a bolt of fine fabric and made himself a coat. He wore his coat with pride until one day he realized that his coat had seen better days. So he took it apart and made himself a jacket. He wore that jacket with pride until one day he realized that it had seen better days. So, he took it apart and made himself a vest which, yes, you're right he wore with pride until it really had seen better days. That vest became a jaunty cap and in time that cap became a covered button for his trousers. When that button was gone he had nothing left but this story. And he told his story to everyone with pride in his voice.Story Prompt: Think about a time when you finally did something wonderful for yourself. What was it? How did it feel? Write that story! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" A new album release by your favourite band is an important event. Thank god for this. A new album is a reprieve, an escape, a comfort and a joy. Of course, to experience all these emotions you do have to take the time to really listen. I particularly love that a record has the power to be your own personal time machine. When I first played back the new My Morning Jacket album, simply titled is, I was transported back in time to the late 70s, back to my childhood. A time of albums on vinyl or cassette, played on ‘music centres' (that's what we called hi-fi systems in Northern England back then). A time when ELO or Supertramp, or The Stranglers or Queen, would make albums consisting of singles with accessible catchy melodies mixed with more exotic, experimental songs that were probably marked during the recording process as ‘album tracks'. A time when you could expect each and every album released by a band to have a different, distinctive character from the last one. It was a time of greater attention and patience and a slower, simpler time of life. 70s memories are especially magical for me, so a soundtrack courtesy Jim James & co is a total treat. It isn't fashionable music that My Morning Jacket creates. Indeed, their alchemical meld of alt-country rock, alternative country/Americana and late era Beatles-esque psychedelia make MMJ sound always like a band out of time. That's just how Jim James intended it. Music perfect for sucking you into their timeless orbit. And no real desire beyond that. It's the way Jim James operates these days. Put your best work out there into the universe and then what will be will be:“Of course we all want our work to be successful, me included. But I've ridden the rollercoaster so many times now, I know the outcome is always the same, whether people like a record or not, I still had to deal with my own depression and self loathing. External validation will not fill that hole, you can only do it yourself, love yourself and try to see things more clearly”. MMJ have never shied away from dissonance, off kilter time signatures and ear-splitting guitar work, but there is always the emergence of beauty from the noise. This abruptly contrasting style takes a backseat on is. Instead, the songs are what matters most on this album. Legendary rock producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Springsteen and ACDC) has pushed Jim James and his band to be even more in service of the songs than they have been before. But the melodies and grooves are so strong, it works wonders such that the album stands up as one of their best so far. Pretty good show after 25 years and 10 LP records. And Jim James loves LP records:“I love the album as an art form. It's important as artists to do what you love, and don't worry about the world and what the world's gonna do. It's cool even if people love one song, but if they are gonna take the journey of the album, that's my dream. We aspire to make music in that format, but even if one person loves one song, that's still so awesome”. Yes, yes it is. Support the showGet more related content at: https://www.songsommelier.com/
