Typhoons are wildly turbulent—but underneath the storm is a peaceful stillness. In the same way, Christians face turmoil in the world every day, but we can live with peace in our hearts because of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. God dwells in peace. Any thought that brings agitation to our hearts and minds is the devil trying to rob us of peace—don't let him! To live with Jesus in our lives is to live with peace.
In this sermon, Pastor Jim shares with us the true spiritual rest that we now have in the salvation of Christ. Even if we stumble and fall into sin, we can find rest in what Jesus did on the cross for those who accept Him.
In this message from 2 Kings 9 and 10, Pastor Jim unpacks God's justice through the rise of Jehu and the downfall of Ahab's family. Even as chaos unfolds, the narrative reminds us that God is fully in control, bringing justice for idolatry, restoring peace, and defending the persecuted. Pastor Jim reflects on how idolatry still disrupts peace today and reminds listeners that God works despite human flaws. In the end, God is the true hero and the only source of lasting justice and hope.
Singleness: A Gift - YOU ARE HERE part 2- Pastor Jim Dahlke
This is a podcast from our Sunday morning service at Abundant Life Family Church in Dodge City, Kansas. Join us to listen to Dr. Jim Ames, Pastor and founder of Abundant Life Family Church.
Pastor Jim reads from Matthew 24, a roadmap of the last days, about the signs of the End Times. The panel discusses current global events from a biblical perspective, the spirit of rebellion in society, and the importance of forgiveness and praying for our current leaders.
How effective are your prayers? Jesus said that if we don't forgive those who have hurt us, our prayers will be hindered. God forgives our sins—and He also forgets them. If Jesus can completely wipe away our sins, can't we forgive others? Today let's bring that person or situation to God and see how it will clear the way to effective, powerful prayer.
Today we're discussing another listener's question. "How do you know when you're ready to be a lead pastor?" Pastoring requires a lot of responsibility and experience. Pastor Jim and I discuss our own transitions and what Pastor Jim has observed in others as they make that transition. We hope it offers some practical help to anyone seeking guidance on their next calling in ministry.
Where would we be if God didn't protect us from our own foolishness? Many of us have stories about things we did or places we went without seeking God first. But God is so patient and merciful—He blesses us even when we don't deserve it! Abraham, the father of faith, learned that firsthand, and we can too. If we've lapsed recently and fallen out of step with Him, let's get back in line. His ways are so much better than ours!
LOOK OUT! What you continually mind you'll eventually find. Pastor Jim Frease delivers a powerful and refreshingly humorous wake-up call about protecting your most precious relationships. In this candid message, he tackles one of the most challenging topics facing marriages today with such warmth, transparency, and joyful humor that you'll find yourself both laughing and deeply convicted. From eye-opening statistics about adultery to the "reclassification trap" that slowly conditions us to accept what we once rejected, this isn't your typical "don't do this" sermon - it's a loving, hope-filled roadmap for building marriages that last. Whether you're newlyweds, struggling in your relationship, or wanting to affair-proof your future, this message offers biblical wisdom wrapped in relatable humor and real-life stories from Pastor Jim's 34-year marriage. The bottom line: adultery doesn't begin in the bed - it begins in the head, but there's incredible hope when you know what to look out for. Perfect for couples to listen to together or anyone who wants to understand how small choices lead to life-changing consequences - plus, you'll find yourself genuinely laughing along the way!

This source presents a sermon on the biblical story of Cain and Abel. The speaker dissects Genesis 4, focusing on Cain's sin, God's judgment, and the subsequent mercy shown. Key themes explored include the corrupting nature of sin, symbolized by Cain's lack of remorse and his lie to God, and the concept of collective responsibility versus individualism. The sermon also highlights how the cry of Abel's blood demands justice, but ultimately emphasizes the "better word" of forgiveness offered through Jesus Christ, contrasting it with the vengeance associated with Abel's sacrifice.Support the showThanks for listening! The world around us is changing fast. Christians aren't called to live isolated from the world. We're supposed to be in the world but different from it. In our conversation today, Pastor Jim and I are exploring how to recognize the changing trends of culture and how, as Christians and pastors, we should engage the cultural questions of our day.
June 22, 2025 Lead Pastor Jim Baney by Basic Truth Church, Cygnet, Oh
We can be Christians yet not really be living. But Jesus said He came that we might have life—and life to the full! Sometimes we get so concerned with technology, AI, politics, and work that we forget to nurture our relationships with Christ. But we have been made alive in the Spirit of God! And God wants to commune with our spirits. We can have peace and joy when we embrace a life filled with Jesus!
The Call of the Culture VS. the Call of Christ In this powerful and challenging message, Pastor Jim explores the tension between two competing voices in our lives: the call of our self-centered culture and the call of Christ. Using Proverbs 9 as a foundation, he reveals how both wisdom and foolishness are calling out to us daily, each promising fulfillment but leading to vastly different destinations. Through compelling stories and biblical insight, this message exposes the subtle ways cultural messages like "live your best life now," "follow your heart," and "chase your dreams" can lead us away from God's purposes when they become self-focused rather than God-centered. This isn't just another sermon about avoiding worldliness—it's a practical roadmap for living differently. Pastor Jim contrasts six cultural calls with six corresponding calls of Christ, showing how humility triumphs over self-promotion, serving others beats self-service, and pursuing God's holiness brings more joy than chasing personal happiness. He challenges listeners to move beyond "just enough Jesus to bless our plans" to embracing "enough Jesus to change them," revealing how true fulfillment comes through selflessness rather than selfishness. Whether you're struggling with cultural pressures, seeking clarity on God's will for your life, or simply wanting to live with greater purpose, this message will inspire you to respond to Christ's call to "come in here and live." With humor, honesty, and biblical depth, Pastor Jim reminds us that in a world obsessed with selfies and self-promotion, the path to real life is found in denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Jesus. This is a message that will challenge your perspective and encourage you to make your one life count for eternity.
Have you ever been in a place in your life where you don't know how to pray or what to pray… where you don't have the words to express to God what you need from Him? It's a place in which all born again believers have found themselves. This is the subject matter Pastor Jim taught us in his 37th installment of his ongoing series on the book of Romans—“Grace Unveiled.” It is the Holy Spirit that makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered in articulate language. At a few moments in his life Elijah was overcome with negative thinking. To be sure, it was mostly an appropriate response to brutal hardship. However, many of us are prone to a more chronic, low-grade type of negativity. This weekend Dr. Jim Keck will speak about different personality types and the essential role our faith plays in creating a more joyful approach to life.

Pastor Jim explores the story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5, highlighting how God's mercy extends to even those perceived as outsiders or enemies. Through the humility of a young servant girl and Naaman's eventual surrender, we see that salvation comes not through power, wealth, or status, but through simple, obedient faith. Jim challenges listeners to lay down self-reliance and pride, receive God's free gift of grace, and become conduits of mercy, even toward those we consider enemies.
This sermon interprets Genesis 4, focusing on the story of Cain and Abel to illustrate human sin and God's mercy. It examines Eve's initial joy and high expectations for Cain, contrasting them with Abel's less celebrated birth. The speaker explains God's "regard" for Abel's offering was due to his heartfelt generosity and offering of "first and best," unlike Cain's resentful attitude. The sermon highlights Cain's subsequent anger as a "second temptation story" mirroring Adam and Eve's fall, emphasizing that unchecked anger and self-pity lead to greater sin, culminating in Abel's murder. Ultimately, the sermon serves as a cautionary tale about the destructive nature of sin and a call for confession, gratitude, and turning to God.Support the showThanks for listening! It's Gratitude Sunday! Join us as Pastor Jim shares the benefits of being grateful in his sermon “Give Gratitude Equal Time,” plus music from Karl and friends.
We all know the age-old question, “Is the glass half-empty or half-full?” As Christians, we can't hold to the glass being half-empty—that mindset shows a lack of thankfulness. We often commit a besetting sin of going to the next problem instead of taking time to thank God for anything. Why do we keep thinking about what we don't have? Let's thank God for what we do have!
In this week's message, Pastor Jim continues our Church Outside series with a bold reminder: “I am the church, but I'm not the church crowd.”Using Mark 2:1–5, we explore how the crowd in Scripture often got in the way of people trying to reach Jesus — and how we might be doing the same. Are we helping people find Him, or are we unknowingly blocking the way? This message will challenge you to:- Recognize the spirit of religion within “the crowd”- Embrace the access Jesus gave you — to let others in- Move from convenience to callingTear the roof off any system, mindset, or structure keeping people from JesusIf you've ever felt like you don't fit in the “church crowd,” this one's for you. We're not building walls — we're building bridges.
Lots of Christians think worship is following a liturgy. Others think it's loud singing or jumping up and down. But the Bible shows us what worship really is. Moses, David, the prophets, and ultimately Jesus taught us that worship is all about one thing: surrender to God in the face of His amazing love toward us.
Real faith builds real bonds. This weekend, Pastor Jim urges us to get off the sidelines and into the trenches—loving, encouraging, and walking with others—so we can celebrate together forever when Jesus returns. Pastor Jim walks through a series of Elisha's miracles in 2 Kings, revealing how God shows up not only in national crises but also in everyday needs. From multiplying oil for a widow, to reviving a child, to recovering a lost axe head, each story testifies to God's compassion and power in the lives of His faithful remnant. Jim encourages listeners to bring both their biggest fears and smallest concerns to God, trusting in Jesus, the greater Elisha, who meets us in the details with resurrection hope, daily provision, and steadfast love.
This sermon explores Genesis chapter 3, focusing on Adam and Eve's response to God's judgment, God's provision, and their banishment from the Garden of Eden. The speaker highlights Adam's act of faith in naming Eve "life" after hearing God's promise of a coming deliverer. The sermon then emphasizes God's "costly grace" in providing animal skin coverings, contrasting them with humanity's inadequate attempts at self-covering through good works or religious duties, and foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. Finally, the text explains the merciful banishment from the Garden, preventing Adam and Eve from an eternal life of corruption and setting the stage for God's plan of redemption through Christ.Support the showThanks for listening! "Why, Lord?!" That's what the prophet Habakkuk asked God when he saw the wicked overcoming the righteous. God didn't give him an easy answer—but He assured Habakkuk that He was in control and that He would put it all right in the end. When everything seems backwards and we can't see the upside, we need to get alone with God, like the prophet did. Keep believing! God is still on the throne, and His plan is still good.

God and Jesus are bigger than religion. That is, human hearts can be in love with God and Jesus even though they might not attend church. Religion is a human construct and is always evolving. On this Pentecost Sunday, Dr. Keck will speak of a new pentecost that is underway that is changing the very concept of religion itself.
