Can You Encourage Yourself | Pastor Jim Boyd | Refuge City ChurchSupport the show
This week, Pastor Jim takes us through Hebrews 9:1–28, where we see the contrast between the old covenant sacrifices and the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ. Earthly rituals could never fully remove sin, but Jesus, through His own blood, secured eternal redemption. He is the perfect mediator, offering us cleansing, forgiveness, and the promise of everlasting life.Text: Hebrews 9:1–28
Pastor Jim shares a moving message about the universal longing for belonging, drawing from the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19. Jim explores how Jesus invites outsiders into the family of God, offering acceptance before transformation. While the world often demands people change before they are welcomed, Jesus reverses this by seeing beyond brokenness and offering identity through relationship. Jim challenges listeners to consider where they find their worth, what false identities they chase, and whether their lives are pointing others toward Jesus. This message is a call to embrace God's invitation to belong and find true significance in Him.
This sermon centers on God's perception of humanity's hearts and the resulting divine grief over widespread corruption, as depicted in Genesis 6. The speaker emphasizes that God's standards of good and evil transcend human subjective feelings and cultural norms, asserting that God alone accurately judges the intentions of the heart. Despite overwhelming wickedness, the narrative highlights Noah finding favor (grace) with God due to his faith and obedience, offering a solitary point of hope amidst impending judgment. The sermon concludes by linking this ancient account to the modern need for repentance and faith in Jesus, who is presented as the ultimate absorber of God's just wrath against sin.Support the showThanks for listening! Life of David Week 5 | Pastor Jim Angelakos | Wednesday, September 10, 2025
Sometimes what seems logical is not actually best. Abraham found that out when he ran to Egypt during a famine and ended up in big trouble with the leader of the land! God has a perfect plan—and moving away from His will can send us into a spiral. But praise God, even when we wander, we can go back to where God wants us to be! His arms are always open to welcome us home.
September 7, 2025 Lead Pastor Jim Baney by Basic Truth Church, Cygnet, Oh
In this powerful continuation of the "Cultural Kids or Kids That Count" series, Pastor Jim delivers practical wisdom for raising children who can thrive in today's challenging culture, focusing on four essential gifts parents must give their children: a consistent Christian example that demonstrates integrity and stability (especially through strong marriages), unconditional love that accepts without affirming sin while providing truth and appropriate consequences, biblical wisdom that teaches children to ask "What does the Bible say?" when facing decisions, and genuine encouragement that builds character over performance. Through personal stories, biblical insights, and real-world applications, this message equips parents, grandparents, and anyone involved in shaping young lives with the tools to create resilient, faith-filled children who can navigate an increasingly difficult world while maintaining their Christian values and finding their identity in Christ rather than cultural approval.
After 38 years of ministry, Pastor Jim shares powerful lessons of faith, calling, and God's strength in our weakness. Be encouraged to trust God's plan, embrace forgiveness, and remember that He can do extraordinary things through ordinary people.
Last week, Pastor Jim taught the third installment of his series entitled, “Praying Down the Rain.” He used 1st Corinthians 13:8–10 as his scriptural reference: “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.” Incredibly, there are those in Christendom who teach tongues have ceased! But Pastor Jim very excellently went through the Word and proved why the gift of tongues has not ceased, but is, in fact, the most powerful tool believers have in praying out the plans and purposes of God in the earth! Our Links–• Join The Prayer Movement!: https://theprayermovement.com• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingwordmn• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/livingwordmn• Stay up to date with all things LWCC at https://www.LWCC.org• Join our Online Church community here: https://www.lwcc.org/onlinechurch• Give online: https://www.lwcc.org/give/• If you recently committed your life to God, we'd like to give you a free eBook to help you in your spiritual journey. Coming Out Of The Wilderness | Pastor Jim Boyd | Refuge City ChurchSupport the show
This week, Pastor Jim walks us through Hebrews 8:1–13, where we see the promise of a better covenant. Jesus, our High Priest, mediates this new covenant built on grace, not law—one that brings forgiveness, transformation, and the assurance of God's presence written on our hearts.Text: Hebrews 8:1–13Recorded: 09-07-25
Pastor Jim reflects on Jesus' invitation to “Come and see” in John 1:35–51, emphasizing that God is not a platform, performance, or political position, but a person who invites us into relationship. He explores how the first disciples, ordinary people seeking approval, security, and significance, were met by Jesus not with demands but with an invitation. Through vivid storytelling and personal reflection, Jim reveals how Jesus continues to invite us to journey with Him, revealing both God's identity and our own. Regardless of our skepticism, search, or seasoned faith, the call remains the same: come, follow, and be transformed.
Paul knows he will likely never see these Ephesian elders again, and so he gathers them for one final meeting. Pastor Jim leaves us with four questions to consider: • Do I see the church as a family to love, or just a service to attend? • Am I participating in prayer with and for my church family? • Does my love for God's people show in real affection, sacrifice, and even sorrow at parting? • Am I committed for the long haul, building the kind of deep relationships that only time and presence can create?

Of all the great mysteries that we find in the Bible, this particular passage in Genesis 6 seems to sit right at the top of our list. Who are the Nephilim? Are these the children of the “sons of God” who impregnated earthly women? Are they demi-gods? Are they giants? I'm sure you likely have more questions, but these are the questions that I brought to the text this week!Support the showThanks for listening! Welcome to Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland, WA. Today's sermon by Pastor Jim is entitled: “Above All, Humility”, and there will be beautiful music and Holy Communion to prepare you for the week ahead.
Messiah, Temple, Sabbath...and some chosen people? Yesterday we began to dig into Jesus' list of the Signs of the End in Matthew 24. And it had the distinct flavor of matzo ball soup! Since the Lord was answering a question about His Return - as distinct from the Rapture of the church - this is what we'd expect. Here's Pastor Jim with more of, What You Did for These, My Brothers. 8/31/2025, A Church on the Move: The Partner Plan, Acts 1:1-8, Pastor Jim Fleming by Northern Heights
If we wake up every morning doubting God's goodness and wondering whether He will be true to His word, we are terribly blotting His holy name and reputation! One of Satan's greatest lies is that God won't bless us. But God is good—He loves us and does not forget His children. No matter what we face or how we feel, we can declare that the Lord will bless us!
In today's episode, we're answering a question about God's will and how we should think about God's will when we face loss, suffering, and challenges. If God is sovereign, does that mean that everything that happens is his will? How can we trust God when things don't seem to be going our way? As we discuss, it's a familiar theological question, but it's also one of the most personal. It's a chance for Pastor Jim to reflect both personally and pastorally.
True fulfillment comes from a deep relationship with Jesus. Pastor Jim outlines five key elements necessary for experiencing this abundance: salvation, identity in Christ, understanding one's purpose, participating in God's mission, and living with the expectation of eternal reward.
As the sand in the hourglass falls, antisemitism rises. Satan would like to prevent the Lord's return if he could - in fact, it seems like he'll try. But that will be his last, desperate attempt after trying to wipe out the people of God - both Christians and Jews. When the Disciples asked Jesus about the "sign of...the end of the age," He gave them a very "Jewish" answer! Pastor Jim will explain, in a sermon called, What You Did for These, My Brothers. Listen to Right Start Radio every Monday through Friday on WCVX 1160AM (Cincinnati, OH) at 9:30am, WHKC 91.5FM (Columbus, OH) at 5:00pm, WRFD 880AM (Columbus, OH) at 9:00am. As we journey toward heaven, trouble finds us along the way! We get wronged or offended, and we feel all alone. But as the apostle Paul at the end of his life made clear to young Timothy, we're never alone. God is with us, and He'll bring us through anything! When we are let down by others, we must remember that the Lord will make things right. What we're going through is not forever. One day we'll see Jesus, and He will wipe every tear from our eyes!
This week, Pastor Jim continues in Hebrews 7:20-28. In this passage, we see the assurance of Christ's perfect and eternal priesthood. Cain walked away from the presence of the LORD, and his descendants, though wealthy, successful and beautiful, will continue to grow in corruption. That point is captured in the description of Lamech, son of Cain, and his children. Yet at the same time, God's providence is working through the line of Seth to bring both judgment and mercy upon the earth for the sake of fulfilling God's promise spoken to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15. This son of Lamech, the son named Noah, will be a righteous man and a deliverer of the elect who will then father the nations following the devastating flood to come.Support the showThanks for listening! Diseases like cancer can only kill our bodies—but discouragement destroys the soul. Whatever we face, though—sickness, financial instability, or heartbreak—we must never give up. The bigger the trial, the more we need to pray about it! Jesus said to persistently ask for answers to our prayers. In the mighty name of Jesus, let's press on through life's hardships!
Where do you turn for safety and peace? This message from Psalm 91 reminds us that trusting God places us under His protection. Tune in to hear how God's Word gives us confidence and strength, even when life feels overwhelming.
This week, Pastor Jim leads us through the last few verses on the Beatitudes with a message on Persecution, Trials, and Hardship. Want to hear More? Tune in next week, or come visit us on a Sunday morning! We would love to have you worship the Lord with us.
There are two types of faith: one that moves mountains, and another that trusts God when mountains don't move. Pastor Jim reminds us that faith is not just for getting what we want from God, but for trusting Him when we don't get what we want.
We can't take advantage of what we have if we don't know we have it! But too many of us Christians don't realize the full power of God's Spirit who lives within us. The Holy Spirit makes us know that we are God's children. He teaches and guides us. He even tells us what to say when we're challenged about our faith. Let's lean into His power today!
The launch of Pastor Jim's new teaching series began this past weekend, entitled, “Praying Down the Rain.” It was powerful! He delved into past revivals to examine whether there were certain things that triggered the move of God in the land. And he found them! Plus, you'll get to hear a prophetic word about our very own state—Minnesota! If there is anyone out there that feels “ho-hum” on the subject of end time revival, this series will bring an end to that. "I see you" is an informal idiom used to express several things, including acknowledgement, understanding, admiration, or support. It's a way of recognizing someone's efforts, understanding their situation, or appreciating their qualities. It feels good to be seen and can be very painful when we feel invisible. In our beautiful gospel passage this week, Jesus sees - really sees - a woman who is suffering and he heals her by helping her stand up tall and be seen by others as well. Dr. Jim Keck will describe how it takes a special effort to truly see one another.

This week, Pastor Jim takes us through Hebrews 7:1–19, exploring the powerful comparison between Jesus and Melchizedek. In this passage, we see how Jesus is the ultimate and eternal High Priest—offering a better hope through which we draw near to God.Text: Hebrews 7:1-19Recorded August 24th, 2025
Pastor Jim concludes the True King series by walking through 2 Kings 24 and 25, where the southern kingdom of Judah falls and the people are exiled to Babylon. Jim explains that exile is more than the loss of land or a destroyed temple; it is life without God's presence and glory. Despite the devastation, he points to the glimmer of hope left in the story and connects it to the arrival of Jesus, the better temple, the better King, and the better Israel. Through the lens of exile, Jim reminds listeners that Jesus took on the true exile of sin and death, offering restored identity, renewed presence, and unshakable hope to all who turn their face to God. The message calls us to examine the idols that rename and mislead us, and to receive the forgiveness and life Jesus secured through his death, resurrection, and the indwelling of the Spirit.
"Does anybody really know what time it is?" When it comes to reading the signs of the End, there's a lot of confusion. Some of that is intentional. Some of the befuddlement comes from putting too much stock in speculation - ours, or a teacher's. But Jesus wasn't confused. His watch was accurate to the nanosecond. He knew the prophetic time the same way we can know it: by the prophetic text. Here's Pastor Jim with part 1 of, So When You See...Be Sure to Flee. When people and pressures come hard against us, it's easy to want to quit. But God has given us exactly what we need to overcome, even in the hardest times: the Holy Spirit. We can't win the fight with evil, but the Spirit of God inside us can. And when we open our hearts to Him every single day, He will fill us and make our lives sweet and beautiful. What a gift God has given us!
