News & NotesIt was a tough week for a couple of fantasy managers as Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández and Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez led the list of names sent to the injured list. Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras broke his finger, but is just going to play through it.San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill highlights the list of players returning from the IL this week.A handful of prospects earned their MLB debuts this week, while Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter returned to the big leagues after starting the season in AAA.The Texas Rangers have made a change at their hitting coach while the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates are moving on from their managers. Hosts: Brett Ford | Scott ChuScott's Top 150 Hitters ListPlate discipline and decision-making take center stage as both Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz and Chicago White Sox Luis Robert Jr. have showed marked improvement at the plate, maintaining their incredibly high ceilings while bringing up their floors – and their rankings. Get Torked, nerds! Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelsonalong with position rivals Tyler Soderstrom and Ben Rice rise in the ranks as they display that even their cold streaks are palatable. How good can Maikel Garcia be? And if Scott says Michael Busch is falling, that should probably be a red flag. Join: PL+ | PL ProProud member of the Pitcher List Podcast Network

Fantasy Baseball Live – May 11, 2025 – 3:00 pmSegments 1 and 2 – Review of the weekend gamesMicrosoft Teams:Additional Questions:1.Are the Padres this good, or are the Rockies this bad? They lost 13-9 on Friday, 21-0 on Saturday, and we shouldn't forget about the doubleheader loss to the Tigers on Thursday (21-3). The Rockies' run differential is -134, having nearly lapped the second-worst run differential in the league, the Baltimore Orioles. 2.Corbin Burnes shoved against the Dodgers on Saturday. Good to see.3.Cade Horton wins his first game as the bulk innings guy. Were you happy with what you saw?4.Ranger Suarez looked great in his second outing, but It was against the Guardians. He has Pittsburgh next Friday. Are you starting him?a.Lance McCullers was awful yesterday. I started him against the White Sox and danced with the devil, but not yesterday. Should I be done with him or keep him on my bench for a while? His sinker (fastball) is down to 91.6 MPH, and while his slider is still missing bats, it got destroyed, as did his change-up.5.Casey Mize hits the IL with a hamstring strain. This one hurt for me as I have him in a number of leagues. Assuming a short IL stint, I still look at the matchup before starting him, but he has yet to have a blow up. Should I start him with confidence going forward?6.Jasson Dominguez had three home runs on Friday. Judge with two more home runs on Saturday and is now leading the league with 14 and batting average (.396). Just a ridiculous start to the season.Segment 3 – Waiver WireSegment 4 – Closer ReportClose

I know I'm struggling. I have excellent teams in a couple of leagues, but my closers suck or are hurt. Last Sunday, I spent a fortune on Will Vest in Detroit as it looked like he had the job. Now, maybe he doesn't.a.What's your advice for me and others who are struggling?b.Should managers go for the hot potential closer like Vest or instead spend less on setup guys?2.Potential young breakout pitchers. Who are you buying? We will talk about each and then I'll have you order them in how you like them for the rest of the season and then their careers?a.Brandon Pfaadt (AZ, age=26, rank=18) – 6 GS, 5 wins, 2.78 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 29Ks/4BB in 35.2 IPb.Jesus Luzardo (PHI, 27, 15) – 6 GS, 3 wins, 1.73 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 41K/10BB in 36.1 IPc.McKenzie Gore (Was, 26, 26) – 7 GS, 2 wins, 3.51 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 59K/9BB in 41 IPd.Max Meyer (Mia, 26, 37) – 6 GS, 2 wins, 3.18 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 47K/11BB in 34 IPe.Casey Mize (Det, 28, 42) – 5 GS, 4 wins, 2.12 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 23K/7BB in 29.2 IP3.Potential young breakout pitchers. Who are you buying? We will talk about each and then I'll have you order them in how you like them for the rest of the season and then their careers?a.Pete Crow Armstrong (CHC, 23, 10) - 6 HR, 12 SB, 23 runs, 21 RBI, .315 BAb.Tyler Soderstrom (ATH, 23, 50) – 9 HR, 1 SB, 20 runs, 24 RBI, .349 BAc.Spencer Torkelson (Det, 25, 65) – 8 HR, 1 SB, 20 runs, 24 RBI, .359 BAd.Wilyer Abreu (Bos, 25, 78) – 6 HR, 4 SB, 18 runs, 21 RBI, .295 BAe.Ben Rice (NYY, 26, 113) – 8 HR, 2 SB, 22 runs, 13 RBI, .266 BA4.In doing the research for the potential breakouts, two players caught my eye. What do you think about these two:a.JP Sears (ATH, 29, 33) – 6 GS, 4 wins, 2.94 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 30K/6BB in 33.2 IPb.Griffin Canning (NYM, 28, 40) – 6 GS, 4 wins, 2.61 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 31K/14BB in 31 IP5.Lance McCullers Jr (Remember him?) will make his 2025 debut on Sunday against the White Sox. I'm assuming you have to start him, but is there anything there with this kid or is it impossible to tell?a.Ranger Suarez also makes his debut on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Are you starting him?b.ROS – McCullers or Suarez?6.Over/Under gamea.Aaron Judge: AL MVP – more yes or nob.Oneil Cruz: 1st round pick in 2026 – more yes or noc.Corbin Carroll: 25-25 seasond.Kyle Manzardo: 30 HRse.MacKenzie Gore: 200 strikeouts – 11 were over 200 in 20247.What hitter are you targeting for this week's FAAB?8.What pitcher are you targeting for this week's FAAB?
