A podcast that seeks to raise awareness about sexual violence by highlighting personal stories submitted by contributors as well as the treatment of sexual violence in news and media.

It’s episode 24 and we get depressed and frustrated as we talk about how the quarantine effects people who live with their abusers, the fork theory and why it matters now more than ever, the Biden-Tara Reade (not Tara Reid) situation, and how West Virginia made the rest of us look like chumps and won the country. This is episode 22 and thanks to a brand new survey from this decade, we're talking episode 2 all about consent. It's a little looser and a little more rambling because you can only say the same things in so many ways. Read more here: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/a-third-of-male-university-students-say-they-would-rape-a-woman-if-there-no-were-no-consequences-9978052.html This is hidden by a paywall, but the abstract gives more context for the study: https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/abs/10.1089/vio.2014.0022?journalCode=vio& Join us at discord: https://discord.gg/448RM5n
It’s episode 21 and we’re not having fun. CW as usual. This was originally posted on reddit and the OP offered to contribute to the podcast. Join us on discord: https://discord.gg/qxGGP3P We promised to share links to the gofundme and justgiving but it seems those have expired. I’m reaching out for more, and will update this if it comes. I want to add this quote pulled from a comment made by the OP. “What i am trying to do which may take YEARS is •register as homeless with the council •report to police once im safe •find a cheap flat •get a job far away •live my life •not get hurt What I have done •told RASAC •told CAMHS •tried to apply for CICA (wont let me till im 16) •researched EVERYTHING i can (this is the only comments I will appreciate is advice about SCOTTISH laws because I really need help) •fought the school for 2 years to let me sit some of my exams, i have done 2 exams but neither maths nor english •dropped out of school, i stopped going around the age of 14 and now i am officially no longer a student •told my parents, although they are supportive of this they are still toxic in other senses which I have left a reply about •told my older sister who has slutshamed me nonstop and blamed me for being harrassed online •signed up for therapy (rasac waiting list) •gone to CAMHS ‘therapy’ for 4 years •got prescribed anti depressants •fought with camhs to try and get a diagnosis so I can claim CICA over the past 2 years (nhs hates giving diagnosis to kids) (also my parents refuse to believe i have mental problems) •had to sit in a room at school with just me and no teacher and my rapist S to finish a preliminary essay. This terrified me so much I didnt finish the essay bevause I was crying. He never said a word to me but he sat in the seat I always sit in for registration. •walked by several people smoking which triggers my ptsd because they all smelt like fags •taken a shit ton of drugs •had to stop drinking because it gives me ptsd and makes me throw up Why it has affected me so much •I cant brush my teeth. I cant brush my teeth. Every time I put something in my mouth I cry and throw up. •I have nightmares several nights each week •I have had threats about rape from every boy I know •the boy whos house it was at messaged me on instagram the other week asking If i would have sex with him •I cant drink because of ptsd •I nearly pass out from anxiety when alone in public near men”
It’s episode 20 and the holidays so we wanted to get a little lighter? and talk about tips I’ve learned for helping raise self esteem. 1: I love you until it not only doesn’t feel icky or gross or wrong but feels right and natural (not a single day process. 2: To yourself (out loud), or to the mirror, or to another person you trust say out loud the negative thoughts you have about yourself. Don’t do this until you can say I love you to yourself and mean it. You’ll likely feel shame, because you’d never say those things to another person you loved. 3: After you’ve said it out loud, say “I used to believe those things, now, I’m starting to learn I am enough.” Then break it down negative thought by negative thought, ex: “I used to believe I’m stupid, I’m now starting to learn I’m smart” Bonus points if you can come up with an example of why you know you’re smart, or whatever. “I learned such and such” or “I got an A in this class” or “I consistently make decisions that help improve my life” Join Discord! https://discord.gg/NPHBkWR
We have two contributors today because they were both a little shorter, but both are hard to hear because they were kids when it happened. Content warning is in place for every episode, so proceed with caution as always. Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/eBnb4TQ
It’s Episode 18 and we’re talking about recent news. Very recent. The last 3 days of my google alerts recent. Too many cops taking advantage of their position, but luckily most seem to be dealing with consequences for doing so. Still, there’s a little slut-shaming, a confused man that thinks it’s not the rape of a child if money is exchanged, high fives, and more. We both wanted a drink by the end of this. It’s episode 17 and we have a special guest, Zachary, explain his own case of sexual assault committed by an at the time girlfriend now ex that has left him expelled and in year 3 of hearings. He talks about some of the unique issues that come up due to his gender, and how he gets away when he’s still right in the middle of it all. It’s another contributor episode and we’re thanking everyone again. You, contributor, are the last of the firsts, thank you. Our contributor was an RA and once again reminds us that the workplace is not as safe as we’d like. We also give some info about EMDR at the end and have included the page we quoted below. http://www.emdr.com/what-is-emdr/
Episode 14 is about Rick James, Funk star, Kidnapper, and Rapist. We also went down the google rabbit hole a little. We were a little all over this episode, but we have some updates below for the information we didn’t have. Update: Mystikal got a whopping 1.5 years before being let out on bond. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/8498588/mystikal-released-on-3m-bond-in-rape-case The three men from Georgia each got life without parole and then some. https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/local/crime/article217140785.html And good old Spokane dropped all charges without prejudice so they can be charged again, but still. Disappointing. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2018/jan/04/spokane-county-drops-rape-charges-against-all-memb/ Resources: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-08-03-me-242-story.html?fbclid=IwAR0tZl7d-dNnL35Uk2Ng12MLJhzZl0U6yJVkopwl4xrUzeDfdn6fU8J0mB0 https://www.apnews.com/d386295195bf79658ac6931c46db1819?fbclid=IwAR3ZhcvXCI6CYkjffDBBwCj7Vw9l9vZOuYzgIilrnAVeVUw8RGuyDIqbEU8 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_James https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/oct/04/death-metal-band-accused-of-rape-kidnapping-en-rou/?fbclid=IwAR2miT7vUHsl8D0NK5-mng3cIF_CISlEG2VQxRHkFo1pjDUzHFlWb12dTcQ https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/mystikal-indicted-on-rape-kidnapping-charges-203539/?fbclid=IwAR36IrSz0uCy5Jg75hZEaOdy1Csm5jo6WJgaGi3LNXDRvj6lw_zhBNPA6EA https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/latest-news/article216754915.html?fbclid=IwAR09nEpv4_gy3kBTaaoMtN6AN2DAL6uSQsk9AO3bVzU1ZXCjGqjCstCHOBc
It’s episode 13 and if that wasn’t special enough, we have a special guest, Kate. Check her podcast out at Ignorance was Bliss. Be prepared for some violent details this episode and just beware it starts “When I was 12 years old.” We did have a little technical difficulties, but that's what editing is for. Finally, for IWB fans, “Didn’t you feel better before you knew that?”
It’s episode # 12 and we wanted to talk about a win, so we’re talking about the release of Cyntoia Brown! We get into it a little about laws around life sentencing for juveniles, but most of the episode is on topic around how Cyntoia ended up in prison and her release. The resources below help illustrate how frustrating it can be researching this (Cynthia? Really?) and I didn’t even look at any of the ones that ignored the whole sex trafficking portion of the incident. It’s episode 11 and we talked about prison rules. Have you heard the saying about prisoners having an honor system and even they don’t like pedophiles? we talk about that, and the contributor story that inspired me to rethink how I saw that.
It’s episode 10.2 and we went way too long discussing the Epstein arrest and all of its implications so we split it into 2 parts. make sure to listen to episode 10 before this one we talk a little less about specifics and more about theories and hopes and conspiracies. We quote a lot of content from the articles below if you’d like to read more. It’s episode 10 and we went way too long discussing the Epstein arrest and all of its implications so we split it into 2 parts. Catch part 2 next week, in the meantime, find out more about why the Epstein arrest happened, who he is, and why all of this matters. We Quote a lot of content from the articles below if you’d like to read more. Also check out Femme Wonk for policy talk that’s a little more polished and professional.
It’s episode 9 and this time Sebastian reads a contributor story while I go in blind. I learn bar tending is terrifying. Thank you as always to our contributor, and may I say, you’re kind of bad af?
This is episode 8 of Every98: Anonymous but Brave, the podcast that tries to keep an eye on how we treat rape and talk about it’s perpetrators and survivors by hearing real stories from brave contributors and covering recent news. This Episode covers a Florida Man arrested in Washington, how genealogy helps bring closure, testimony from Elle’s columnist, and why we need to stop treating arousal like it’s the devil.
This is episode 7 of Every98. Our topic is a submission from S. Thank you S.
We talk about current affairs and stay pretty off topic. Youtubers, wrestlers, and how the things we do maintain rape culture are all covered this episode.I talk a bit about Opening Arguments episode 280 check it out for more information https://openargs.com/oa280-abortion-rights-under-assault/
This is a long episode, but this contributor’s story got us going! We talk about sexual harassment, and bad af teachers who don’t deserve this nonsense.
Our last 2 episodes both had some Domestic Violence issues, and rather than leave it at the quick skim at the end of episode 3, we decided to go through what DV is and where we saw it in both episodes. Reference: https://www.thehotline.org/is-this-abuse/abuse-defined/
We talk about Surviving R. Kelly and get off topic a lot, sorry! Just in case you don’t know what Surviving R. Kelly is all about, it’s not great. Get ready for manipulation, pedophilia, pee tapes, and abuse.
This episode includes a personal story about Domestic violence. Please proceed with caution if this is a sensitive subject.
Episode 2 is all about consent. What is consent? What is it not? We go over the study “When is Rape OK?” and talk a bit about Emily Doe. This is a shorter episode. Sebastian is back to talk about an important point that came in with my mother’s story. Communication. She had no one to talk to, and we go over why that was. Podcast RSS
Welcome to the first official episode of Every98: Anonymous but Brave. We’re trying to raise awareness about sexual violence so be prepared for mature themes. My mother was kind enough to take part of her weekend and share her story. Her’s is a story of child molestation, but there is no explicit or graphic detail, still it may not be suitable for everyone. Podcast RSS
