Pleasure was a part of God’s plan, and sex and romance are crucial parts of marriage. They are for our enjoyment now, and they also point to the wonderful intimacy that is to come in Christ Jesus.
Marriage at its core is friendship: a constant and close, truthful and compassionate friendship that is devoted to growth of the spouses holiness. This is the primary devoted friendship of life, every other friendship is subordinate, even children and parents.
The purpose and meanings of the gendered difference that makes marriage beautiful, sex spiritual, and life fruitful. Part 2
The purpose and meanings of the gendered difference that makes marriage beautiful, sex spiritual, and life fruitful. Part 1
The Holy Spirit is the supernatural power that you have to have filling you and your marraige. You are called to love a flawed person whit a love that you do not naturally possess. Marriage is a covenant container that commits you for life and provides the permanence that lets you open up and still be loved.
The visible design of marriage is a model and pointer to the gospel of Jesus Christ and gives us an experience that wets our appetite to have the spouse we are created eternally for.
Jesus is the first citizen of the new supernatural world. Revelation gives us a picture of a supernatural world, not an anti natural world. Cities, the result of the human process of cultivation is renewed and beautified by Him. Jesus prepares for us the city that Adam should have built and gifts it to us, His bride. All the best of human culture is brought into the city. This should fill our minds as we turn the page on a new year. This is the day that all things will really be made new.
For Mary, a miracle breaks in and seems to interrupt the natural course of her lives. But, we do not really know what God is doing in our lives as part of His super-natural order of where He is taking things. How this day needs to go according to His story, His plan and what He is making. This means His hand over our lives can be a painful thing, bringing things into our lives we would never choose, in order to bring about the good and Glory that will be seen only by “walking backwards into the future.”
Jesus is the second person of the trinity, the Word. Through Him and for Him all things were made. His miracles demonstrate not “raw power”, but specific power, they are signs. He is and has always been running the whole show.... the God of all wine at Cana, The God of all harvest and all fish, The God of all healing, the God over death. He is not just a King, not just the King, He is “Her King”.
Herod hears that someone has come from outside his power, threatening his power, in order to eliminate the threat, kills everything close to the age of Jesus. In our age of naturalism we can accept that either nature is the “whole show” and nothing outside of the material world exists, or modern man can live with Nature itself being divine. But the more we look, the more we see that nature signals something beyond her, and even signals about that man.
The generation of people, the process of human life, the natural course of events, instead of working against the supernatural are the very processes that usher Him in. Since nature is His - it of course prepares the way for Him. Super natural is not anti-natural. The natural process (the same old things under the sun) are under His controlling hand, building up until the situation is just right, and according to His divine plan, perfectly ripe for something new. Nothing is wasted.
What if you went to the mailbox and found a letter? The letter was from a trusted friend and on the back of the envelope, it read: "This letter will tell you what you need to know to fully enjoy your new relationship with me. Love, God." Would you open it? We have just that letter, from just that God, for just that purpose, in the letter of 1 John.
The problem is Misbelief - what do you believe?

Not emotionalism, and not building into an arena culture seeking experiences of God without repentance, obedience, holiness and awe. Deepening the fruits that come from revival - personal and corporate sanctification through accountability and sharing are experienced in our meetings, boldness and humility are seen in our personal evangelism, and the growth of passion and sacrifice in works of social concern - means the church is beautified by the gospel and real love and cultural renewal will be possible.
New hearts are filed deeper by new eyes, and seeing a real vision of God. This leads to deeper worship and devotion as we stare more intently into God’s trinity - to know fully what he has revealed about Himself. God loves to reveal more of Himself by revealing more of His 3 personed being.
Today we are joined by Pastor and Speaker Scott Slocum from Essex Alliance Church in Essex Vermont. Besides being the Senior pastor of his church, Scott serves on the board of directors for both the New England District and the National Office of our denomination - the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Pastor Jim Nicodem joins us this weekend from Christ Community Church just outside of Chicago in Illinois. Pastor Jim makes it clear - As Christians we need daily time in the word of God. the Bible cannot be neglected in the life of a vibrant believer.
Veering from orthodoxy is usually what causes decline, this comes from either False or distortions of key doctrines or by extreme commitment to marginal doctrines. Divisions and contentiousness / pride of leaders can quench a revival and revival of the gospel is almost always as a battle against idols.
