Mili Metz is thrilled to introduce Petra Garland who was born and raised in Slovenia, the only country with LOVE in its name. Petra moved to the US for love, to marry her Marine. She co-founded a social enterprise, Simbioza Genesis, which enables elderly Slovenians to gain computer skills and teaches them how to use smart phones. She has 8 years of experience in marketing, project management, and leadership. Petra completed her Bachelors degree in International Relations and her Masters in International Business. Currently, she is invested in digital marketing and discovering how to best present IT solutions to businesses. She loves discovering the world through travel and spends weekends outdoors, playing sports. Her next big challenge is learning to surf. As a peace building devotee studying Conflict Resolution and Coexistence at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, he seeks to aid societies in effectively managing diversity. Mili Metz is excited to introduce you to the first guest on Ask an American: Immigrant Edition--Tahmina Watson--an incredible immigration attorney in Seattle, WA. Tahmina is a frequent speaker, blogger, author and host of Tahmina Talks Immigration, a talk show that used to air on Desi 1250am in Seattle and is currently a podcast on Apple Podcasts. She advises organizations and non-profit organizations on immigration policy issues, sometimes even law and policymakers. She is an Adjunct Fellow at The Niskanen Center, a Washington DC-based think tank, where she advises on immigration policy issues. Tahmina often provides free legal advice at local legal clinics. She is an active volunteer for Chaya, a Seattle based non-profit organization that assists battered South Asian women. She speaks, reads, writes (and sings when playing her harmonium) Bengali fluently; she also gets by with conversational Hindi and Urdu.
