Spoilers for Disclosure Day. Jason and Rachel review Disclosure Day, Steven Spielberg's new alien movie starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Wyatt Russell. There are things to like here: Emily Blunt is great, Colman Domingo remains a human weighted blanket, and a few sequences feel like vintage Spielberg. But the movie's big alien reveal, TV station climax, confusing character logic, and “world peace / just listen” ending left us deeply frustrated. We talk Close Encounters comparisons, little green men, thumb drives, World War III, invisible fire trucks, AI-era skepticism, David Koepp, Spielberg nostalgia, and why Disclosure Day ends up as a disappointed thumbs down. Got a couple of biggies for you on this midweek drop here at Breakfast All Day. First, we review "Toy Story 5," the latest installment in the beloved Pixar Animation franchise. This is a step up from the fourth film, with some great new additions alongside the characters you know and love. Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack, Greta Lee, Tim Allen and Conan O'Brien co-star. In theaters June 19. We also did a live spoiler chat about "Disclosure Day." There's so much we didn't want to discuss in our non-spoiler review of Steven Spielberg's new sci-fi epic, particularly the ending. But now that the film has been in theaters for several days, it's time to go in-depth. Listen and share your thoughts. Keep and eye (and ear) out on Friday for reviews of "Leviticus" and "The Death of Robin Hood," as well as our usual Movie News LIVE! Thanks for being here. Send us Fan MailHave you ever looked around at your life and thought, "Nothing is technically wrong... so why do I feel so disconnected from it?"That is exactly what we're diving into this week with speaker, coach, and author Iona Holloway.Iona's new book, Do the Brave Thing, starts with a question that hit me right between the eyes: What happens when you've done everything right, collected all the gold stars, built the life that looks impressive on paper... and still feel dead inside? In this conversation, Iona shares the rock bottom moment that forced her to confront a life built on perfectionism, achievement, and invisible suffering. We talk about the pressure so many women carry to be strong, capable, and endlessly high-functioning, and why those qualities can sometimes become the very thing keeping us stuck. One of my favorite parts of our conversation was Iona's distinction between being strong and being brave. Strength can look like gritting your teeth and carrying more than you should. Bravery asks something different. It asks you to listen to yourself, tell the truth about what you want, and tolerate the discomfort that comes with change. We also explored how fear disguises itself as practicality, perfectionism, procrastination, and even the stories we tell ourselves about why we're the exception. The woman who can't. The one for whom it's harder. The one who should wait until she's ready.Spoiler alert: ready is not coming.Iona shared her powerful "5 and 95 Rule," the idea that a brave life is one that makes five-year-old you happy and ninety-five-year-old you proud. It is simple, memorable, and honestly one of those ideas that lingers long after the conversation ends.If you've been quietly wondering whether there's more available to you than simply being impressive, this episode is your reminder that feeling alive matters too. What's Inside:Why being impressive and feeling alive are not the same thingThe difference between being strong and being braveHow fear hides inside perfectionism, procrastination, and practicalityIona's "5 and 95 Rule" for making braver decisionsThe thing I keep coming back to from this conversation is that bravery rarely looks cool. Most of the time it looks awkward, uncertain, and wildly uncomfortable. What's one brave thing you've been avoiding lately?  DM me on Instagram…I'd genuinely love to hear your answer. Mentioned in This Episode:Brave ThingDo the Brave Thing BookIona Holloway on InstagramIona Holloway on LinkedInGet Healthy AF Book FreeOonagh Duncan on InstagramFit Feels GoodLeave me a voice note on Speak Pipe!

What questions should you be asking the people you love while you still can? That's the thread running through this conversation with Dorothy Roberts, whose memoir The Mixed Marriage Projectstarted with a stack of boxes. After her parents passed, Dorothy opened them and found nearly 500 interviews her white father had conducted with interracial couples in Chicago, beginning in 1937, almost two decades before he married her Black mother. Inside were wild parties, a nudist camp, a turn-of-the-century club for mixed couples, and a file labeled number 224 that turned out to be about her.We talk about the interviews her father never published and the book contracts he kept walking away from, why she hid her father's whiteness from her Black classmates at Yale, and the painful stereotypes that surfaced even inside a club devoted to interracial marriage. We get into the big question at the heart of the memoir too: whether love, the everyday intimate kind, can actually dismantle racism. Spoiler, it's complicated.Dorothy Roberts is a scholar, professor, and author of five books on race, gender, and the systems that devalue Black women and mothers. The Mixed Marriage Project is her first memoir, built from the nearly 500 interviews her father left behind. If you feel stuck in your training and your strength just isn't moving, this episode is for you. Heather and Katie break down the most common reasons people hit strength plateaus and what to actually do about it. Spoiler: it's probably not your genetics. What We CoverToo much, too soon Doing too much cardio, too much volume, or going all out six days a week without proper fueling and recovery are the most common traps, especially when people return to training motivated. Working out is a stressor. Add in life stress, poor sleep, and under-eating, and your bucket overflows fast. You can't lose fat and get stronger at the same time (unless you're a beginner) Chasing two goals simultaneously is physiologically impossible for intermediate lifters. Use strength as your tracking metric: if you're in a deficit and maintaining strength, you're doing it right. If your strength is tanking, your deficit is probably too aggressive.Your program might just suck No progressive overload. Too many isolation movements and machines. Not enough compound lifts. Changing your program too often or not often enough. These all stall progress. There's a sweet spot between doing the same movements long enough to adapt and progressing them in a way that actually makes sense.Rest between sets matters Skipping rest between sets turns strength training into cardio. You need a couple of minutes to regenerate ATP and actually perform on your next set. Junk volume + no rest = wasted time.Sleep Less than six hours and you're already fighting an uphill battle. Seven is the floor. Sleep is non-negotiable.Protein and fiber Stop overcomplicating nutrition. Focus on protein and fiber, and you'll naturally crowd out the junk. It's hard to eat like crap when you're hitting those two targets consistently.Form and range of motion Quarter squats, half reps, and cutting range of motion might let you load more plates, but it won't transfer to real life. You only get strong in the range of motion you train. Drop the weight, hit depth, and build real strength. You probably haven't hit your genetic limit If your bench is stuck at 135, it's almost certainly your program, your form, or your recovery and not your ceiling. Most people have barely scratched the surface.Hire a coach — even just once a month You may not need full-time personal training. Form-check in sessions can make a massive difference. Have them audit your squat, deadlift, overhead press, bench, and row. Full-body workout + full audit in one session.Want More?Join our Facebook GroupChat about 1:1 Fitness Coaching OptionsGet 3 Weeks of Nutrition Support for FreeFree Knee Pain Training GuideGet Hundreds of Movement Demos on Our Youtube Channel

Clear History (2013) Director: Greg Mottola Cast: Larry David, Michael Keaton, Bill Hader, Jon HammWhat happens when you take a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, forget to trim the fat, and stretch it into a feature film? You get Clear History — and honestly? It's still kind of great, even if it refuses to be anything other than exactly what it is.This week John and Sean dive deep into this 2013 HBO gem, requested by Patreon member Greg (host of You Can Eat That Crust and Pizza Bones), where Larry David plays a man who gives up a billion-dollar stake in an electric car company over a name, disappears to Martha's Vineyard, and plots revenge against the guy who got rich off his stupidity. You know — totally relatable stuff. In this episode, we discuss:Larry David Playing Larry David (Again) — The guys break down why this movie is essentially an uncut Curb episode with a different character name slapped on it. Is that a bad thing? Is that a great thing? The answer is: yes, and also both. They Didn't Trim the Fat — A deep dive into what separates a tight 40-minute Curb episode from a 100-minute movie that wanders into dead spots. Spoiler: it's editing discipline, and this movie didn't have enough of it.Joe Stumpo Steals the Whole Damn Movie — Michael Keaton shows up playing the town drunk on Martha's Vineyard and absolutely runs off with every scene he's in. Sean makes the case that Keaton is the unsung MVP of this entire production, and it's hard to argue with him."I Know There Aren't Any Women That Have It" — The guys land on the single funniest line in the movie, a throwaway bit about old bald guy fetishes and prison demographics that somehow perfectly encapsulates everything Larry David is as a comedian. We Also Talked About:WWE Legends: Legion of Doom (Amazon) (Biography Special) — Sean watched the documentary on Hawk and Animal, and it goes places. Specifically: a deeply emotional story about a penlight on a fishing boat that Nikita Koloff somehow turned into a religious experience. You have to hear it to believe it.The Boys (Amazon) (Season Finale) — Sean finished the series finale and loved it. No spoilers, but he makes a pointed observation about a show that commentates on superhero movie culture while simultaneously spinning off into... more superhero content.Faces of Death (Amazon) (2026 Remake) — A surprisingly solid new take on the concept, reframed around a content moderator on a fake social media platform stumbling onto recreated snuff-style videos. Sean gives it half a hot dog and means it as a compliment.Magnum Opus (Ebay) (Youtube) (The Movie) — Directed by friend of the show Addison Bennick (Psycho Ape I & II), this DIY Jackass-style movie is a 20-year labor of love and John genuinely digs it. Available through Addison's eBay store — physically, like a lunatic, the way movies should be sold.Six Days to Air (Youtube)— The South Park documentary. John finally watched it. Trey Parker and Matt Stone spend most of the six days doing absolutely nothing, and it's riveting.Dead Man on Campus (Amazon) (1998) — Mark-Paul Gosselaar in a movie about two college kids trying to get their suicidal roommate to actually do it so they can pass their classes. Even by 1998 standards, John was a little stunned this got a theatrical release. No Jeremy Piven, though, so it edges out PCU.Some of the above links are affiliate links — if you purchase through them we get a small kickback, and it's the best way to support the show.New episodes of the Dewey Pod Monster podcast drop every week. We have a lot of feelings about our bodies. What we don't have (and what the church has largely failed to give us) is a theology of them.Lisa Whittle has been a Bible teacher, bestselling author, and pastor's daughter her whole life. And even she admits she never thought to open Scripture and ask: what does God actually say about this from Genesis to Revelation, all the way through? It took a season of hearing women's stories, getting genuinely offended by the emptiness of the body-positivity movement, and a direct invitation from her publisher to finally take that deep dive. What she found changed her.In this conversation, we explore why the church's silence on the body has been a teaching in itself, and not always a helpful one. We talk about Imago Dei and why knowing it intellectually isn't the same as living from it. We also unpack what "It is finished" means for the woman who still hates what she sees in the mirror, as well as for the woman who lives in chronic pain or disability and wonders if whole body theology is even available to her.Spoiler: it is. Whole body theology leaves no body out.We also go somewhere that doesn't get talked about enough… the particular weight that falls on women in ministry who step onto a platform and suddenly find themselves fighting a second invisible battle alongside the one they were actually called to fight. This is a conversation that is equal parts honest, theological, and deeply freeing. Rachel grew up on He-Man, She-Ra, and the whole Masters of the Universe toy-cartoon universe. Jason mostly remembers it as the moment he realized cartoons could just be commercials for toys. So naturally, expectations were complicated. We get into why the new Masters of the Universe feels like it can't decide what kind of movie it wants to be, whether He-Man works as modern IP, the strange tone, the comedy that doesn't always land, the nostalgia callbacks, the “He-Man” name problem, the 1987 Dolph Lundgren version, the She-Ra tease, and why Skeletor is easily the best thing in the movie. Plus: Jared Leto, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Battle Cat asking for consent, Ram Man, Fisto, Brian May guitars, toy-commercial cynicism, masculine legacy confusion, and whether hardcore Masters of the Universe fans will have a better time than we did. Jeff breaks down why so much of today's “longer, faster, lower‑spin” equipment is built for people who swing 115 mph and have personal trainers, not for the senior golfer who just wants the ball to get up, go forward, and not disappear into the right rough. He shares real stories from his slower‑swing students and the gear that actually helped them hit better shots without needing a physics degree or a new chiropractor. The guys dig into wedges that make life easier instead of harder — Wilson Harmonize, Cleveland CRS‑X, Callaway Sure A+2 — the kind of clubs that don't care about your ego, just your scorecard. Then they talk golf balls, explaining why lower‑compression options like the Titleist TourSoft can give seniors more launch and carry, even if they don't spin like a tour ball around the greens. And honestly, if you're not delivering tour‑level speed, who cares. They wrap it all up with the most important lesson of the episode: Stop buying the logo. Start buying what works. Get fit, test gear, ignore the hype, and play equipment that matches your swing — not the guy on TV. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
