How many people in your life think of you as a blessing? In the Bible, God blessed Abraham so that Abraham would be a blessing to others. It's the same with us. God doesn't bless us just to make us happy. He blesses us so we can let His goodness flow through us to touch other people. Our actions are an advertisement of God to those around us. Let's not hold God's blessings tightly. Let's bless others and make the idea of God attractive to them.
God created you an original, don't die a copy. Break free from constantly comparing yourself to others and discover the unique person God created you to be. Pastor Jim exposes how comparison steals our joy . . . whether we're looking down at people who have less (which breeds pride) or looking up at people who have more (which kills gratitude). You'll learn practical ways to escape the comparison trap, focus on your own growth journey, and stop trying to be someone else. This encouraging message will help you run your own race with confidence and become more like Jesus from right where you are today!
Welcome to The Expound Sessions, a special teaching series recorded live at the Expound Conference. Each session is designed to sharpen preachers, strengthen churches, and deepen your confidence in the Word of God..
In this timely and unflinching message, “Covenants That Cannot Be Canceled," Pastor Jim begins Romans 9 by addressing one of the most misunderstood and controversial topics in the Church today: God's covenant with Israel. As global tensions rise and antisemitism increases across political, cultural, and even Christian spaces, this teaching grounds believers in Scripture, history, and the unchanging faithfulness of God.Pastor Jim walks us through Romans 8 and 9 to remind us that in Christ there is no condemnation, no guilty verdict, and no separation from God's love. From there, he tackles the hard question Paul raises: If God is faithful to save and secure us in Christ, what about Israel, God's chosen people? Have they been rejected, replaced, or forgotten? With depth and clarity, this message explores:Why replacement theology is dangerous and historically destructive The unconditional nature of the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants God's ongoing promises to Israel and how they impact our faith today Why misunderstanding these covenants puts our own salvation confidence at risk How Scripture, prophecy, and history align—past, present, and futureThis is not just a theological lesson, it's a call to be spiritually grounded in an age of deception, cultural pressure, and biblical confusion. Romans 9 reminds us that God does not break His Word. If He did, none of us would be secure. Our Links–• Join The Prayer Movement!: https://theprayermovement.com• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingwordmn• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/livingwordmn• Stay up to date with all things LWCC at https://www.LWCC.org• Join our Online Church community here: https://www.lwcc.org/onlinechurch• Give online: https://www.lwcc.org/give/• If you recently committed your life to God, we'd like to give you a free eBook to help you in your spiritual journey. In this final message of the Rejoice series, Pastor Jim teaches from Luke 2 and explores the angelic announcement to the shepherds, showing how the glory of God should evoke great fear—yet through Jesus, that fear gives way to great joy and peace on earth. He reminds us that God's holiness is overwhelming and unapproachable, like lightning that should consume us, but in Jesus, that immense power is made near and safe, wrapped in flesh and laid in a manger. Jim challenges listeners not to grow numb to the miracle of God's presence, but to respond with awe, rejoicing, and renewed peace. Just as the shepherds were invited into joy and Mary treasured all these things in her heart, we are invited to behold the Savior, prepare room for Him, and let our hearts melt before the one who brings peace to those on whom His favor rests.

To the shepherds He was a savior; to Herod He was a threat. If we take advantage of this yearly opportunity to peer into the Manger, we may see a Friend or a Foe bundled there in the swaddling clothes. It's imperative that we know His true identity, and His mission. Here's Pastor Jim with Part 2 of, The Reason for the Season. Pastor Jim teaches from Luke 2, where Simeon holds the infant Jesus in his arms and declares that the long-awaited Consolation of Israel has arrived. After years of righteous waiting in silence and spiritual devotion, Simeon recognizes that what he had been hoping for is not just a promise but a person. Jim draws a parallel between Simeon's patient longing and the hunger many of us feel for something more, challenging listeners to stop chasing after counterfeits and receive the peace that comes only through Jesus. Simeon's joy is found not in what Jesus would do someday, but in knowing that God was already here. This message invites us to stop striving and instead rest in the gift of God's faithfulness, freely given in Christ.
This Christmas sermon explores the profound hope found in Jesus Christ as the light that penetrates a world of pain and moral darkness. Drawing from the ancient prophecies of Isaiah and Psalm 110, the text highlights how the Messiah was foretold as both a sovereign King and a compassionate High Priest long before his birth. The speaker emphasizes that while humans often reach for insufficient comforts during times of crisis, Christ serves as a "sunrise" that offers a complete perspective on life's difficulties. By stepping down from his heavenly throne to experience human suffering, Jesus became an intercessor who sympathizes with our weaknesses and offers unmerited forgiveness. Ultimately, the source serves as an invitation to rely on this divine authority to navigate the complexities and "dark woods" of the human experience.Support the showThanks for listening! This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Psalm 149:1–9, calling God's people to praise Him with joy and to rejoice in their King. We talked about how this psalm connects to Christmas, when the King we celebrate came humbly into the world. The hymn “O Holy Night” reminds us that Christ's birth truly changed everything, calling hearts to worship and respond in joyful praise. Psalm 149 encourages us to lift our voices and live as people who belong to that King.Text: Psalm 149:1–9 Recorded: December 21, 2025

Pastor Jim teaches from Luke 1 and reflects on Zechariah's transformation from silence to rejoicing. After nine months of being unable to speak, Zechariah bursts out with a prophetic song proclaiming God's faithfulness—not because his situation is perfect, but because he sees that God has entered the story. Jim challenges us to consider what we are beholding this season and invites us to see solitude and silence not as punishment but preparation. Zechariah's praise points beyond his own miracle to the greater hope of Jesus, the one who leads us into peace. Through remembering God's promises and faithfulness to David, Abraham, and all of Israel, we are reminded that true joy flows from trusting the God who keeps His word and enters our lives with light in the midst of darkness.

Today we'll look at God's baby picture. It's a paradox, isn't it? The uncreated God had no beginning, but He gave Himself a human beginning. And that's what we celebrate at Christmas. Jesus is "the image of the invisible God," a kind of living photograph to bring the Transcendent One down into the realm of our senses. And He is much more, as we began to see yesterday in the first chapter of Colossians. Let's continue there, with Pastor Jim. Most churches participate in giving to support missions and missionaries, but in today's episode, we discuss why missions matter to every believer. We all play a role and bear responsibility for Jesus' great commission. So, how can people participate in missions and, as leaders, how can we inspire greater support? Pastor Jim shares about his personal passion for global missions and how he participates in what God is doing around the world.
There have been several great revivals and shifts in recent church history. Pastor Jim guides us in exploring how these moments have helped shape our church today.

Whether you're at a restaurant, the grocery store, or your workplace, you'll learn how to connect with people in authentic ways that earn the right to share the hope of Jesus Christ.
This past weekend, Pastor Jim taught a message about the first Christmas, when grace came through the birth of Jesus Christ: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Pastor Jim said, “This message about the first Christmas and the people involved is based on the loving kindness and tender mercies of God.” He talked about how there were certain people who had been praying and waiting for the prophesied Savior, and God's mercy allowed these people to be a witness in His birth—and their participation was forever documented! People can be very aggravating. It is only by the Holy Spirit working within us that we can avoid lashing out at others sometimes! Our lives are testimonies of the Lord—we'd better handle things well. The Bible says that it is to our glory to overlook an offense. We Christians don't pray for patience often enough. Let's pray for patience from the Holy Spirit so that we can glorify God when altercations arise.
Some people seem to be naturally wired to take risks. Others seem more naturally cautious and risk-averse. Is courage just a personality trait? The scriptures often call us to boldness and to take up difficult work, so how can we find the courage to take risks, and when does our risk-taking reflect a lack of wisdom? In Today's conversation, Pastor Jim explores the topic of courage and who he thinks about taking risks.
Only God can take a damaged past—heartbreak, substance abuse, adultery—and create a beautiful life. When we say yes to Jesus by accepting His gift of salvation and following Him every day, He turns our lives around! No matter how far down we go, Jesus can always bring us back to glory. What does God want to do in your life? Will you say yes to Him today?
Would your community miss you tomorrow if your church closed its doors today? Ready to discover your true identity and purpose? Pastor Jim delivers a life-changing message that will revolutionize how you see yourself and your role in God's kingdom. Learn why YOU are the church, not the building, and discover 15 practical outreach principles that will help you make your one life count for eternity. This passionate message challenges all believers to stop confining their faith to Sunday services and start being the hands and feet of Jesus in their everyday world. If you've ever wondered whether your life truly matters, this message will ignite a fire in your heart to touch your community with the life-changing hope of the gospel.
This past weekend, Pastor Jim picked up where he last left off in his “Grace Unveiled” series. His message was based on Romans 8:31–32: “What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” (Amp.) The focus was on the fact that God did not withhold or spare His own Son, Jesus, but gave Him up for us. And then this is the key: “…will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” The point of the message is that the promises of God are free! Some believers say, “I'm a tither, I pray in tongues every day, I go to every service, I do this, I do that…” They're trying to earn the promises of God. They can't be earned. The Father wants you to understand that the promises in the Bible are simply free, but you have to believe they are yours. And you must use your faith to get them! You can't earn them. This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Psalm 147:1–20 with a special focus on the Christmas season. We talked about the hymn “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and how it echoes the heart of Psalm 147. The angels announced the arrival of Jesus the One who brings peace, restores what is broken, and reveals God's glory in the most unexpected way. Just as the psalm calls us to praise the Lord for His power and tenderness, Christmas invites us to lift our voices in worship for the Savior who came near.Text: Psalm 147:1–20Recorded: December 7, 2025

What Christmas MeansSupport the show
In his sermon "Called to the Wall" from Nehemiah 2:17-18, Pastor Jim powerfully challenges the church to hear and respond to the desperate cry of "Someone help us!" that echoes from broken lives all around—from persecuted believers and unreached tribes to struggling neighbors and those battling illness or identity confusion. Drawing from Nehemiah's example, he shows how a holy calling begins not with strategy or resources, but with tears and sorrow over people living in disgrace because the protective "walls" of God's presence and purpose lie in ruins. Pastor Jim urges believers to let those tears soften their hearts, reject anger and blame, and say a resolute "Let us rise up and build!"—knowing that opposition will come the moment gaps begin to close, yet God's covenant promises and prospering power far outweigh every mocking voice. Ultimately, the sermon is a stirring call for every person in the room to return to the wall, take their assigned place alongside their family, and partner with Jesus in rebuilding lives so that disgrace is replaced with the salvation, praise, and restored dwelling place only God's grace can bring.
Pastor Jim teaches from Luke 1 and reflects on Mary's song, the Magnificat, as a model for anchoring ourselves in God's faithfulness during seasons of waiting. Mary, a young and lowly servant with no status or power, responds to a life-altering calling not with fear but with praise. Jim explains that her rejoicing comes from a clear understanding of who she is and who God has always been, the Mighty One who lifts up the humble, fills the hungry, and keeps His promises. Through this passage, Jim challenges us to recognize our own lowliness, resist the urge to grasp for control, and magnify the Lord by grounding our lives in the gospel. In a world that encourages power and self-sufficiency, Mary's song invites us to rejoice, trusting that God is still at work in our waiting.
We all need a Samuel experience. Remember Samuel from the Bible? When God called him as a young child, Samuel said, “Speak, Lord.” All Israel's history was changed because a little boy received a word from the Lord. Let's pray to have open hearts to whatever God wants us to hear! Our lives can be radically changed by a few powerful words if they're from the Lord. He's speaking today. Are we listening?
