This week, Pastor Jim walks us through 1 Samuel 28, where Saul, desperate for guidance, turns to a medium instead of seeking the Lord. After a lifetime of rejecting God's direction, Saul experiences the tragic consequences of relying on his own way rather than trusting God's. This sobering passage reminds us that God alone is our source of wisdom, hope, and guidance, and that turning away from Him only leads to emptiness.Text: 1 Samuel 28, 31 Recorded: June 21, 2026
In this message from Ephesians 6:14–17, Pastor Jim concludes the Armor of God section by focusing on the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. He explains that God's Word, through the Holy Spirit, orients us to reality, especially when life feels cloudy, confusing, or spiritually chaotic. The Spirit uses the written Word to point us to the living Word, Jesus, helping us resist deception, know truth, and walk in obedience. Ultimately, the goal is not simply to quote more Scripture, but to know Christ so deeply that the enemy's lies become unbelievable.
You might have a dream city you want to visit, but the most important destination you need to secure is the new Jerusalem.
Pastor Jim West presents the biblical narrative of Abraham and Isaac found in Genesis 22. He frames this historical account as a "final exam" of faith, occurring after Abraham had walked with God for forty years. By examining the geographical and cultural context, he highlights how the story foreshadows the future sacrifice of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. He emphasizes that true faith is demonstrated through a surrendered life and outward obedience rather than mere feelings or doctrine. Ultimately, he encourages believers to trust in divine provision during their own modern trials and hardship. Support the showThanks for listening! There are those who see ambition as only a virtue and others who see it as pure vice. Is it good to be ambitious, or is it a dangerous self-obsession? Perhaps most importantly, how should faith impact ambition? In our conversation today, Pastor Jim explores the real meaning of ambition and how Christians should think about hard work, goals, and the work it takes to do great things. We hope the conversation helps you pursue all that God has for your life with clarity and better wisdom.

The greatest threat to faith isn't always hard times. In Deuteronomy 6, Moses warns God's people not to forget the Lord when life is comfortable. Tune in as we explore how to remain faithful to God when life is good so we can pass on a legacy of faith to the next generation.
What's one way to measure the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives? Our joy.
What does it actually look like to love people well in a world that has forgotten how? In part two of People Skills, Pastor Jim continues unpacking the biblical blueprint for building relationships that are healthy, honest, and honoring to God. From learning to get whole before you can truly help others, to making the shift from selfishness to generosity, to knowing when unity requires taking a stand for truth . . . these principles are as practical as they are powerful. If you're ready to grow in the way you connect with the people around you, this message will show you how.
In this message from Ephesians 6:10–17, Pastor Jim continues the Armor of God series by focusing on the helmet of salvation. He explains that salvation is not only something that happened in the past, but also a present and future reality. Through Jesus, believers have been justified, are being sanctified, and will one day be glorified. This salvation hope protects us against the enemy's accusations, discouragement, and lies by reminding us that Christ has rescued us, is still working in us, and will one day make all things new.
In this sermon from Judges 6, Pastor Jim Schultz examines the account of Gideon and the repeated temptation to demand proof when God has already spoken. As Israel suffers under Midianite oppression, God calls Gideon to act. Yet instead of responding with confident obedience, Gideon continually seeks signs and assurances, revealing a heart marked by hesitation and uncertainty. This passage reminds us that God's people are called to take Him at His Word. While God graciously bears with Gideon's weakness, the focus of the chapter is not on imitating Gideon's requests for signs, but on recognizing the sufficiency and reliability of God's promises. The Lord had spoken clearly, and Gideon's responsibility was to believe and obey.Pastor Jim also explores Israel's idolatry, God's righteous discipline, His undeserved grace, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, this message calls believers to reject the constant demand for further proof and instead trust what God has revealed in His Word. True faith is not built on signs and miracles, but on the character and promises of God.
Ministry is harder than it looks. Marriages fall apart. Leaders walk away. Good people quit. So how do you make it to the end?In this message from 1 Timothy 4, Pastor Jim walks through five things the Apostle Paul gives to a young pastor named Timothy to help him finish well — and they apply to every Christian, not just pastors. The big idea: train hard for godliness. Not to earn God's love. From it.In this message: • Why godliness requires intentional training (not just good intentions) • How to live intergenerationally and why it matters • What it means to immerse yourself in Scripture for the long game • How to discover and operate in your spiritual gifts • Why your perseverance isn't just about youIf you've ever felt like quitting — your faith, your marriage, your ministry — this one's for you.

Pastor Jim examines a period of peace and transition in the life of the biblical figure Abraham from Genesis 21. He focuses on a specific narrative where Abraham enters into a covenant with King Abimelech, emphasizing the importance of believers acting as peacemakers within their local communities and the state. Pastor Jim highlights how Abraham uses generosity and honest communication to resolve a dispute over a well, suggesting that modern Christians should similarly strive for harmonious and generous relationships with those outside the church. He also encourages the congregation to utilize times of relative calm to strengthen their faith by drawing deeply from the "well" of scripture. Ultimately, he presents these peaceful intervals as essential opportunities for spiritual preparation and establishing a resilient identity in God's grace before future trials arise. 5/31/2026, Journey: When Sin Bites, Numbers 21:4-9, Pastor Jim Fleming by Northern Heights
You can love the Lord with all your heart and still make a complete mess of your life from a lack of wisdom.
Surrounded by conflicts and controversy, there can be a lot of pressure to speak, whether you're a Christian in a workplace or a pastor speaking to a congregation. The Bible encourages both holding the tongue and the courage to be bold with the truth. It takes wisdom to discern the moment and when God is asking us to speak and when he is asking us to remain silent. In this week's episode, we're exploring the question of how leaders can cultivate the discernment to steward their voice in a noisy and chaotic culture. Pastor Jim offers some practical advice for finding a way forward.
In this series Pastor Jim explores Biblical events and the lessons they teach us about making wise decisions.

Numbers 12:1-16
In Judges 5, Deborah and Barak respond to God's mighty deliverance with a song of praise, celebrating the Lord's victory over the Canaanite oppressors. In this message, Pastor Jim Schultz walks through this powerful chapter, showing how the song highlights both God's sovereign power and the willing obedience of those who answered His call.Along the way, we see the contrast between those who stepped forward in faith and those who stayed on the sidelines, offering timely lessons for believers today. What keeps us from obeying God? Fear, inconvenience, distraction, or something else? This sermon also explores how Christians should understand themes of battle and victory in light of the New Testament. Drawing from Ephesians 6, Pastor Jim explains how believers are called to engage in spiritual warfare through faith, prayer, standing firm in God's truth, and boldly sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.Join us as we learn to praise God for His victories, trust His leadership, and faithfully follow His call.
Ever loved someone deeply but realized that he or she just didn't love you back? God has.
In part one of this three-part series, Pastor Jim tackles one of the most practical and needed topics in the Christian life: People Skills. Drawing from Romans 14:19 and a wealth of real-life wisdom, you'll explore eight biblical principles for building stronger, healthier relationships . . .from understanding how the way you see yourself shapes the way you see others, to the simple but powerful habit of catching people doing something right. In a world increasingly ruled by screens and disconnection, this message is a timely reminder that people matter . . . and that with God's help, you can learn to love them well.
This week, Pastor Jim walks us through 1 Samuel 27, 29, and 30, as David faces a season of uncertainty, difficult decisions, and unexpected setbacks. After seeking refuge among the Philistines, David finds himself in a complicated situation, yet God continues to guide and protect him. When disaster strikes at Ziklag, David responds by seeking the Lord and finding strength in Him before taking action. These chapters remind us that even in our lowest moments, God is faithful, and true strength is found by turning to Him first.Text: 1 Samuel 27, 29, 30 Recorded: May 31, 2026
In this message from Ephesians 6:10–16, Pastor Jim continues the Armor of God series by focusing on the shield of faith. He explains that faith is not about the amount we can produce, but the object of our trust: the faithfulness of God revealed in Jesus. As the enemy sends fiery arrows of disobedience, doubt, despair, and distraction, believers are called to take up faith by fixing their eyes on Christ, remembering God's past faithfulness, and standing together as the family of God.

How do you spot false teaching when it doesn't look false? When it sounds holy, feels loving, and maybe even sounds better than real Christianity? In this sermon, Pastor Jim walks us through 1 Timothy 3:14–4:5 and gives us the tools to answer that question. The church has been entrusted with something sacred — the gospel of Jesus Christ — and Paul calls her the pillar and buttress of truth. That means what we believe and how we live it out both matter. A healthy church needs both hands. From theological triage to the sons of Sceva, from seared consciences to the prosperity gospel, Pastor Jim traces the anatomy of false teaching and lands on one defining mark: false teaching always leaves Jesus behind. It doesn't deny Jesus outright — it just slowly moves past him. And the most dangerous version doesn't feel dangerous at all. It feels like peace. The antidote isn't more theological expertise. It's staying centered on Jesus. Staying close to him. Staying here with him.If you've ever wondered how to discern what's true from what just sounds true, this one is for you.

Pastor Jim explores the birth of Isaac as a testament to God's perfect faithfulness, timing, and grace. He emphasizes that despite the human impatience and sinful "Plan B" strategies of Abraham and Sarah, God remained committed to his original promise. He highlights the painful, yet loving pruning required when human mistakes create messy consequences, specifically regarding the casting out of Hagar and Ishmael. Ultimately, he illustrates how these Old Testament events serve as a theological foundation for the New Testament, pointing toward the miraculous arrival of Jesus. Pastor Jim concludes that believers are saved not by their own merit or performance, but through unmerited grace and faith in God's promises.Support the showThanks for listening! Grace Under Pressure | 1 Samuel 25-26This week, Pastor Jim walks us through 1 Samuel 25-26 in a message titled Grace Under Pressure, where David has the opportunity to take revenge on Nabal, but Abigail, Nabal's wife, intervenes. Rather than taking matters into his own hands, David takes the wise counsel of Abigail and spares Nabal. In these passages, we see that we don't have to take matters into our own hands when we trust God's timing. Text: 1 Samuel 25-26Recorded: May 31, 2026

We increasingly live in an age of skepticism. People do not trust institutions, and often they do not trust the church or pastors. Moral failures and corrupted leaders have violated the trust of many followers. But trust is one of the foundations of a healthy and vibrant community. In this episode, Pastor Jim describes how leaders can build trust, how they can lose trust, and why trust matters for the communities we're a part of.
