In a quick dip off, [SPOILERS] we discuss the Venom: There Will Be Carnage post credit sequence so beware of [SPOILERS] We then start speculation on the direction the Spider-Man cinematic universe could take. We give our lukewarm by the time you hear this take on Dave Chappelle's The Closer. That discussion leads to a small tangent on toxic masculinity and dudes who are out here fuckin' up. This week on the show, Phillip is by himself. What better way to finish out his 007 series of episodes, the way he started it in January of 2020, by himself. He starts the show out by making some corrections from the last show, and then he dedicates the episode to Shawn Holstein, a friend who passed away from Covid back in October 2020 and was a big James Bond fan. Then Phillip dives into Daniel Craig's newest and last James Bond outing, No Time To Die. He then reads his best of Bond Brackets; Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig, and his favorite of the series. It's a fun episode, but like always, it's full of SPOILERS. At the end Phillip gives his Phil's Film Favorite of the week, 1988's Shoot To Kill. Come back next week for In Hollywood Pt. 1: L. A. Confidential (1997) w/ Phillip's cousin Chip.

We went and saw Lamb, and I'm still wondering about what I saw. This moody and intimate Icelandic horror movie may not have a lot of scares, but it serves up plenty of dread, and will stick with you for a while. (1:31) - Intro(7:03) - Synopsis(7:31) - Review(9:13) - Score(22:59) - Spoilers(58:06) - Rotten Tomatoes Game(1:07:24) - Horror Movie Whooooores @dgoebel00 on Instagram provided this amazing artwork. Follow him and check out his website. Lamb can be found in theaters now Synopsis Lamb is about a childless couple working a farm in Iceland that discovers a unique lamb born in their barn. They take special care in raising this lamb, but something's not quite right. You can tell because some of the other lambs have shifty eyes. https://youtu.be/hnEwJKVWjFM Review of Lamb This is a very unique movie. It's one of the things I crave in a moviegoing experience: novelty. There has definitely never been a movie like this one. The story is very simple and spare, but somehow punches you in the gut with vague allegory. It's almost hard to come up with what this movie is about without just describing the plot, but the themes go into nature vs nurture, seeking happiness where you shouldn't, motherhood, loss, jealousy, and synthpop. It is definitely slowly paced, but that isn't to say that it isn't engaging. It held my attention, and affected me on an emotional level. The visuals were stark but beautiful, reminding me a lot of A24's other recent release The Green Knight. https://www.horrormovietalk.com/2019/10/16/the-witch-review/ If you think all of A24's movies are pretentious garbage, then you'll hate this movie, but if you want to see something that you haven't before and are willing to soak in some melancholy for a couple hours, I highly recommend it. Hi friends! On this episode, we discuss “Begin Again, Again” by Eve Dangerfield. This is the first book we've recapped that explicitly exists in a post (or let's be honest, during) COVID world. The pandemic looms pretty large over this story of a recently sober former podcaster who falls for a onetime professional athlete. DANGER, SPOILERS! James Bond finally returns to cinemas in a world where questions about sexism, racism and Britishness have seldom been more pointed. Is there a place for a suave, womanising emissary of British power in the modern world? Is it time to reassess the role of Bond in British culture? Regulars and Bond fiends Ros Taylor and Arthur Snell talk to Ian Kinane, editor of the International Journal of James Bond Studies and a senior lecturer in English literature, about their first Bonds and where 007 should go next. Do not listen unless you've seen the film.“Bond offers a parallel universe in which Britain always wins.” - Arthur Snell“Bond probably has many fatherless children all over the world.” - Ian Kinane“James Bond is so far from the boring reality of intelligence work, like people staring at databases.” - Arthur Snell “Shirley Bassey is seen as singing an anthem of Britain's glory days of Empire.” - Ian Kinane“Bond seems to embody what is properly British, but more often he's played by actors who aren't British themselves.” - Ian KinanePresented by Ros Taylor and Arthur Snell. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Dayne Fox, are here tonight – Sat., Oct. 9th., 2021, to breakdown the UFC Vegas 39: Mackenzie Dern vs. Marina Rodriguez event, which was broadcast from the cozy confines of the APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. (SPOILERS...) After undergoing 4 cancelled bouts (2 due to COVID & 2 due to withdraws) while setting up this card; the UFC featured a short & early midday 9-bout Fight Night event, so as not to compete with the big Fury-Wilder 3 boxing event tonight. A Women's StrawWeight bout took the spotlight as the headliner for the UFC Vegas 39 event. Up-and-comers, #5 ranked Mackenzie Dern & #6 ranked, Marina Rodriguez went to war with one another in the main event of this little card which many were simply calling, “Better than next weeks card?” All things said and done, now that this card is in the books, the main event actually wasn't as lackluster as anticipated earlier this week. Dern & Rodriguez managed to put on a decent, entertaining show for us. Plus, the decision for Marina was a solid one by the judges for a change (49-46x3). For the co-main event, we had a fun WelterWeight brawl between Randy ‘Rudeboy' Brown & Jared ‘Nitetrain' Gooden. The fight went the distance, without grappling. The judges scorecard awarded Brown with a unanimous victory (30-27x3). Worth noting from the post-fight interview, “The first kick I threw, the uptick, dislocated my big toe.” - Randy Brown. We also had a couple decent finishes on the 4-bout main card from Mariya Agapova over Sabina Mazo, who threw a smashing punch & took the ‘W' following it up with a nice rear naked choke at the opening of the 3rd Rd, & well worth mentioning, was our 1st finish of the card from Alexander Romanov over Jared Vanderaa, via KO/TKO G&P at the close of the 2nd Rd. During the 5-bout prelims card we had 2 relatively quick finishes as well, from Lupita Godinez over Silvana Gomez Juarez, via Armbar submission in the 1st Rd & from Steve Garcia over Charlie Ontiveros, via KO/TKO, G&P in the beginning of the 2nd Rd. Overall, this now mere 9-bout card saw only 1 exhilarating 1st Rd finish, 2 impressive KO/TKO's, 1 sweet submission, & 5 hard-fought decisions including our main event, & 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Mariya Agapova and Loopy Godinez; FOTN honors went to Marina Rodriguez vs. Mackenzie Dern. What a great afternoon of fights we have to share with you, join us to discuss all the action... The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is finally here and we DEVOURED it! The sequel to the Inheritance Games, this book doubles down on the puzzles, teen drama, and thrillery goodness we have all come to cherish. Karen does an impromptu William Blake poetry recitation and Kelly blows it out of the water with her theories for the conclusion of the trilogy. Our sisterhood becomes divided over allegiances to competing Hawthorne brothers, but we forge a truce in our devotion to Libby, the greatest character of all time. (Except for Helen. #teamhelenalways)Just remember: SPOILERS.
