Live from the 2025 Aachen Tattoo Convention—one of the world's finest tattoo gatherings—we bring you a conversation with the legendary Luke Atkinson. A master of Japanese tattooing with over 40 years of experience, Luke has crossed paths with some of the most influential artists of our time, including Horiyoshi, Filip Leu and many more. In this episode, Luke shares insights on commitment, the price of knowledge, the value of the process, and the importance of honoring the clients who allow us to do what we love. His wisdom is the kind that can reshape the way we approach our craft—no matter where we are in our journey. Luke's energy is contagious, and talking with him was a real pleasure—something that was felt not just by me, but by everyone in the audience. I hope his words inspire you as much as they inspired me. And if you ever get the chance, make sure to experience the Aachen Tattoo Convention for yourself—it's truly a well of inspiration and learning from some of the best in the world. Thank you Andreas Coenen and the whole podcast crew that made this possible. One of the cool things about this trip we're finding is being able to stick microphones in interesting peoples faces anytime we're all sat around hanging out, and (hopefully) it not being weird. Big Aussie Luke has been hanging out for us since the AWSI event finished, and we've had a couple mornings sat around in Kenny's garage shooting the shit. As always thats when the best stuff gets discussed and so we switched the coffee machine on and sat there a bit longer. A properly split episode - half about Ken, winging, Mikeslab kit and board building, and half about Freddies 3rd SUP coach Luke and his downwind and prone journey. Sitting down and doing these things face to face over a coffee/beer/burger is so much fun and is farrrrrrr easier to get guests relaxing sooner. We hope you enjoy!
Steven Facer and Luke Atkinson discuss Active Learning and proving its worth during lockdown.

The police in Solomon Islands continue to investigate the deaths of Australian, Trent Lee and British man Luke Atkinson who were killed when a bomb exploded in their office and residence, in an upmarket part of the Solomons' capital, Honiara on Sunday night. The future of rugby union in Tonga is teetering on the brink, with the battle for control of the sport in the islands still unresolved. And a village on Vanuatu's Tanna island uses its traditional kastom beliefs to develop a song about COVID-19 but health officials raise concerns that these performances can spread misinformation.
