With Pharoah and his army defeated, God's people celebrate and then start their wilderness journey. Things get tough but with God's provision, they will survive. Exodus 15-16

With one final display of power, God rescues the people of Israel from Egypt. The people flee and pass through the sea to escape from the pursuing army. Exodus 11-14

You know what this story needs more of? METAL! Moses and Aaron go back to Pharoh with some sweet shredding skills and with miraculous power. Rock on! Exodus 7 - 10

Armed with some stunts from God (including the name of God) and with their squad gathered around them, Moses and Aaron go to meet with Pharaoh. Exodus 4-6

After running from Egypt, God calls Moses in the wilderness to go back and lead his people out of slavery. Besides the burning bush, it takes a couple of deeds of power to persuade him to go through with it. Exodus 3

A new Pharoh has come to power who didn't know Joeseph and really doesn't like these Hebrew people. One boy, because of the actions of some courageous women, is saved in an unlikely way by an unlikely person connected to the ruling power. Exodus 1-2

We come now to the end of our journey through Genesis. Jacob is reunited with Joseph, blesses his sons and the family of Israel settles into Egypt. Both Jacob and Joseph die in Egypt after a good long life, as the book wraps up and we prepare to move into Exodus. Genesis 46-50

The sons of Israel have to go back and face Pharoh's manager again. They're out of food and they have to get Simeon back. After toying with his brothers some more, including showing them great hospitality, Joseph reveals that it's been him the whole time. Genesis 43-45

The famine has hit and without their favorite manager Joseph's family is suffering. They follow the rumors to Egypt and come face to face with the mysterious manager of Pharaoh. Genesis 42

Joseph gets called up after 2 years of being forgotten when Pharaoh has some spooky dreams. When Joseph interprets them wisely he's given a promotion. Genesis 41

Joseph finds himself on the up and up in Egypt serving as a slave. Everything is fine until his master's wife tries to get what she can't have and Joseph pays the price for it. Even in jail the dude is supremely blessed. Genesis 39-40

We take a break from the Joseph narrative this week for the soap opera story of Judah and Tamar. Strap in for a story that has love, death, trickery, babies, twists and turns. Genesis 38

Joseph takes center stage! The baby of the 12 sons of Jacob, a megalomaniac given a management position over his brothers, a fancy new outfit and a propensity for interesting dreams: all this is a recipe for getting left in the wilderness somewhere. Genesis 37

We're between major stories on our journey, but because we're Besties no Bible gets left behind! A couple of short stories during this intermission and then it's on to Joseph. Genesis 35 & 36

A gritty story of what happened to Jacob's daughter, Dinah, in a foreign land and her brothers way of making it right. CW: Sexual Assault and Violence Genesis 34

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! The showdown we've all been waiting for. Brother battles brother in a cage match to determine the fate of the Abrahamic blessing. Before the big fight happens a stranger comes to test Jacob's mettle and gives him a new name. Genesis 32-33

After Jacob gives him the slip, Laban gathers up a party to go and catch up with the runaways. Laban is looking to get back what he truly loves. When he doesn't find them Jacob tells him off with a inspired soliloquy. Genesis 31:22-55

Now that Jacob is drowning in a sea of babies it's time to move on. He wants to settle up with Laban, who has one last trick up his sleeve. Little does Laban know that Jacob still lives up to his name. Rachel and Leah get back at their dad in their own way too. Genesis 30:25-31:21

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE! The sisters go for it in the attempt to show that they have God's favor and the favor of their husband, Jacob. They pull out all the tactics including one play from the historical playbook. Get ready for a wave of babies! Genesis 29:31- 30:24

After working 7 years for Laban, the time has come...for Laban to pull a fast one on Jacob after throwing a huge barn burner. The trickster gets a con pulled on him in the name of tradition. Genesis 29: 21-30

Jacob sets up camp on the way to Laban's where he encounters God and hears a new verse to the song of promise. Jacob arrives at Laban's with some smoochin. Genesis 28:10-29:20

Esau finds out that Jacob has tricked their father, so he does what any of us might do. He gets really angry and writes show tune parodies. Rebekah wants to protect Jacob so she sends him to Laban. Genesis 27:30- 28:9

Deception abounds in these stories where Isaac runs the same playbook his old man did. Then Jacob pulls a fast one on his dad with the help of his mom and some tasty lamb. Genesis 26-27:1-29

Abraham's part of the story comes to an end as a new part begins with twin brothers Jacob and Esau. Genesis 24:29 - 25:34

We lose one of our main characters and Abraham, facing his own mortality, starts to get everything in order. That includes finding a wife for Isaac. Genesis 23-24: 1-28

God tests Abraham by suggesting that he offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice. Not going to lie. This story is pretty bonkers. Genesis 22

We take a break this week from Genesis this week in preparation for Christmas to bring you a well beloved tale. Enjoy!

Abraham shows up in a new area and pulls the same con. Soon after Isaac is born and Haggar and Ishmael are sent away. It all sounds pretty familiar. Genesis 20-21

Three visitors come to Abraham's tent and then on into the city of Sodom and Gomorrah to shut it down. Warning: Some pretty gross content but hey! It's the Bible... Genesis 18-19

After 13 years of radio silence God is back and has a couple new signs of the covenant. One is a name change. The other is a physical challenge. Genesis 17

Abram and Sarai run into a tough spot with the covenant from their end so they take matters into their own hands, which only makes things more complicated. Genesis 16

Abram's worried about the future and God coming through on the promises so God takes it to the next level. Genesis 15

Too many people and not enough room forces Abram and Lot to go their separate ways. A war and Lot's capture brings out Abram's particular set of skills. Genesis 13 - 14

God talks to a man name Abram and a new journey begins. Genesis 12

The people of the world get together on a building project to show off how great they are. Genesis 11: 1 - 9

After getting off the boat Noah plants a vineyard and tries the fruit of his labor. Genesis 9: 18 - 10

God tells Noah and his sons to build a zoo-boat to save themselves and the animals. Genesis 6 - 9: 17

Two brothers bring their offerings to God. One finds favor and the other doesn't, which doesn't end well. Genesis 4 - 5

God creates the world, some human buddies and then they try to be like God. Genesis 1 - 3
