Author and Blogger, regularly quoted and published in the media, Author of the Startup Visa and legal Heroes. Also founded a non-profit called WIDEN to train and mentor lawyers to help detained immigrants. Co-founder of Airport Lawyer that provided critical help during the travel ban crisis. On today's podcast, we will be chatting about "What Visas are available to expats pilots wanting to work in the USA" A very warm Welcome to the podcast Tahmina Watson Tahmina answers some of the questions asked below during the podcast or answers questions as part of the conversation. The conversation between Tahmina and David discuss a number of airlines throughout the podcast. The Wellbeing and Career World podcast and guest Tahmina Watson have no association with any of the Airlines or Individuals mentioned within those Airlines. 1)I gave a brief introduction about your background, Can you let our listeners know more about your background? 2) Tahmina, there are so many articles in the news and social media informing of a Pilot shortage in the USA and how airlines are helping expats pilots obtain Visas to work in the USA. Is it so easy what these reports are saying? 3) I want to first ask you about the E3 Visa. There is an article from Business insider about Australian expat pilots having an opportunity to work for Breeze Airways, that article mentions "Australian pilots will be able to work as Breeze pilots under the E-3 work visa program in a little-used but not unprecedented solution to the pilot shortage. Skilled Australian nationals can apply to legally work in the US and regional airlines including CommutAir and ExpressJet Airlines have used the program to recruit pilots from the country. "It's an opportunity to give good, hardworking, well-qualified folks jobs who want to live in the US [and] want to be a pilot for a US airline," Owens said. 4) Are there any Visas available to unemployed/ex-pat pilots to gain access to employment in the USA? 5)Are these Visas expensive and what is the time span from application to setting foot in the USA for work?6) If the reported pilot shortage in the USA is fact, then why not make it easier for expat pilots to obtain a visa from all countries.? 7) What are the first steps do you recommend to a pilot wanting to obtain a visa in the USA? 8) I have some questions sent in from Pilots looking for more information: Which are the effective operational limits to the NIW EB-2 visa ?Is it possible to obtain any visa without any sponsor? Will my application cost large amounts of money? Is it possible a special unit can be formed by the USA immigration office only for pilots that could help solve the Reported pilot shortage and reported transportation issues . If i get a visa, is it permanent or renewable? If i obtain a visa, can i apply for permanent residency? 9) Is it worth contacting airlines to ask them about possible opportunities for ex-pats? 10) What about the financial status of the pilot, for example: is proof of savings and being able to support oneself criteria of the application? Question 11) Is there anything else I may have missed out which you feel is important to share? 12) Where can listeners find you on social media? There are some 600,000 so-called “dreamers” in this country and many more waiting to obtain that special status currently afforded the children of illegal immigrants, brought to the U.S., often as infants, and who Donald Trump tried to send back to the country of their birth. The Biden administration has just announced a new rule to protect those recipients of protection under the 2012 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, or DACA.Reacting to a decision by federal district judge Andrew Hanen in Texas in July, which ruled that the (DACA) policy violated federal law, the Department of Homeland Security said its new rule will "preserve and fortify" the DACA program by addressing objections to how it was implemented.Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas urged Congress to include immigration reform in the reconciliation bill currently being debated and "provide the Dreamers the legal status they need and deserve."The Texas federal district court ruling left the program's benefits intact for DACA recipients who have been unable to obtain legal status after being brought to the U.S. as children, but it blocked future applications by some 50,000 young immigrants who need the protection. The Biden administration has appealed that decision as it seeks a pathway to citizen for Dreamers in Congress.Today we're speaking with Tahmina Watson, a Seattle-based immigration attorney whose law firm focuses exclusively on U.S. immigration and naturalization law.Tahmina is an experienced and passionate attorney who focuses on employment-based, family-based and investor immigration law. Have you ever worked really, really hard at something and still end up not succeeding? When and how did you decide to change directions? In this episode, our guest worked her tail off to became a “barrister” aka a lawyer in the UK. She failed along the way, a lot. Once she fell in love and moved to the US with her husband, she had to become a lawyer all over again to meet US criteria. She worked toward a goal that she THOUGHT she wanted, like many of us do, only to realize that the universe was pulling her in a different direction.Tahmina Watson is the Founder of Watson Immigration Law with expertise in business, investor and family-based immigration. She's the Author of "The Startup Visa: Key to Job Growth and Economic Prosperity in America." Tahmina is a passionate advocate for immigration reform, the Mother of two little girls, and is the founder and co-founder of multiple non-profit foundations. During our conversation, we talk about working hard (like really hard) toward a dream that Tahmina thought she wanted and struggled along the way. With her eye on the prize, she learned more about her values and purpose along her journey. She eventually found her true career calling and passion in an area of law that she had been resisting for a long time. In this episode, we talk about:When you have a set idea, but you don't work toward it happily, you won't project the best version of yourself. The key to finding your purpose is to be authentic and honest with yourself.Be open to what the universe is revealing to you, the door could be opening to your purpose.Learn more about Tahmina below:Website: Watson Immigration LawLinkedInPodcast: Tahmina Talks ImmigrationBook: The Startup Visa: Key to Job Growth & Economic Prosperity in AmericaBook: Legal Heroes in the Trump Era

Hello everyone and welcome to A Pretty Normal Podcast, a show that re-imagines what society considers normal. She's also the host of the podcast, Tahmina Talks Immigration and an author and blogger. Tahmina is making a huge impact on protecting immigrant rights and lives and breathes immigration. In our conversation she shares why immigration became such a passion for her. Tahmina has been on the other side of the legal process and understands the long and complicated process immigrants go through. We also spoke about how immigration has changed and even become more difficult and expensive. It may have slipped under the radar for many Americans, however not too long ago, United States Citizenship and Immigration Service also known as USCIS, was at risk of completely grinding to a halt. The agency had announced that without more money from congress, they would have to furlough 13,400 employees. Tahmina breaks down that situation and what ultimately happened. If in Washington State, we hope you will watch the play! Tickets can be purchased at www.sincerelyamerica.bpt.me. Listen to this podcast to learn more! Sincerely, America is inspired by the immigrant experience in an effort to create empathy and understanding for each other by reaching into the past to see the history of our community. The first play of the production, American Dreams, a play by Linda Britt and directed by Ellen Peters, focuses on the immigrant experience in the U.S., an experience which varies widely depending on country of origin, race, religion, age, and location allowing the characters to focus on the aspect of their story that is most meaningful to them. The second play of the production, The Art of Remembering, a play by Adina L.
