    Great lineup this week, as author, and official Major League Baseball historian, John Thorn stops by to chat about his newest book "Baseball in the Garden of Eden." during the SABR Seventh Inning Stretch. Also on the program, former White Sox, In addition to authoring several books, Thorn has also worked with Ken Burns on his "Baseball" documentary, while also discovering the documentation that traced the origins of baseball to Pittsfield, Mass. Thorn was also recently named by Bud Selig as MLB's official historian. And, in his first act in his new role, Thorn will be the chairman of the Baseball Origins Committee. The committee is made up of 12 experts and historians that will seek to determine the facts of baseball's beginnings and its evolution. Following the study, they will seek to tell the full story of the game as well as its development in local communities. Robin Ventura, whose NCAA hit streak (58 games) was just challenged – but ultimately stood the test of time. Robin – called by Bill James as statistically the best third baseman of the ‘90s – can comment on how hard it is at any level to keep that consistency at the plate; the trend of more college players on MLB team rosters; as well as discuss his old team, the White Sox, and the addition of Adam Dunn, a hitter in his own mold. FYI: Robin is touring on behalf of the Capital One Cup, which honors the country’s top mens – and womens – collegiate programs across 13 different sports, honoring the winning schools with $200,000, money earmarked for athletes looking to go on to graduate school. A standout at OSU, Robin – as you know – is considered among the best college players of all time.
