She’ll share her journey from actor to director, the challenges of telling such a personal story, and what it means to bring a uniquely African perspective to global audiences. Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists. Pepi Sonuga always knew she would become a performer. Even as a little girl in Lagos, Nigeria, watching “Barney” tapes that her flight attendant mother brought home, Pepi felt certain that someday, she'd be the one onscreen. That childhood conviction helped Pepi survive the culture shock of moving to Los Angeles at age 10, teen bullying, and years of grinding in an industry that tried to tell her, over and over, that she was replaceable. With her star now on the rise – with roles in Tyler Perry's “The Six Triple Eight” and Hulu's “Pam & Tommy” – Pepi joins Sophie to reflect on her journey so far, the songs that defined her girlhood, and her ultimate dream: to lift up the country she came from and “the little girl just like me who deserves everything she dreams about, too.” Here are her songs. "I Wanna Be a Rockstar" – Barney "You Gotta Be" – Des'ree "This Is What Makes Us Girls" – Lana Del Rey "The Only Exception" – Paramore "Dreamer" – Charli XCX "Ready" – Tems "Ojuelegba" – Wizkid

Today on another encore episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to playwright, author and educator Luke Yankee, son of Oscar-winning actress Eileen Heckart. Luke spoke to us about his biography about his mother, Just Outside the Spotlight, his then upcoming play about his mother and the many, many tales he witnessed growing up the son of his actor/mother who was anything but a wilting flower. Eileen was a pistol and o're to be the subject of one of her pointed barbs! We also talk about host Josh Mills' mother Edie Adams who Luke had a first person connection to as well as some of Luke's mother's best known films, The Bad Seed, Barefoot in the Park, Butterflies Are Free and more. Along with that comes great tales about Goldie Hawn, George Segal, Soupy Sales, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe and many more. While all of these amazing stories are told with a fun and mirth, there was one moment that genuinely choked us up in it's beautiful humanity that we just loved hearing. It was a pure and honest moment that gave us a truly well rounded picture of the complex woman that was Eileen Heckert. Broadway, the big screen and even a pivotal role on the small screen on The Mary Tyler Moore Show are all part of this episode with Luke Yankee. Everyone has a story.

It's the 350th episode — and we couldn't think of a more powerful, honest, and inspiring guest to help us celebrate this milestone. Today, Ali is talking with actress, writer, and fierce infertility advocate Camille Guaty, who you may know from Prison Break, The Vampire Diaries, Duster, and so many other shows and movies (Fertility Rally members especially love her in the Disney move, Gotta Kick it Up). But beyond her Hollywood career, Camille opens up about the deeply personal journey that led to her son — a journey that included years of IVF, heartbreak, hope, and ultimately, using donor eggs to build her family. Camille gets candid about the emotional rollercoaster of infertility, pivoting to donor conception, what it was like being a pregnant actress in Hollywood,, the advocacy work she's doing with Resolve, and how she's now using her voice to normalize all the ways families are made.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/infertile-af-infertility-and-modern-family-building-through-art/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
