What Christmas MeansSupport the show
In his sermon "Called to the Wall" from Nehemiah 2:17-18, Pastor Jim powerfully challenges the church to hear and respond to the desperate cry of "Someone help us!" that echoes from broken lives all around—from persecuted believers and unreached tribes to struggling neighbors and those battling illness or identity confusion. Drawing from Nehemiah's example, he shows how a holy calling begins not with strategy or resources, but with tears and sorrow over people living in disgrace because the protective "walls" of God's presence and purpose lie in ruins. Pastor Jim urges believers to let those tears soften their hearts, reject anger and blame, and say a resolute "Let us rise up and build!"—knowing that opposition will come the moment gaps begin to close, yet God's covenant promises and prospering power far outweigh every mocking voice. Ultimately, the sermon is a stirring call for every person in the room to return to the wall, take their assigned place alongside their family, and partner with Jesus in rebuilding lives so that disgrace is replaced with the salvation, praise, and restored dwelling place only God's grace can bring.
We all need a Samuel experience. Remember Samuel from the Bible? When God called him as a young child, Samuel said, “Speak, Lord.” All Israel's history was changed because a little boy received a word from the Lord. Let's pray to have open hearts to whatever God wants us to hear! Our lives can be radically changed by a few powerful words if they're from the Lord. He's speaking today. Are we listening?
Pastor Jim guides us through how the church went from one unified gathering to the various denominations we see today.
This week, in our "Journey Through Scripture" series, Pastor Jim Ellis examined the command in 1 Corinthians 11:1: "Imitate me, as I imitate Christ." This was presented as a direct calling for every believer to become a living, imitatable example of the Jesus we follow. Pastor Jim challenged us with essential questions: Is your life accessible and worthy of emulation? And what happens to the next generation if we don't intentionally disciple them? Listen to discover how to model Christ's love and influence those who are learning from you. #BCC #Gospel #JourneyThroughScripture #ReadBible #Unity #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #JimEllis #BiblicalTruth #BCCBismarck #ImitateChrist #LiveALifeWorthImitating #Discipleship #NextGeneration #ImitatableExample #WalkTheTalkSupport the showFind out more about us at BismarckCC.org. We tend to think that greatness comes by pushing our way to the top. But God's way are upside down from ours—He tells us that if we want to be lifted up, we need to humble ourselves. How can we be full of pride when Jesus went down to the cross for us? Through His grace and humility, God brought Him up to glory. Let's be humble today—and be more like Jesus.

This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Psalm 65:1–13, a beautiful picture of God's goodness that ties perfectly into the heart of Thanksgiving. The psalm reminds us that all our praise belongs to God—not just for what He does, but for who He is. He forgives us, hears our prayers, and invites us into His presence.Text: Psalm 65:1–13 Recorded: November 30, 2025

We are guaranteed hardships in our Christian lives. Friends will hurt and betray us—it happened to Jesus and Paul! We need to have spiritual maturity during trials. Obstacles in life don't mean God has abandoned us. He will always walk through the hard times with us, and He provides earthly friends to support us, too. Thank the Lord for His faithfulness and for godly friends!
Ready to rise to a higher level of love? In this powerful message, Pastor Jim challenges us to love like our Heavenly Father . . . which means loving our enemies, blessing those who curse us, and doing good to those who hurt us. This isn't easy, surface-level Christianity; it's a mature call to respond with divine goodness even when others come against you. You'll discover why trusting God to handle justice actually frees you to walk in love, and how overcoming evil with good makes you more than a conqueror. If you've ever struggled with how to respond when people wrong you, this message will shift your perspective and give you the biblical tools to walk in victorious, supernatural love.
This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Hebrews 13:1–25, where the writer closes the letter with practical ways to live out our faith every day. We're reminded to love one another, care for those in need, honor marriage, and keep our lives free from the love of money by trusting that God will never leave or forsake us. The passage also encourages us to follow godly leaders, offer our lives as a continual sacrifice of praise, and do good whenever we can.Text: Hebrews 13:1–25Recorded: November 23, 2025

Pastor Jim teaches from Colossians 4 and calls us to live wisely in how we interact with outsiders, those not yet in the family of God. He reminds us that wisdom means applying gospel understanding to everyday life, and that our lives should reflect the goodness and grace of Jesus in both our actions and our words. Jim challenges listeners to redeem the ordinary moments of each day, to view others not as enemies or interruptions but as potential brothers and sisters in Christ, and to let their speech be seasoned with grace so the gospel is made tangible through conversation. Whether proactively creating environments of kindness or reacting with gentleness to opposition, Jim urges the church to see themselves as sent ones whose lives point to the table of God. When we live like this, we reflect the aroma of the gospel and bring glory to the One who brought us in when we were outsiders too.
Pastor Jim reflects on the story of the ten lepers to emphasize the beauty and importance of genuine gratitude. He highlights how only one healed man — a Samaritan — returned to thank Jesus, demonstrating a heart transformed by reflection, recognition, humility, and praise. Pastor Jim encourages believers to practice intentional gratitude, turning their pain into praise and expressing thanks to God and others, and reminds us that salvation through Christ is the greatest reason for thanksgiving.

We Christians often hear that the Holy Spirit lives inside of us, but He doesn't want to just stay there! If we submit to Him, the Holy Spirit manifests Himself through our words and actions so that others can see Jesus in us. When we allow the Holy Spirit to work this way, we reflect the power of a living God. Let's pray for the Holy Spirit to manifest Himself in our lives. He will do things beyond our imaginations!
All disasters start with little things—a disagreement, a slip-up, an ego. There are always repercussions to our actions! Samson saw this a woman he never should have been with led him to break his covenant with God. Every choice we make either draws us nearer to God or pushes us farther away. No matter how far we drift, God always helps us when we sincerely call on Him! Praise Him for His goodness!
Discerning the true signs and service of the end times. Discover the complete message Jesus intended for us about the end times in this powerful teaching on Matthew 24 and 25. While many focus solely on the dramatic signs and warnings of the last days, Pastor Jim reveals the often-overlooked second half of Jesus' message . . . the practical service and focus that should characterize our lives right now. Learn why being ready isn't just about watching for indicators, but about actively serving people, producing fruit for the kingdom, and making your life count for what truly matters. This message will shift your perspective from fear-based conspiracy thinking to purposeful, hope-filled living that impacts eternity.
"You're not just declared righteous, you're empowered to be righteous!" Believers here-and-now have the first chapter of our salvation mastered: Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. We stand clean before our holy God. But if we have PhDs in Justification, many of us are back in preschool on the subject of Sanctification. We're missing some knowledge on how to turn our right status into right actions. Pastor Jim is here to help us find that information. This past weekend, Pastor Jim presented us with “The List.” The List is comprised of 1st Corinthians 13:4–8, which is the love chapter and Galatians 5:22, which lists the fruit of the spirit. He said, “God expects us to love others like it's listed in these verses. It's a goal for us to achieve. And, really, this is how God loves us.”The Lord asked Pastor Jim to examine his life in comparison to the items on the lists to see how he stacks up, and then to use the outcome of the examination to bring about change where needed. After he went through the list, he asked the congregation, “When we went through those 22 things on the list, raise your hand if you felt any condemnation at all.” Many raised their hands. He said, “To those people who raised their hands, what that says is you do not completely believe or understand the cross, the resurrection, and what comes with it. If you think God is condemning you, you have no faith.”Our Links–• Join The Prayer Movement!: https://theprayermovement.com• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingwordmn• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/livingwordmn• Stay up to date with all things LWCC at https://www.LWCC.org• Join our Online Church community here: https://www.lwcc.org/onlinechurch• Give online: https://www.lwcc.org/give/• If you recently committed your life to God, we'd like to give you a free eBook to help you in your spiritual journey. This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Hebrews 12:18–29, where we're reminded of the incredible gift we have in Christ. Instead of approaching God with fear like Israel did at Mount Sinai, but a new one like Mount Zion. One marked by God's presence, His people, and the hope we have in Jesus. The passage urges us to pay attention to God's voice and hold tightly to the unshakable kingdom He's given us. Recorded: November 16, 2025
In this fourth part of our series, Pastor Jim guides us on a tour of how we came to have so many Bible translations, what the differences are between them as well as how to find the right study Bible for your particular needs.
The source is a podcast sermon delivered by a pastor named Jim West from ColonialKC, focusing on a passage from the Book of Genesis. Specifically, the message interprets the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1–9) as an illustration of humanity's sinful inclination toward self-promotion, self-protection, and the "idolatry of our own opinion." West argues that the people's desire to build a tower and a city was a direct act of disobedience to God's command to "fill the earth." The sermon then contrasts this human tendency with God's "merciful redirection," asserting that God confuses their language and disperses them for their own ultimate benefit, preventing them from corrupting themselves entirely. The pastor closes by urging the audience to trust God's will over their own judgment, citing Jesus's perfect obedience as the ultimate example.Support the showThanks for listening! Why Israel Matters | Pastor Jim Weaver | Refuge City ChurchSupport the show
Pastor Jim teaches from Ephesians 5 and calls listeners to live as children of light who redeem their days, know God's will, and walk in the Spirit. Jim explains that wisdom is more than knowledge or behavior; it is wanting what God wants and aligning our lives with His desires. He challenges listeners to see each moment as an opportunity to pull what is broken out of darkness and into the light, to discern God's moral will through Scripture, and to remain filled with the Spirit by soaking in the gospel. Rather than being swept along by culture or religious noise, Jim reminds us that wisdom grows as we walk with the Spirit in everyday choices, allowing God's light to shape how we live, love, and worship. When we root our lives in Christ, we not only see clearly but begin to reflect that light into the world around us.

We live in the information age. The internet is full of voices, advice, and increasingly theological teaching and commentary. Every day, we're forced to evaluate what is true and who is worth listening to. In our conversation today, Pastor Jim explores the necessity of believers learning to recognize false teaching and why, as leaders, it's one of our primary jobs.
